The plan moves forward beautifully. I'm almost overwhelmed by it, the efficiency with which my team works and the ease with which things move forward. I'm incredibly pleased, but then also a little disappointed in myself for not doing this any sooner. Honestly, what was I so afraid of? Burton is the busiest, of course, with the wedding tomorrow. But his precise nature and impeccable taste have him running through the fine details quickly and efficiently. He pops into the bedroom every hour or so to check on some detail or another and I feel so incredibly good that it's all in his hands. Honestly, if he ever decides to stop being a butler he'll have a wonderful career as a wedding planner.

Bridgette, I think, has the most fun, as her job is basically a vacation day with Ivan. The two of them spend most of their time playing outside with Archie. Alvin surprised me - though, honestly, I don't know why I was surprised - by begging to be Miss Georgia's helper today.

I asked her what she thought and she consented readily, so Alvin has been following her around being her little secretary - a role he once played for his father - carrying her papers and helping to keep her organized. My little heart almost can't handle the sweet way he follows her around like a puppy dog, worship in his eyes.

My day is busy too, working to manage the big picture details from afar, but as it winds down I replace that I am...so much more relaxed, at the end of the day, than I have been in weeks. Maybe months.

Victor notices this immediately when he comes into the bedroom later that night, looking exhausted himself.

"Wow," he says, when I bounce off of the bed to greet him with a happy hug. "You look...you look so happy, Evelyn," he continues, pulling away from me to look down into my face.

"I am so happy," I say, grinning up at him. "Your idea - and talking to Annabeth - it was the best thing for me. And honestly, this is what I'm going to have to do as Luna anyway. I'm so glad I learned this lesson now, of how to split my tasks. It's been so fun, working with people managing it from afar -"

"Good," Victor says, pulling off his suitcoat and loosening his tie. "But I'm afraid that you're going to have to give even that up for a little bit too, Evie."

"What?" I say, my face falling. "Why?"

"Because," he replies, coming back to me and putting his hands on my waist. "For the next twenty-four hours or so, you're a bride. And you shouldn't concentrate on anything but that."

I gasp, turning to the clock. "Oh my god," I murmur. "It's our wedding day."

Victor nods, pulling me close and lowering his face to my hair, taking a long sniff of my scent. "It is," he says. "Happy wedding day, little mate."

"Oh my god!" I gasp, suddenly realizing -

I step away from Victor, swatting at him. "Go away!" I shriek, "go away, right now! You can't see me!"

"What!?"

"It's the day of the wedding! It's bad luck for you to see me before I'm walking down the aisle!"

"Wait, what!?" he gasps, laughing, taking a step closer to me so he can wrap his arms around me, mostly so that I stop hitting him, I think, instead of as a mark of his affection. "Isn't that only in the dress?"

"Um," I say, thinking about it. "Well, I don't know! I think it's all of it! You can't see me - you're going to jinx it!"

"Evie," he laughs, lowering his head to my shoulder. "Don't you think that we, as a couple, have had all of the jinxing we can get?"

"Nope!" I say, shaking my head vehemently. "Things are really good right now! I'm not risking a jinxing!"

"Oh my god," he murmurs, sighing and laughing at once. Then, he lifts his head from my shoulder and looks at me evenly. "Seriously, Evelyn? You're not going to let me sleep with you tonight, because of a superstition?"

"Please close your eyes when you're asking me this," I say, raising a hand and attempting to point a finger in his face as I speak. "Every moment longer that you see me, the risk of a jinx increases tenfold."

Victor laughs harder, shaking his head at me, but he obliges me by closing his eyes. "Is that better?" he asks, loosening his grip around me so that I can turn in his arms. I do just that, wrapping my arms around his neck and looking up into his face, so incredibly handsome even when I can't see his pretty green eyes.

"Yes," I murmur, grinning. "Actually I quite like you like this - I could keep so many more secrets. And not have to wear makeup ever again."

He growls, pulling me closer against him, making me laugh. "It would be a great cruelty, Evelyn," he whispers to me. "To never let me see you again, just so you can have an easier makeup routine."

"But think of the savings," I say, sighing and leaning in against him. "We could save...dozens of dollars every year."

"Temping," he replies, tiling his head to the side and pretending to think about it. "But, I think I'll take my sight over those incredible savings."

"Okay," I say quietly, still smiling at him. I raise my hands to run them through his silky hair, relishing the feel of him close next to me. "Just not tonight. Or tomorrow, until the wedding hour. For the sake of the jinx."

"Seriously, Evelyn?" he says, disbelief coming into his voice as he opens his eyes and looks at me. I shriek and cover my face.

"All right!" he says, laughing and pressing his eyes shut. "I closed them again! All right. You win."

"It's just one night," I say.

"How's this supposed to work?" he sighs, and I let him feel the love surging through me down our bond. I'm so grateful for a mate that indulges me in the little things like this.

"You'll just have to go sleep elsewhere," I say, sighing and giving a little shrug I know he can't see. "Bunk down with the boys."

"With them?" he says, appalled. "But they're they kick in their sleep-"

"The things one does for one's bride," I say, sighing dramatically. "They have an air mattress for their friends. Sleep on that."

"The night before my wedding," he says, shaking his head. "Sleeping on an air mattress."

"Unjinxed," I point out, "on an air mattress."

"Whatever you want, Evelyn," Victor says, shaking his head again and then pulling me close for a kiss. I smile as I kiss him back, letting the kiss deepen, letting him know how much I love him and hopefully giving him a little glimpse of just how I'm going to thank him for this later.

"Thank you, baby," I whisper in reply when he pulls away. Then I dash off to the closet to grab some pajamas for Victor and, placing them in his hands, guide him towards our bedroom door. He shakes his head at me again as he leaves, his eyes still closed, and then walks down the hall to the boys' room.

There, he quickly knocks on the door before opening it. "Boys?" he calls. "Mommy's crazy. I'm bunking with you tonight."

"Yayyy!" both boys call out, and I close the door to my room, filled with love for my weird little family. And fully doubting that I'm going to be able to sleep at all, because I'm that excited for tomorrow.
