Purchased A Mr. Right
Chapter 1224

Anthea and Adam both looked at Amelie.

Amelie crossed her hands in front of her and stood there calmly. "I have something to tell you. Can you stay with me alone for some time, Adam?"

Perhaps it was because Adam and Anthea had seen Amelie wearing an apron when they entered the door in the afternoon, they had the impression that Amelie was as tender as a good wife or good mother, although it could not be denied that Amelie also appeared to be valiant and smart while wearing the military uniform.

Anthea felt that her eyelids were trembling.

"Staying with her alone"... What did Amelie mean? Couldn't she just say it to Adam while Anthea was present? Amelie did not wait for Adam's reply. Instead, she asked Anthea directly, "Miss Lee, you don't mind it, do you?"

Are you playing the same trick again?

The corners of Anthea's lips twitched slightly. "Amelie is so sophisticated!"

Anthea did mind it!

Anthea tried to maintain her smile around her lips. "I don't mind!"

"Thanks. I'll just talk to Adam for a little while!" Chen Jia's smile deepened.

Anthea turned to look at Adam, who was submissive, as if he was Anthea's little cat. "You can talk to Miss Celestin first. I'll wait for you in the car!"

Hearing this, Adam raised his hand and rubbed his head. After that, he closed the car door.

Amelie lifted her chin slightly as a gesture of leaving together. Then she and Adam walked more than ten steps to the side.

After the car door was closed, Anthea immediately stopped pretending to be "a graceful girl who always smiled". Now, she was as stern-looking as Adam's father, and her eyes were firmly fixed on Adam and Amelie.

Amelie's back was facing Anthea, and therefore she could not see Amelie's facial expressions clearly. She could only see those of Adam's. However, most of the time, Adam was a man of calm nature, and others could only see a poker face of him.

Anthea's ears were almost pressed to the car window in order to hear them talking clearly.

Unfortunately, the window had very good soundproofing effects, and not a single word of their conversation could be heard by Anthea!

If Anthea pushed open the car door at this moment, would she be discovered by Adam and Amelie?

Anthea felt annoyed, as if her heart was being scratched by the paws of a hundred cats.

Ah! D*mn it!"

"What're they talking about? They have been talking for so long!"

Amelie deliberately walked to a place a little far away from the jeep. She wrapped her arms around her own shoulders and made a very delicate and touching gesture. "Adam, I'm sorry. Last time when my dad and I visited your house, I left directly without telling you. I was out of my mind back then. I think I should apologize to you now. Don't be angry with me!"

She spoke in a natural and generous tone and was by no means bashful.

Adam stood there still, keeping a straight face.

"When I went back home, I began to think about what you had said that day. I could understand everything!" Amelie's tone became slightly bitter. Then, she shrugged his shoulders in relief. "I thought I had hidden my thought well, but I hadn't expected you were aware of it!

"To tell you the truth, I had been secretly in love with you since I was a child, but I was never courageous enough to tell you, 'I love you'. I could only follow your footsteps and worked hard, dreaming that someday I might be able to stand side by side with you. Later on, I watched you marry another woman, divorced her, and then became a single person again. At that time I thought the two of us were destined to be together, but who would have thought...

"Although I feel really sorry for it, I still respect your own choice! I wish you and Miss Lee all the happiness and good luck!"

In fact, there was a hidden purpose in Amelie's words.

Last time, when the two of them were in the greenhouse in the backyard, Adam refused Amelie straightforwardly and showed no pity on her. For this reason, now, retreating was perhaps the best way to advance for Amelie.

If Amelie continued to disguise herself as a secret admirer of Adam, it would not do her any good. Quite the contrary, it would only make Adam feel disturbed and disgusted, which would greatly harm the relationship between them.

Now, Amelie intended to properly balance the display of love, and her open-mindedness as a loser in this triangle love affair. She thought if she

behaved smartly, Adam's impression of her would become better.

Adam replied nonchalantly, "Amelie, it's good if you can understand it."

Amelie smiled and asked briskly, "Adam, are we still good friends in the future?"

"Amelia, I'm sorry." Adam shook his head.

"Adam, what do you mean by that?" Amelie widened her eyes and looked at him incredulously. "Can't we even be friends? I have just said that I will respect your own choice, and wish the two of you well!" Adam said slowly in a low voice, "I don't want Anthea to be unhappy over an outsider."

"But I'm your good friend!" Amelie emphasized.

"And an outsider..." Adam said indifferently.

With his hands inside the pockets, Adam did not change his facial expressions at all from beginning to end, but moved only his thin lips up and down. "In order to avoid any misunderstandings, we'd better not have any more contacts in private, except for the work affairs in the army."

Amelie felt heartbroken at his words.

She hadn't expected that he could be so merciless as to reject her when she had already adopted a very submissive and obedient gesture!

Amelie looked at the man in front of her in shock and bewilderment.

She had never expected to hear the word "outsider" from his mouth. This was such a humiliating and disdainful expression.

Amelie's lips twitched stiffly as she sobbed. "Adam, we've known each other since childhood. We grew up together. We're friends, comrades-in-arms, and even life-and-death partners. We have gone through countless dangerous missions together! Are you going to give up all the sentimental attachments between us for the sake of Anthea?"

Adam's voice was still cold, and he did not hesitate, "No one is more important than Anthea."

Amelie's figure swayed. She clenched her fists and looked at him with her face full of miseries.

Adam took out the key with his right hand and looked over at the jeep not far away as if he was worried that the girl inside the jeep would feel anxious waiting for him. He added, "It's getting late. Amelie, go home now. Drive carefully."

In fact, the darkness had just begun to fall, and only a few stars had climbed up the sky.

After Adam finished his words, he strode away, and Amelie could only look at his tall and strong figure helplessly.

Upon hearing the footsteps, Anthea immediately withdrew her ears from the car window. Then, she straightened her back and pretended to be calm as if nothing had happened to her. To strengthen the effects, she began to fiddle with her mobile phone.

The car door was opened and Adam got on the car.

After he had fastened his seatbelt, Anthea slowly looked up and asked, "Have you finished talking?"

"Of course," Adam replied.

He squinted at his lovely girlfriend with a smile. He knew she had tried to eavesdrop, but he pretended ignorance of it.

The army-green jeep drove out of the Chin Family's yard. Anthea pursed her lips slightly. When she turned her head, she had a glimpse of Amelie, who was still standing still, in the rearview mirror. Anthea could only see Amelie's back all the time, and she did not know what Amelie's facial expressions would be.

The car drove on the street at a constant speed. At this time, the neon lights had gradually litten up, and they beautifully dotted every part of the city.

Anthea continued to pretend to be innocent all the way, but she occasionally felt uneasy when she noticed that Adam would glance at her from time to time. "Why are you always looking at me?"

Adam raised his eyebrows and said in a frivolous tone, "Don't you want to know what I talked about with Amelie?"

"I don't want to know, indeed!" Anthea raised her chin arrogantly.

Adam nodded and said, "Well... Forget about it."

"..." Anthea gritted her teeth.

When she saw that Adam just looked away and focused on driving, she realized that he truly wanted to "forget about it". After holding her breath for two seconds, Anthea could not retain her composure anymore. She threw herself at him and yelled out, "Hey...Adam Chin!"
