“What’s that smell?” one of the ass-hats asked.

Shit! I had forgotten about my masking spray. I hoped the guys had some idea how to tell what the smell was, or I was as dead as a door nail.

“Mash, alcool,” Matheus answered.

“It’s how he makes his wine. It stinks to high heaven. Why do you think we were outside,” Manuel explained.

“Onde estão os meus animas, Manuel?”

“Euos deixei sair, eles me morderam,” Manual answered.

“What did he say?” One of the ass-hats asked irritably.

“He asked where his animals were. I told him I let them out because they tried to bite me,” Manuel answered.

“She’s not here. We’ve checked every nook and cranny, can we leave now before I’m sick,” another ass-hat whined.

“Come on, idiota!” the other ass-hat ordered.

“Tisque-te bunda,” Matheus said as he waved.

Okay, I’m going to change this to best day ever! The musketeers were seriously funny. They should go on some comedy tour. I mean, bye you ass - what’s better than those words, especially when the idiots don’t know what you’re saying.

The guys went back outside, standing around and talking. I heard them as soon as the guys went outside. I hung out for a little longer. I was too shook up and was wondering who the next fucker to show up. I didn’t want to see the monster, even if it was only on the monitor. I would seize up, not be able to think, move or shoot. I had to get rid of this fear of him. I was holding myself back. I talked a good game and most of the time I could back it up, but with him I shrank in fear. I was hoping if I got mad enough I would break out of the fear. I just didn’t know.

Matheus, Manuel and Madrid walked back into the house, moving quietly but trying to make a little bit of noise. I knew they did for my sake to but they had to move as if they weren't from the military. Military men and women were easy to spot because they didn't make a lot of noise and they held themselves differently.

Matheus slid the false wall back. “You ready to come out now?”

“Mayday, Matheus,” Madrid hissed.

“They’re back. Hang on,” Matheus joked.

“Ha-ha. Get rid of these fuckers, please.”

The wall slid back, along with the cover on the inside. I stayed silent and tried to listen. I knew the front door wasn’t shut. I guess they wanted me to hear. I was getting a bad feeling in my gut, one I knew to listen to. I snapped to attention, listening closer, straining to hear even more. I had excellent hearing, even in human form. Plus, I learned to read lips, not that it would help right now.

“Where is she?” Paulo Barbosa asked.

I froze, didn’t breathe, didn’t make a sound. I was scared shitless, my heart was pounding and my blood pressure was rising. I closed my eyes and took a slow breath in and let my breath out just as slowly. I kept up with my breathing exercises that Manuel’s brother taught me. I was slowly calming down, getting my heart rate back in control. My muscles slowly relaxed. But, I was far from okay. This was the monster of a monster’s nightmares. He sickened me so much so I felt as if I was going to be literally sick. I kept swallowing hard, hoping to keep from dry heaving.

“We told the boys-” Manuel tried to say.

“Quer outra bebida, imao?” Matheus slurred.

Manuel tipped his hand to face in a drink motion.

“Impyerno, oo!” Madrid answered slurring his words.

Matheus came into the house, looking for Selina’s masking spray. He found where she hid one under the stove top. She had it marked as a cleaning solution. He picked up a cup, spraying the masking spray into his and Madrid’s glass, adding water. When he was done, he walked back outside and handed Madrid his cup. He hoped the General knew not to drink it. Either way it would be something to see. He was trying hard to not breathe in the concoction. It was very potent. He wondered if this was the old stuff she mentioned.

“Well, I’m waiting. Where the hell is she?”

“We don’t know,” Manuel shouted. “We have told you guys this time and time again. How the hell would we know? And, who the hell are you and why are you looking for that girl?”

Oh, God, Manuel. He might as well bend over and kiss his ass goodbye. The monster was unpredictable. To question him, shout at him, and question him again was the biggest way to get dead.

“Watch it, boy. You don’t want to speak to me like you just did, ever. I can make your life a living hell,” the monster hissed at Manuel.

“Sorry, sir. I’m trying to talk with some old friends and being an interpreter is hard work between both of them. They don’t understand each other at all. I didn’t mean to come of as a hateful person,” Manuel told the monster. He wanted to get away from this man. He couldn’t believe Seri and his brother had to put up with this man.

I heard something hit the deck hard. The tunnels plate slid back quietly and I stayed as quiet as I could, taking slow breaths in and out. He would kill the musketeers if he found me. I was wondering how he didn’t know who Matheus was. Yeah, cause that’s the number one thing I should be thinking of..
