After hesitating, Sean answered it.

There was silence on the other side.

Sean squinted and asked, “Amber?”

There was still no sound on the phone.

Sean didn’t hang up, but waited quietly.

“Sean, what do you mean?”

“What do you mean? I don’t get it!”

Amber’s voice was a bit aggressive, and she sneered, “Why did you give Cindy that card? Is it charity?”

“Didn’t you say that you hated me taking advantage of you the most? Why did you give me money?”

Sean’s breathing paused for a moment.

Before answering the phone, Sean had known that Amber would humiliate him.

But seeing Amber’s call, he couldn’t help but answer it!

Amber blurted out the last sentence.

Sean pressed his lips.

She kicked up such a fuss because he gave Cindy a card. If he told her that he wanted to remarry, Amber would probably think he was insane!

Even if they indeed loved each other eleven years ago, the affection between them had been eroded by what he did.

Sean sneered and said, “Amber, Cindy is my daughter. shouldn’t I pay alimony?”

“I didn’t sign the divorce agreement before you went through the divorce formalities!”

“I’m trying to comply with the agreement you made with my father. I’m trying not to disturb your life! Amber, don’t push me to the cliff!”

Amber breathed quickly. Sean could hear it. She seemed to be crying.

Sean actually seldom saw Amber cry.

Just because he gave Cindy money, Amber cried?

That was ridiculous!

Sean sneered.

She hated him so much that she was reluctant to accept anything from him?

The pent-up feeling seemed to be a piece of cloth soaked in water, covering his mouth and nose. He couldn’t breathe and felt like smashing something.

Sean kept silent for a while before speaking blankly.

“Cindy’s enrollment procedures have been completed. It is the kindergarten where Mrs. Joseph’s son goes to.” Sean paused, and continued, “Tomorrow Cindy can go to school, and the teacher has been arranged. In the evening, she will come to your home and give Cindy an English tutoring.”

Amber kept silent. Sean could feel her unwillingness.

Sean was irritated by Amber’s stubborn attitude. He paused and then whispered, “I have good news for you.”

“You don’t have to worry that I would pester you after I know the addresses of you and Cindy.”

“I’ve booked a flight in the early morning, and I will return home with Gu Jinyan.”

Amber finally reacted.

This sentence was the most pleasant among what Sean said.

She lowered her eyes, and there was some brilliance in her pupils.

She wanted to ask why he came to Los Angeles with such serious injuries.

Amber opened her mouth and was unable to get this question out.

Since Sean was going back home, he would not have much to do with her and Cindy’s life.

Amber hung up the phone blankly.

Sean froze for a moment. Hearing the busy tone, he took a look at the phone, and made sure Amber had hung up.

Sean threw the phone aside with a darkened face.

Gu Jinyan turned his head and glanced at him, “Sean, why don’t I know you are going back with me?”

Sean squinted at Gu Jinyan.

“Now you know.”

“A sudden decision?”

Gu Jinyan didn’t mind Sean’s bad attitude.

But Sean didn’t want to talk about this.

He did not answer, and Gu Jinyan did not continue to ask. Sean leaned in the wheelchair and closed his eyes and asked Gu Jinyan, “What time is it?”

Gu Jinyan glanced at the phone and said, “It’s five minutes to four o’clock.”

“Tell Xu Lin to drive to the hospital.”

Fifteen minutes later, in Los Angeles Hospital.

The doctor checked Sean, prescribed some medicine, and fixed the position of Sean’s ribs.

Gu Jinyan couldn’t believe his eyes.

He almost laughed when he saw the medical record. He pushed open the ward door in anger, and threw the medical record onto the table.

Sean raised his eyes, fixedly looking at Gu Jinyan with a blank face.

Gu Jinyan was even angrier, “Sean, what did you do this afternoon? Have you forgotten your ribs are broken?”

“You knew it was a very dangerous thing to be discharged. I thought you would bear it until you return to Tong City. You think you are a superman or something?”
