Mason's

POV

I stared at her with desire-filled eyes. I understood what she was suggesting but I was still apprehensive. It felt like she only wanted me when she was drunk. If she sobered up right now, she would deny and ignore me once again. I didn't want that. I wanted her to be honest with me about how she felt. I gently caressed her exposed thigh with my thumb and she sucked in a sharp breath.

"Are you suggesting what I think you are?" I asked my hands, continuing their slow and torturous caresses which started inching towards her underwear. Her breath came out in low pants as she wrapped her legs around my waist. "I might be," she panted.

"You are drunk Lexi. I don't want you changing your mind later," I replied.

She shook her head. "You don't have to worry about that," she slowly opened her dark hooded eyes and stared into mine. She wrapped her hands around my neck and pulled me closer. She wanted to place a kiss on my lips but I turned my face away making her press her lips on my neck. I shuddered, my body tensing strongly. Her touch sent a jolt of electricity through me.

"You can't keep doing this," I whispered into her ear. This was the first time I was trying so hard to be in control. But it was impossible around Lexi. I could feel her heart pounding against her chest. Her soft round breasts were pressed against my chest. I didn't know what to do with my hands, the only thought I had with them right now wasn't chaste at all. I entangled them on her soft long hair that smelled like lavender instead. I stroked her hair, back and arms slowly. "Mason," she whispered against the skin of my neck.

"Mate!" Lyall growled in my head and I fought to keep him at bay. He was struggling to come out but I wouldn't let him not when it was going to end up scaring her. If I let him, he might pounce on her.

"Can we forget that we are friends? Just for tonight?" she asked, inching closer to my fingers on her thigh. I groaned when I caught a whiff of her arousal. Immediately I felt her wetness on my fingers, I forgot that I was trying to control myself from getting intimate with her a while back. I moved my fingers and she jerked. Her head was still nestled in the crook of my neck and I could hear her pants and whimpers. This just showed that I wasn't the only one who wanted her, she wanted me too.

I glanced around and when I was sure no one was paying any attention to us, I began to stroke my fingers over her panties and she gasped. I could feel her getting wetter. "Sorry for the intrusion. I should probably...go," he said and fled away. I looked away from him towards Lexi and she was struggling to pull her shirt back down uncomfortably.

"I knew this was going to happen," I muttered moving away from her. She stared at me quietly. The passion I had seen in her eyes a few minutes ago was completely gone. I bet she was starting to regret it.

"I'm sure you are sober now," I said but she still didn't respond. She pulled her skirt downwards repeatedly. I scoffed in disbelief.

"You know what? Have a lovely evening," I said irately and left her alone. How dare she play with my feelings like this? She was constantly making me feel stupid. Out of all her constant rejections, today hurt me the most. I met Torres along the way. He stared at me in surprise and pointed towards the car I was with Lexi.

"I thought..."

"Well, you thought wrong. Can I take the car? I will have someone return it to you when I get back to the hotel," I said, cutting him off.

"You are leaving?" he asked with a frown.

"I don't even know what I'm doing here man, this isn't my scene. I'm just not in the mood," I replied.

He nodded. "I understand but you might want to wipe that lipstick mark first," he said pointing towards my cheek. I had completely forgotten all about that. I wiped it with my hands.

"You will bring them both back safely right?" I asked, referring to Mady and Lexi. Even though I was mad, I didn't want anything to happen to her.

"Of course," he replied.

"Thanks," I muttered and headed towards the car. I got in and drove back towards the hotel. When I arrived, it was very quiet meaning most of the students weren't back yet. I gave the car keys to one of the hotel attendants. We frequented this hotel a lot so they knew who I was and my fathers also owned shares here. After instructing him on who to give it to, I walked into my room. Thunder rumbled loudly and a heavy downpour began. The electricity went off. I glanced out of the window and it was pitch dark. Switching on the light of my phone I was looking for where the candles were kept when I suddenly heard a knock on the door. I thought I heard wrong but the knocks got louder.

I walked towards the door. My gaze met with Lexi's when I unlocked the door. Did she follow me here? I thought as I took in her appearance slowly, she was completely drenched. But it didn't matter. I was done playing games. I tried to shut the door on her face but she held onto it and I didn't have the heart to forcefully close it.

"What do you want?" I asked in a serious tone.

"Can I please come in? Mady isn't back yet and I left my purse which had my spare key in the car," she replied. I gently let go of the door and walked in.

"Thank you," I heard her mumble. Thunder rumbled again and the wind blew furiously. I shut the blinds and continued searching for the candles. I lit them when I finally found them and the room brightened up.

"Instead of just standing there, go into my room and change your clothes. You are going to catch a cold if you don't," I said after a while of hearing her shifting from foot to foot awkwardly.

"Can I talk to you?" she asked.

"We are talking now," I responded.

"Not like this. Right now, you are upset," she said.

"I'm glad you noticed. I thought you didn't care," I remarked.

"How can you say that? I'm your friend, of course I care," she replied. I looked back towards her with a frown.

"Okay, that was a dumb thing to say. It's clear that after what happened today, we can't go back to being friends," she muttered.

"So what? Are we going to go back to how we were before? Fighting and hating on each other? I'm getting tired of this back and forth. You can't go all in today and change your mind tomorrow. Don't you care about how I feel?" I inquired.

"I care about how you feel that's why I'm doing this. I told you I was adopted but do you even know how my real parents were and how I met my adoptive ones?" she inquired.

"I told you I don't care about your past. What matters is the present," I replied.

"I'm a lot to deal with Mason and I bet when you replace out, you won't be saying all these," she mumbled. Didn't she hear me when I said I didn't care? My wolf was struggling to come to the surface once again. She was making me angry, not at her but at myself. My emotions have been like a rollercoaster since I met her. So confusing. "I'm..." she started.

"I don't want to hear it!" Lyall growled walking towards her just as a huge thunder rumbled.

"Don't come any closer Nick!" she yelled fearfully shielding her face with her hands. Who the hell was Nick and what did he do to her to make her so scared of him?
