“Good Evening, Boston. Eliza here with my co-host, Colton, for a special edition of the Hockey Report.”

“Thanks, Eliza. Are you as excited as I am about our special guests?”

“Of course, Colton. I told you the edging would be worth it.”

“Please stop saying things like that in public. Actually, for the sake of my sanity, please stop saying things like that period.”

“Oh,” Sara squeals. “I love a good edging.”

Brooks chuckles. “She really does.”

“Thank you.” Eliza huffs a laugh. “For those out there who don’t recognize these voices, let me make quick introductions. Colton and I have the honor of visiting with Boston’s own Brooks Langfield tonight, as well as his girlfriend, Sara Case. Thank you both so much for joining us.”

“Thanks for having us. We love your podcast,” Sara says. “And we appreciate the opportunity to set the record straight regarding our relationship.”

“Before we get to that, we need to talk about that goal, Brooks,” Colton prods.

Sara giggles. “He’s not normally so excited when a puck makes it into the net.”

“Of course he isn’t, since it’s his job to block them,” Colton says. “But those last ten seconds of the game against LA were impressive. We’ll be watching replays for years to come. Not only did Brooks block a slapshot, but before the guys could get down to the goal, he lined it up and shot it straight across the ice and right into LA’s net.”

Sara laughs. “It was epic.”

Even to the fans listening, it’s obvious Brooks’s sigh is a mix of exasperation and fondness. “Sara’s excitement has very little to do with the goal. At the beginning of the season, her best friend declared that because we were dating, I’d have such good luck that I’d score a goal this season. Now the two of them think she’s a psychic.”

“Better than being a psycho,” Sara teases.

“Oh, you’ll always be my crazy girl, Sar. Even if your best friend thinks she’s psychic.”

“Sounds like the two of you have a lot to celebrate,” Eliza says. “Your teammates were certainly excited. It looked like the entire team jumped on you at the end of the game. But then, Sara, you ran out onto the ice to congratulate Brooks. What was that moment like for you?”

“I wouldn’t say she ran out onto the ice. She skidded on her ass across the ice is more like it.” Brooks chuckles.

“Shut it, mister, or I’ll tell them all about your Lisa Frank obsession.”

“Sara,” Brooks warns.

“I loved Lisa Frank when I was a kid,” Eliza chirps. “All the purples and pinks. Oh! And the sparkles.”

“Oh, Brooks is a huge fan,” Sara teases.

“Anyway,” Brooks grumbles. “Was there a question in there somewhere?”

“Oh, yes,” Eliza says. “You ran out to him and he picked you up. Then the two of you clearly had a conversation that made her smile even more brightly. Would you share with us what you talked about?”

Sara lets out a light laugh. “You caught that, eh?”

“I think all of Boston caught it,” Colton chides. “It’s trending on social media.”

“I asked her to move in with me,” Brooks says proudly.

“And I said yes.”

“Congratulations! You heard it here first, Boston. Brooks Langfield is a taken man. First Beckett, now you. How many more Langfield brothers are there? Two? Do you think love is in the air for either of them?”

Sara sighs. “I have my theories. I’m not ready to share them, but I will tell you that whoever they fall in love with better be fabulous, because Beckett’s wife, Liv, and I are awesome.”

Brooks’s responding laugh is full of pure affection. “Okay, crazy girl. Let’s go home.”
