Chapter 18

Enjeru

I always wonder do other people replace their fortune to good to be true? I knew as soon as Angelique was cleared by the doctor there was to be hell for me. After that look she gave me on Friday I was prepared for something to happen on Tuesday. What I wasn’t expecting was her storming into the room and attempting to choke me to death before beating the shit out of me. It wasn’t expected, but it wasn’t unexpected either. It took at least 6 people to pull her off of me. I didn’t try to fight back or harm her yet I’m the one locked in a room with no visitors allowed.

I know this was Marcus’s idea, and he most likely convinced every other elder that it was for my own safety. Protection my ass. I snap my fingers, but nothing happens telling me this room is blocking my magic. I could probably break the spell, but that’s work I don’t want to do. I sigh knowing I’m going to be extremely bored. I look around for anything to do, but all that’s around is a bible. I sigh falling back onto my pillow and silence engulfs me. I can’t help, but wonder if this is what they were waiting for? The perfect excuse to lock me away. To say it’s for my safety when really no one plans to open those doors. I stare at the doors willing them open and suddenly they do. I jump a little as the doctor enters.

“Ms. Chi we need to take you with us in order to run some test.”

I nod happy I’ll at least get to have contact with someone else.

I follow behind the doctor and we veer off to the left. As I look around I notice that the signs and arrows say we’re heading towards more rooms, but none of which have anything to do with any sort of test. I shrug it off thinking that maybe this test involves magic and not machines so they’re taking me to a special room where magic is allowed. Then a chill runs down my spine. Something is very wrong right now and I get the feeling this man is not a doctor. I slow down until I stop. I quickly turn around, but two female nurses are behind me smiling and motioning for me to move forward. I begin to panic a little, but keep it inside knowing I need to stay calm. I sprint through the two nurses knocking them down then back to the area I know a little. When I see a front desk I run up towards, but slow down at the smell of blood. I look over the counter to see what remains of the poor nurses that were stationed here. I can tell by the claw marks and the way the bodies have been ripped apart that werewolves have been here. And I can only assume those nurse and that doctor were the ones who did this. Footsteps in the distance pull me from my thoughts and cause me to start running. I vaguely remember being brought in here so I try to follow the way we came before. As I turn a corner I can see glass doors up ahead through the sensor appears to be off. I slam my body into the door breaking through the glass doors and running right into chaos. People being attacked, fighting, blood, to much blood. It’s almost overwhelming, but I focus on getting my things and assisting the others. I dodge a slash made at me by claws and kick the wolf to the side. He cries in pain before reverting back to human form to curl up in a ball. I pick him up by his shirt and he looks at me with a smile.

“Who sent you?”

“Not telling.” He smirks before slitting his own throat.”

I drop his body knowing the same will happen with any other I meet on the way. Werewolves pride levels that of vampires. Both would rather die than betray their brothers or sisters, but I have a good idea of why they’re here. My brother has more than likely sent them here to collect me. I meet two more wolves on the way to my room but I take care of them easily. I run into my room throwing the medical dress to the side and slipping into my clothes. With a deep breath, I open the door knowing the three imposters from earlier are outside waiting. I see the doctor run forward, but I stop them all with a movement of my hand. Their eye show fear and they should because I don’t believe in mercy. I draw my blade, and with a quick flick of my wrist, they’re all cut down. I step over the bodies and blood heading towards the main fight. Someone immediately pulls me to the side and covers my mouth in the process. I elbow them and they groan and falling back. When I turn my blade is pointed at Jake’s pained face.

“Jake?!?!? What are you doing?”

“You can’t go out there right now. They’re here for you. There’s too many for you to take on in this state.”

“No, I’m not going to sit here and watch everyone die. I’ve done that enough. I never help the situation I just always make it worse. This is my way of helping. This is the only way I know how.”

“Fine, but you’re not going out there alone.”

“Damn straight she isn’t.”

We turn to see Micah a bit beaten up, but appearing still happy. He has a large cut on his forehead and possibly third-degree burns, but he stands tall smiling at us. I nod to the too the both of them knowing there’s no way of convincing them otherwise. I count down taking a few breaths. I close my eyes focusing myself on the task at hand. I step out into the open releasing my full aura. A strong wind rocks everyone as all eyes land on me.

