Puppy Love -
Chapter 33
~Liam~
My heart beat so fast that I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Josephine in my arms as we explored her pleasure together, the pleasure. that resonated with mine.
The way her body moved and curled to my touch.
The way she welcomed my k****s, my caresses.
How she let me. There was no denying that this was indeed ordained, and I knew I might break before she turned eighteen.
Laying on the mat under the velvet sky, staring at the sparkling diamonds that graced the night along with the moon.
Everything was far away, and all that mattered was the two of us.
Cuddled in my arms, I breathed her in. Her dill scent intoxicated me. There was no way I would have won should I have attempted to fight our bond.
The moon knows precisely what I need.
With her in my arms, I longed for the day when being this close would be permanent, and we wouldn’t have to sleep in a separate bed or control ourselves anymore.
I longed for the moment and wished upon the moon to grant me my heart’s desire.
“Li,” Josephine said and turned to look at me. She was beautiful under the moonlight. Her eyes resonated with the light, and she looked like the goddess herself.
She looked like a piece of the moon. I couldn’t help but reach out and touch her cheek to caress her face in awe of her beauty.
How could I have been so blind? She had always been there. Instead, I prepared to chase someone who wasn’t meant to be mine.
“Jo,” I managed, and she smiled at me.
“I don’t want to go back and sleep on a separate bed,” She said, and I wondered if she could feel our bond too.
“Neither do, but Justin will object,” I reminded her, and she giggled.
“He would say, ‘You two should act responsibly'” She said, trying to mimic Justin, and it was cute.
“I hope he replaces someone pretty soon so he can get occupied,” She said, and I wished the same for my cousin too. He had waited too long to continue holding out.
We stayed there for a while longer and decided to head back later. Josephine was reluctant, and I knew why.
Entering the packhouse, I heard sounds coming from the common room. I figured people were there. Josephine and I decided to join in.
We found Noah and Sebastien watching an old polo match they had missed two days ago. I wondered if we would be able to play the game during our leisure in Grizlo.
Marvin was there, and Oliver was sleeping on the couch. There was no point lingering. Josephine and I left the room and headed to the beta’s wing.
I walked Josephine to her bedroom door, and she let me in. I could see she was reluctant to let me leave.
So, are you excited about the people joining our investigation?” She asked me while we were both standing in the same spot.
I knew she didn’t want to talk about our investigation, but she was trying to strike up a conversation so I could linger.
I understood.
I moved closer to her, eliminating the distance between us. Her breathing quickened, and she looked up to gaze into my eyes.
Her lips parted slightly, making me wonder if a word was about to slip right through.
Her cheeks coloured, and I could only remember how she looked while we made out.
“Jo, you keep looking at me like that, I will break.” I said, and she moved closer until our bodies touched, daring me to break. She might not have said it, but her eyes said it all.
“Maybe I want you to break Liam,” she teased, and I crashed my lips against hers, grabbing on tightly and at the same time gentle enough not to hurt her.
Josephine responded hungrily, and her scent permeated the air just like it did by the stream, but I had to reign in my desires.
I felt her hand under my shirt while we kissed; every touch sent tingles throughout my body. I let her explore, hoping I would be able to stop when necessary.
I broke the k**s and stepped away from her. My teeth were elongated, and Alex wanted to claim her.
My father was right when he said I should learn to control my wolf because wolves were impulsive.
I plan to do so henceforth.
Josephine’s eyes flickered from her moon-coloured eyes to the frosty blue of her wolf. Had I not stepped away, we would have gone farther.
Placing her hand against her chest, she chuckled.
“Give me a magic wand to speed up time, Li. I want to be eighteen now,” she said, and with those words, we were both laughing.
“Tomorrow then,” I managed, still standing fixed on the spot, and she laughed and nodded, pointing at the door.
“Tomorrow, Li, and thank you for today. It was a beautiful experience,” She said, the sincerity of her words evident in her eyes.
I reluctantly left her room and entered mine.
“Do we have to wait until she is eighteen? It won’t make any difference, really,” Alex complained in my head, and I tried to quiet him, but he wasn’t going to go down easy.
“She is ours, and we have accepted her; what next?
