24. Of each incumbrance clear the hall—

“Aileen, these lecture tapes are great,” Dolores spoke gently as she and Squirrel Girl drove north followed by the throngs of the Kamazotz who reserved their energy to fighting and only laid eggs once near Piedras Negras, Coahuila. “Over the years, Aileen…do you know about the Osborn family and our curse?”

Squirrel Girl stopped the lecture recording that was an MP3 on her iPhone turning to give Dolores her undivided attention.

“I have heard of Norman Osborn…the reclusive mogul whose genius made such groundbreaking innovations which rival the creation of Gravity Generator technology by David Estrada…who partnered with Stark Industries to maintain the Sleep Field created by the unshielded gravity generators that power most of North America and ensure the impenetrable border created by the Sleep Field created by the gravity generators.” Aileen Green said almost mechanically to Dolores Ortiz her green-skinned savior.

“Well, Squirrel Girl, after the accident that changed the DNA of my father Amberson, not only did our skin begin to change but there was a calling…like a magnetic pull to certain people.” Dolores took her eyes off of the road for a moment to impress the severity of her words on Aileen. “To kill these people and their descendants. Amberson had a chemistry accident the same day that RCA and NBC trustees were test-broadcasting the first television show. Only certain people witnessed the show. The American public had yet to be sold their first television set.” Dolores put her attention back onto the road and drove west from San Antonio, Texas. “Over the years some of us began to figure out why…the first television signal tore opened something in the fabric of the universe that radio signal had not. Subsequent television signals don’t make anything worse…the first broadcast was enough, just a little tear…and something fell through…” Dolores paused. “And in conjunction with his chemistry experiment, this magnetized our brains to follow these people and their descendants like a compass to magnetic north. A vegetarian diet didn’t cure the curse it allowed me to transform like Jekyll into Hyde…human into a human-sized Flying Fox…and then the Zed Death Berries into a smaller bat, bloodthirsty but able to resist the Zed Sleep Fields…and hear your thoughts…hear the thoughts of the Kamazotz. Many of the Osborn family in hiding live in the Z…not Harry or Norman…”

That night Dolores and Aileen rented a hotel room in the west Texas city of Odessa. Aileen suggested MCM Grand Hotel and Fun Dome…if you were familiar with the waterpark hotel trend this would be something like that but far from a five-star attraction. But there were so many people…so many families that the Chupacabra did what comes naturally to them. Although drinking milk has the same structured sugars as animal blood, especially warm-blooded animals and humans, Dolores decided to transform and join the Chupacabra. In the morning there was no one left in the hotel to complain about anything.

Prior to her transformation Dolores had made some phone calls to her siblings, children, nieces, and nephews about the health benefits of Zed Death Berries just as she had told them about the transformation her body had undergone since becoming a vegetarian…but Zed Death Berries allowed her to cheat on her diet as long as she was transformed. She didn’t leave out the fact that she bears no shared resemblance with Zombianity but the Sleep Field created by their unshielded gravity generators has no effects on her. By the dawn of the new day, most of her family felt as powerful as she did and they began their assault on the border around the Zombie Protected Zone.

We all have a worst-case scenario, scenario to get us out of the Chupacabra Apocalypse, don’t you?
