Gwendolyn wanted to withdraw her hand. However, Zayden's condition made her hesitate. Currently,he was blind and not in the best of places mentally. She was worried he might go mad if she were toreject him.

Even if she did not love Zayden, he was still her friend and savior.

At that thought, Gwendolyn pursed her lips and closed her eyes, allowing him to slip the ring onto herfinger. Gwendolyn felt as if she could hear the sound of her heart shattering. It was a painful andtormenting sensation.

Nevertheless, she vowed to not lose sight of the person she truly loved. Patrick, wait for me. OnceZayden's eyes have recovered, I'll give him back the ring and tell him that the person I love is you.

When Zayden saw that Gwendolyn did not reject him, he knew he had succeeded. He had done soprecisely because he knew that she was a kind person who would endure everything because of hisblindness and mental state.

A trace of a sneer flitted across his lips. Patrick, are you seeing this? Gwendolyn is mine! No one isallowed to take her away from me! I met her first, and I was also the one who saved her life. I stayed byher side for six years. When she was in her most helpless, wretched, and pitiful state, I was the onewho stayed by her side. I was the one who gave her the strength to rise again. Gwendolyn took her hand back and slowly lifted her head to stare at the sky above. She felt as if herworld had suddenly grown dimmer. Did the sky cloud over because it's going to rain?

However, the sunlight was brilliant when she looked up. It was so dazzling that she could barely keepher eyes open.

So it turns out the sky isn't overcast. It's my own senses that have clouded over instead.

Without Patrick, her world had returned to the state it had once been in—dark and without a shred ofhope.

She had recorded the scene with her phone and sent it to Felicia.

Hector stared at the little clay figures on the table before picking them up and examining them one byone. I think she'll be a good mother since she's good at crafts. Her children will be blessed.

Felicia forwarded the video to Patrick after watching it.

Meanwhile, Patrick was in the middle of a meeting. His expression was so dark that he terrified theemployees present into holding their breaths.

They all knew that Liam had been sent to Alendor. Hence, everyone trod carefully, afraid of making amistake that would also land them in exile.

The meeting ended with every single proposal of theirs rejected by Patrick. He ordered them to workovertime to finish it.

The employees exited the meeting room with pitiful expressions on their faces. Guess we won't begoing home tonight.

They were all dismayed at the thought of probably having to stay at the office for the entire week.

All of a sudden, Patrick felt a headache forming. He lifted a hand and pressed his brows. Just then, hefelt a warm liquid drip from his nose. He touched it with his fingers and found them coated with blood.

He hurriedly got up and walked into the restroom.

The blood continued to drip down, and Patrick had to rinse his nose for a long while before it finallystopped.

Patrick cupped the water in frustration and splashed it onto his face; a dark storm was brewing in hiseyes.

Right at that moment, he felt his phone vibrate. He grabbed some tissues and dried his hands beforetaking out his phone.

When Patrick saw that he had received a message from Felicia, he felt the urge to immediately deletethe message. However, a text message followed, and he accidentally caught a glimpse of its contents.

The message read: Zayden proposed to Gwen.

Furrowing his brows, Patrick tapped on the video.

After watching the contents of the video, he hurled his phone onto the ground. His eyes filled with fury,and his vision turned dark as he gripped the marble sink.

His head had started to hurt again, and his nose continued to bleed. Before he could rinse off thenosebleed, his vision went black, and he fainted.
