The smile on Gwendolyn's face disappeared in an instant.

Why do I feel that it's going to be more difficult for me to be with Patrick? First, both families opposedthis relationship. Now, even my mentor is against this.

Gwendolyn sighed in silence. For the time being, it was not wise to dwell on such unhappy thoughts.She had an award to receive, after all.

She took a deep breath to calm herself down.

Linette did not dare to make a sound. She still seemed quite afraid of Tiffany.

The three of them rode in a car to the awards ceremony venue. The whole journey took ten minutes orso since it was not too far from the hotel they were staying at.

When they arrived, they noticed the red carpet adorning the steps. A number of celebrities had alreadyshown up. One could also hear the constant clicking of camera shutters as the paparazzi took theirpictures.

This made Linette jittery.

“Gwen, this is my first time attending a fashion gala in Willowbank. I'm so nervous!” whispered Linette,clutching onto Gwendolyn's arm. “Oh, look! Is that Josiah? I really like him. Oh, look there! It's thatfamous celebrity, but I can't seem to remember her name. She's got such an amazing figure!”

Gwendolyn was not someone who kept up with celebrity gossip, so seeing these big names did notincite any drastic reactions from her.

Sure enough, there was a generational gap between herself and Linette. It was as described by Juliette—Gwendolyn was too old-fashioned and did not understand things like fan groups for celebrities.

Tiffany held the invitation letter in her lace-gloved hand and let the security guard at the entrance checkit. After going through the security checkpoint, she made her way toward the red carpet.

Paparazzi and media representatives lined the red carpet, taking pictures.

Linette held her breath before looking at Tiffany in front of her. The latter seemed to be very calm. Shehad participated in so many events that she no longer felt anything toward them.

Linette then glanced at Gwendolyn. She was also calm. A gentle smile graced Gwendolyn's lips,making her seem as beautiful as a celestial being walking the earth.

Sensing Linette's gaze on her, Gwendolyn gave her a sideways smile and reached out to hold her handas if trying to comfort her.

With Gwendolyn holding her hand, Linette felt bolder. She was no longer as nervous as she wasbefore.

Holding a pen, Tiffany walked toward the autograph wall to sign her name on it. The usherette alsohanded pens to Gwendolyn and Linette for them to do the same.

Just then, a show host walked over to ask where Tiffany was.

“Congratulations on winning an award, Tiffany!” said the host with a smile. “I daresay you've walkedaway with big awards almost every year!”

Tiffany smiled as she replied, “Well, my mentee, Ms. Gwendolyn Ashton, has also won a prize thisyear. I guess you can say that things will be slightly different this year.”

The host smiled and turned to face Gwendolyn.

“Congratulations, Ms. Ashton! You really are a young and promising designer! Not only are youbeautiful, but you're extremely talented too! Can you tell us how you're feeling tonight?”

Gwendolyn had memorized responses to these questions before. Tiffany had given her plenty ofspeeches to refer to, and Gwendolyn had memorized every single one.

She had thought that she only had to give a speech when accepting the award. She did not know thatshe had to speak as soon as she arrived.

“I'm very honored to be participating in this event. After all, I'm just a rookie. The fact that I could win anaward is closely tied to my mentor's tireless efforts in coaching me. As for how I feel, I can't really tellyou since I've not entered the venue just yet.”

Tiffany looked at Gwendolyn and gave her another small smile. She seemed to be quite satisfied withGwendolyn's response.

This girl is quite obedient. She has done everything I've told her to do, exactly as instructed.

The three of them finally entered the venue. They were seated in the first row, and there would be afashion show as well. Gwendolyn was quite excited to be sitting so close to the stage.

When Patrick stepped onto the red carpet, the media went into a frenzy. Today, he was wearing a blacktrench coat with a white shirt and a black tie.

He had paired the coat with a pair of black trousers that were tucked into his shoes. He looked veryhandsome. As such, he made a very grand entrance.

Naturally, the media was all over such an outstanding individual. There was the possibility that he couldmake the headlines the next day.

When Patrick made his way to the autograph wall, the host became quite excited.

“Hello, Mr. Lowen! I never thought I'd see you here this time around! What made you attend this year?”

“Well, I wasn't too familiar with fashion in the past since I'm a businessman,” replied Patrick flatly.“However, someone important to me is receiving an award. I'm here to see her.”
