Chapter 107

“Poor Daphne! A famous celebrity like her came to pick up the Lane family’s child, only to end up getting pranked!”

“It sure isn’t easy to join a wealthy family. Even a big shot celebrity like her has to curry favor with her boyfriend’s nephew.”

“Tsk, tsk. What’s so bad about being an independent woman? Is her income from being a celebrity not enough? Why does she have to rely on marrying into a wealthy family?”

“People are never satisfied.”

Everyone was talking.

Kiki finally understood what was going on–Daphne was here!

She squeezed through the crowd and stood on tiptoe only to see several bodyguards escorting a drenched Daphne to a minivan.

Kiki couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “Even someone like Daphne got pranked. Serves her right!” As soon as Daphne left, the crowd gradually dispersed.

Kiki.”

Kiki was still wondering where Zachary was when she heard a voice calling. “Aunt Kiki.”

“Darren? Why haven’t you gone home yet?” Kiki asked, seeing Darren with his shirt off and smiling at her. She quickly walked up to the child. “Hasn’t your driver come to pick you up?”

Darren shook his head. “I told him to come ten minutes later.”

“Why?”

“You saw the state that woman was in, didn’t you? It was my doing, Aunt Kiki!”

Stunned, Kiki asked, “You poured water on her?” She was a bit worried. She had just been released from jail; she didn’t want Darren to get in trouble as well. After all, Daphne was Xavier’s girlfriend!

Darren looked proud. “It wasn’t just me; there were also-”

Before he could name the other two, Zachary walked out and said, “Darren, your ride is here.”

As Darren glanced around, he forgot that he was in the middle of talking when he saw the middle- aged driver waving at him.

I’m off, Aunt Kiki!” he said.

Kiki couldn’t shake off the strange feeling she had. Without dwelling on it, she took Zachary to the car.

When Yvette saw them get in, she asked, “What happened just now?”

Ask him.” Kiki pointed at Zachary. “I think he knows more than I do.”

However, Zachary’s big eyes looked innocent as he asked, “Kiki, what are you talking about?”

And he was feigning ignorance now! Keep it up!

Kiki crossed her arms. “Fine, Yvvy, I’ll tell you. Daphne was at the kindergarten earlier. I couldn’t see it clearly from a distance, but she was completely soaked. She looked miserable.”

“Why was she here?” Yvette felt uneasy.

Zachary quickly explained, “Oh, Kiki, that’s what you meant? Here’s what happened. She came to pick up a student from our class. We were cleaning up when she slipped in her high heels and accidentally knocked over a water bucket.”

“That’s it?” Kiki hesitated before sighing in relief, thankful Darren hadn’t offended that bitch, Daphne.

Zachary nodded. “Of course.”

He had made sure Daphne wouldn’t have anything to blame him for.

Daphne had indeed slipped on her own, and the water bucket had just happened to get tipped over. At least the children had made sure to put on a better show than Daphne ever would have been able to pull off when they had pretended to accidentally spill the bucket of water.

Kiki was momentarily speechless.

“Alright then.” She eventually sighed. “Pretend I never asked. Still, that sure was satisfying to see.”

Meanwhile, in the minivan, Laura carefully wiped the dirty water off Daphne’s face and tended to the injuries on the latter’s leg.

Before they could finish, Daphne’s phone rang

As soon as she answered, Shannon’s angry voice came through. “Daphne, what the hell is wrong with you? You said you wanted to pick up Malcolm. Is this the way you do things after I got this

opportunity for you?

If you didn’t want to do it, you shouldn’t have asked me in the first place. You still haven’t gotten pregnant. What’s the point of keeping you around?”
