Chapter 39

Kiki said, “You’re not just a little kid; you’re a troublemaker.”

Zachary patted her shoulder. “Since we’re here, let’s go with the flow. I’ll admit my mistake to Mom when we get there.”

Kiki was frustrated. She felt that she had been tricked by a child. The worst part was that she couldn’t send him back now–even though she was sure he would be perfectly fine flying back on his owTI.

“You stay right here and behave. I’m going to call Yvvy. Otherwise, Viola and she will worry about you.

“Don’t worry, I left a note for Grandma. I told her I’m with you,” Zachary replied.

Kiki was speechless for a moment.

She took out her phone and called Yvette.

Yvette was sitting on the balcony with a cup of warm water when she answered the phone. “Kiki.

Kiki glanced guiltily at Zachary next to her and said, “Yvvy, I meant to surprise you, but…”

Yvette was puzzled. “What’s wrong?”

“I came to Tirion. I’m at the airport now… and Zac followed me here.”

Yvette’s heart skipped a beat.

Kiki handed the phone to Zachary and let him explain himself.

“Mom, don’t blame Kiki. I’m the one who bought the ticket secretly and followed her. You’re in Tirion alone, so I was worried about you.”

Yvette had always known that Zachary was smart, but she had never expected him to be bold enough to go to the airport on his own.

“Zachary! Did you forget what I told you?”

Zachary didn’t answer but instead asked, “But Mom, I missed you, and I was worried about you.

Yvette’s throat tightened. She couldn’t replace the words to respond.

Kiki was surprised by what he said as well. She squatted down and took the phone to defuse the situation.

“Yvvy, don’t worry. I’ve thought it through. Zac can stay with me for now. I won’t let Xavier replace out about him.” For now, that was the only solution. Before hanging up, they agreed to meet at a restaurant.

Kiki breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Zachary helplessly. “Let’s go.

The two of them walked out of the airport,

The Torres family’s driver had been waiting outside with the car. Once Kiki and Zachary got in, they

headed towa

the city center.

Zachary kept looking out the window and asked about everything he saw.

Kiki patiently answered each question. “That’s the central square of Tirion. It’s owned by the Lane family. That commercial street used to belong to the Snyder family, but later it was acquired by Xavier. It’s surprising to see it’s still doing well…”

Halfway through, she realized she was explaining too much. “I’m such a fool. Why am I telling these things to a child? You wouldn’t understand.”

Kiki considerately pointed to a building and said, “That building is full of toy stores.

With his big, bright eyes, Zachary looked at her seriously and said, Kiki, I’ll be four years old this September. I’m not just a three–year–old kid anymore

Kiki was speechless. Once again, she was at a loss for words.

The car moved slowly, and they soon arrived at the restaurant Kiki and Yvette had agreed upon.

Xavier left the company, with Daphne following closely behind, and got into a black Cadilac. On the way, Xavier flipped through a contract absent–mindedly.

Sitting beside him, Daphne spoke up. “Xav, take a break.”

“There’s no need,” Xavier replied coldly.

Daphne had no choice but to sit quietly. Though Xavier had never shown any dislike for her over the past four years, he hadn’t shown any affection either

She couldn’t understand what he was thinking. Could he really live without any lust or desire?

Today, she was determined to win over him.

At the same time, Xavier’s phone vibrated. It was a call from a bodyguard he had assigned to watch over

Yvette.

“Mr. Lane, Ms. Snyder has gone out. She’s at Golden Moon Restaurant now.”