“I’m not going back, and I’m not going to let you dogs destroy my new home.”

“My Queen we have been tasked with bringing you back even if that means by force.”

“Then I guess we fight.”

He nods to me then I can see him and his friends begin to phase. One lunges at me from the left I close my eyes sidestepping out of the way while cutting him in half with my blade. Blood sprays everywhere and growls come from all around. I open my eyes to see a large pack facing me. Micah and Jake run to my sides weapons ready. I point my blade to the werewolves.

“Surrender now, or die.”

They begin circling us.

“Then die a fool’s death.”

Micah

Enjeru stands tall blade pointed at the pack leader. They stare at each other fire in their eyes. He makes the first move lunging at Jake instead of Enjeru, two Attack me, and six surround Enjeru. A claw swipe catches me tearing my clothes and flesh. My arm starts to go numb, and gets harder to move. My sickle falls from my hand. I close my eye praying that death comes quick.

“Move it dumbass you’re not dying now or ever unless I say so.”

“Angelique!” I say in shock as my eyes open.

The wolf snaps at her neck but she cuts him down. The other she wounds. She bends down next to me, and begins to attend to my wound.

“But how you were. . .”

“Sedated I know, but medicine doesn’t work on me for long. I knew something was up so i left my room only to be met with this bullshit.”

I can see she’s a bit banged up as well. She has her leg wrapped and blood I seeping through the bandages on top of a nasty bruise forming on her cheek but she doesn’t show she’s hurting.

“Angie…”

“I’m fine and you are too now, so get up and fight like you want to live.”

I watch her run into battle joining some members of team delta. A scream grabs my attention. I see Enjeru, but her leg is a bloody mess. She stands putting most of her weight on her right foot. She pulls out her guns, and begins firing round after round into the wolves head until he falls down dead. Her leg has been chewed up, but she doesn’t let that stop her from fighting. She finished off the last two wolves around her with Her guns before sighing in relief. I hear a growl in front of me and see the leader of the pack. He attempts to pounce, but I dodge back throwing my chain so it wraps around his legs. He falls to the ground growling. He slowly begins to morph back to his human state.

“You think you won don’t you? You think just because you’ve contained us your wrong. We will get what we want in the end.”

“You’ve lost Kariin give up.” Enjeru says as she hobbles over to me.

“You of all people know I don’t give up that easily my Queen.

He snaps the chain, and makes a dash for Angelique. Everything seems to slow down. Angelique turns around slowly, her sword sheathed. Jake screams for her to look out. A flash of black hair goes by her, and the wolf is on the ground a katana blade through his heart. Enjeru grips her sword tightly removing it from his chest then she falls over. I rush to her wondering if it’s the injury to her leg. But when I roll her over there’s a blade lodged in her chest. It appears black at first, but then turns silver as a dark liquid seems to seep into her body. I stand there frozen unsure of what’s going on.

Jake comes over removing the blade the tip still coated in the black substance.

“Jake, what is that?”

“Poison. A very special kind of poison. Kiro must have made it. He probably knew the wolves would lose so he decided to take one of us out. Most likely to scare Enjeru.”

“And what does it do?”

“I don’t know he makes all if his poisons black and they usually can’t be studied so no one knows how or what they’re made of.”

“So what happens to those people who are poisoned?”

“Well in most cases the person would die, but because Enjeru was stabbed and not Angelique she may never wake up again.”

“Good riddance. I wanted to lock her up. . . . ”

Before I know what’s happening Angelique is laying in front of me holding her cheek. She looks at me furious.

“Don’t say another fucking word about her. She gave her life for yours and you can’t even have the decency to say thank you? She could have let you die I would have if I was her.”

She raises her fist while staring straight into my soul. Then she punches me.

“Why should I apologize for her doing her job. Isn’t this what she signed up for?” She taunts.

Jake has to hold me back as she walks off.

“Micah calm down we need to worry about Enjeru for now.”

I yank myself out of his grip, and lift Enjeru in my arms. Maybe Enjeru was right maybe Angel’s are the terrible people.