Waiting is for chosen mates. Come on, Li, I doubt can keep holding back,”
Alex said, and I headed to take a cold shower because there was no way I would have a good night’s sleep with a live e******n.
Throughout the shower, Alex whined and whined, giving many reasons why we should move fast.
“You overthink things until you ruin a good thing,”
Alex said, and it made me laugh.
I wore my shorts and lay on the bed.
“I believe you should thank me for overthinking things, or we would have been in a love triangle mess right now,” I said, and he was silent.
Sleep eventually came, and I did not wake up until morning.
I got ready in a hurry, eager to see Josephine. After getting dressed, I went to knock on Jsoephine’s door. I wanted us to go for breakfast together.
After knocking twice, she did not answer. I decided to link her.
“Hey, I am at the door,” I said.
“In the shower, go ahead of me. I will join you at the dining. Don’t let anyone sit on my seat,” She said, making me chuckle.
I walked away and headed to the dining.
Everyone was already there except for Jo and me.
To my surprise, my seat and Jo’s seat were left empty. Marvin and Sebastien had a knowing look in their eyes, and I wondered what they knew.
I managed to go and sit on my chair, and Justin cleared his throat.
“Jo said she was coming with you,” Justin enquired, and I nodded.
“She will be down soon,” I said.
“How was your date?” Sebastien asked, putting emphasis on ‘date’, which meant it had meaning, and I did not respond.
Jo finally joined us and sat beside me.
Without thinking, I placed my hand on her thigh under the table, and she smiled. Justin cleared his throat, ready to address us, and we were attentive.
“We will soon welcome a new team member to our team. Alpha Caspian of Cain Island. The council and royal family believe his case is linked to ours, and might help shed light on what happened to Thompson and maybe help us replace Sophia,” he said, saying ‘Sophia’ not so confidently again.
“I want to use this time to address the Liam and Sophia jokes. As we all know that the two are only friends, and Liam’s past utterance was out of desperation to make her essential enough for the royal family to intervene, I want us to stop teasing him about Sophia. We do not want to hurt our dear
Josephine’s feelings,” he said.
Josephine widened her eyes, embarrassed by Jutin’s utterances, but he had a point. I did not want to defend myself in the future or have her think I would be fickle about my resolve.
“Let us respect their relationship just like they respect yours, for those of you that have girlfriends. I am sure we can all do that,” He said, and everyone agreed, but they still chuckled and giggled in the process.
“Back to the topic. We do not know Caspian or whether or not we can trust him, so we will have to be careful, learn all we can from him and reveal little. Let him believe he is being taken along, just long enough until we are certain that we can trust him. Lady Claudia will be arriving today, and we will join her at the hospital so we can know the fate of the housekeeper; however, let’s not put too much fate that the woman would survive. Before Lady Claudia arrives, we will be heading back to Sam Street to interrogate the neighbours and listen to their accounts of the event,” he explained and looked at Noah and Sebastien, then Charlotte and Josephine.
“I know the four of you are good interrogators, but we need the people to be confident. For those who sense that they are lying, do not call them out on their bullshit so they don’t panic and run.
Entertain their stories and then analyse them after the questions.
Do you think you can do that?” he asked us, and we nodded.
“What about the Gamma and Delta? It is obvious they are in on this thing. They never arrived at the Grizlo Academy’s hall to guard the party. Their alibis did not check out, so we should look into investigating them as people of interest,” Marvin said, and he had a point.
All focus was on Mike. The truth was the three of them followed Thomson to the dock that night.
They could have waited for Thompson at his house and slaughtered him and his family, only to pin it on Mike. The fact that we had yet to hear Mike’s angle made it possible to guess.
“All evidence point to Mike. His fur was in the claw marks that dealt the killing blows. He did it,” Justin said and looked at me.
“But that does not mean they do not have a hand in it. Noah made a valid point saying they should know where their colleague is. There is no way those two do not have an idea of what is going on.
We need to increase our interest in them,” I said, and everyone agreed.
“I know, but today, we will question Grandma’s neighbours and replace out what they know.
Hopefully, it won’t lead to a dead end.” Justin said, and we agreed.
