Please Let Me Go
Chapter 56 Heartache

When he pushed the door open, a strong smell of disinfectant came into nose. There was only one bed, a toilet and a bathroom. A few basin of cactus was on the windowsill. The nurse had left. Adelaide was wearing oxygen bottle and phial in her right hand. He went to the left of the woman, took out the chair under the bed and sat down.

He holds Adelaide's hand, but he did not know what to say.

Antonio did not even blink, for fear of missing Adelaide's adverse reaction.

Ten o'clock in the evening, his stomach growled. Antonio remembered that he did not have dinner, so he hurried to the nurses.

"It's okay. We gave her liquid nutrition." The nurse said. Antonio was tired, but he was still handsome.

The nurse had never seen so good-looking a man, so she talked more with him. Thanks to his handsome look, the nurse said she could help him look at Adelaide and let he can go out to have dinner. When he walked out of the gate of hospital, he found it was noisy outside, which made him lonely.

He walked into a restaurant and ordered a bowl of fried rice. Maybe the cook didn't taste good or maybe he missed Adelaide, he only took two bites and then paid to leave.

At this time, Damla called and said, "Mr. Antonio, it's nine o'clock now. Aren't you and Miss Adelaide going home today?"

If not Damla, he did not know it was at night. Under the irradiation of street light, his shadow was long. Thinking that she would worry about Adelaide, he did not tell her what happened.

Damla said, "Miss Hanna came in the afternoon. She said Miss Adelaide did not answer her call."

Antonio nodded and answered perfunctorily.

Then he hung up the phone, but he did not have the courage to explain to Hanna. If Hanna knew Adelaide get shot, she would be angry at him.

Antonio passed by the fruit store and bought some, in case Adelaide woke up at night and wanted to eat.

He looked left and right in front of the stall, but he didn't know what kind of fruit Adelaide liked to eat. He suddenly found that he didn't know much about Adelaide. He didn't know what kind of food she liked, he didn't know her bestie's phone number, and he didn't know what she liked.

Antonio scratched his head, let the owner of the fruit shop to pick a few kinds of fruit. The boss was a clever person. He took some expensive fruits to him.

When he got to the door, the boss suddenly called out to him, "Hey! I suppose you are going to visit the sick. Why don't you take some flowers with you?"

He thought of that day he was forced to hold a bunch of flowers and pretend by Jerry. In fact, he saw Adelaide was happy because of his flowers, so he nodded and came to the flower shop.

Among the flowers, he tried to replace the kind of flower Jerry had given him the other day.

He told owner all he could remember about the flowers.

The owner from a corner took out a basin of purple hyacinths.

Antonio shook his head, "Well, the color is different!" He vaguely remembered that it was red.

The owner showed a smile, "It is hyacinth, but it has a lot of color. Don't worry, that patient will like it!"

Antonio finally bought a pot of hyacinth. As for the breeding method the owner did not tell him. Antonio walked back to the ward.

Adelaide didn't wake up at that time, but there was nothing wrong with her. Antonio thanked nurse again and gave some of his fruit to the nurse. After the nurse left, Antonio could not hide his sadness in eyes. He said, "Adelaide, wake up and see what I have got you."

Then there was a long silence. Antonio hurried out to buy a basin and a towel thinking that Adelaide did not take a shower.

Then he helped her to wipe her body. If Adelaide woke up, she would probably be happy.

The next day at noon, Adelaide finally opened her eyes and saw Antonio. Because he hadn't sleft for a whole night, he grew a lot of stubble on his chin. "Adelaide, are you awake?"

Antonio was overjoyed. Regardless of exhaustion, he hurriedly ran out to replace a doctor.

The doctor carefully checked Adelaide again and left after he was sure there was no danger.

The nurse helped Adelaide remove her oxygen tank, indicating that she could talk and eat.

Antonio fed her food, wiped her face and gave her water.

"Adelaide, you've gone too far! If you keep like this, I will leave you alone." God knew how he got through this period of her coma.

Adelaide was astounding! She did not understand why this man suddenly got angry?

"Adelaide, you are my woman. You should listen to me!" He said.

She blushed and nodded, knowing that he was worried about her.

The man was calm. "I have asked Hanna to come here. I'll go to the company soon!" Actually he did not company but wanted to catch those gangsters!

Adelaide nodded. She knew Antonio cared about her, but he did not say it out. So she felt pleased.[
