Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 1303
Adam leaned against the vehicle with a cigarette in his hand.
Next to the jeep was a large, leafy tree. The setting sun and the sunset glow shone down through the cracks of the tree, tinting him rosy red and making him even more gorgeous.
Anthea suddenly thought of the tree in the disaster area, under which they formalized their relationship.
In the disaster area, they were busy most time of the day. Whenever they were free, they would often go dating there. Under the tree, he held her hand, kissed her, and talked sweetly to her. These scenes of their past were still preserved in her memory.
All of this just happened a few years ago, but she felt it was ages ago.
Adam came here to see her. As soon as he spotted her, he put out the cigarette in his hand and stood up straight.
Anthea walked over and asked, "Are you looking for me here?"
"Yes." Adam nodded and opened the car door behind her. "I'm running errands for the chief and his wife. To thank you for your treatment, they especially
asked me to send you something."
There were many boxes on the back seats.
Anthea glanced at them and found that they were all tonics, including bird's nest and donkey-hide glue, which are good for girls.
She said, "They are too courteous. I just did what a doctor should do!"
Adam said, "It's just a token of their appreciation."
Since he had delivered these things here, it was not appropriate for her to ask him to take them back. She withdrew her eyes from the box and felt a little embarrassed. "But they give me too many things..." She guessed that there were at least a dozen boxes, and some of them were pretty large.
Anthea alone certainly could not take them home.
Adam, seeing the opportunity, said, "I'll send you and these gifts to your home."
Anthea looked to the roadside. It was hard to get a taxi during rush hours when many people around just got off work.
She hesitated and nodded. "Okay."
Then, with her, Adam drove the military green jeep away from the private hospital.
It was a little congested on the road. About forty minutes later, they finally arrived at the apartment
building.
Adam parked the car. He was worried that she could not get so many things by herself, so he helped her carry the gift boxes to her apartment upstairs. Then, he placed them on the tea table in the living room. Anthea poured him a glass of warm water.
When she took it out, she saw Adam pick up the cigarette box from the corner of the sofa.
He looked up at her and said, "Don't smoke anymore."
Anthea looked down and said, "Hmm..."
Adam took the cup of water from her hand and looked around the room, unwilling to miss every corner.
After finishing drinking the glass of water, he said, "Then I'll go."
Anthea nodded. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but she did not know what to say. In the end, she just watched after his receding figure.
Three days later, after Anthea got off work in the evening, she did not immediately return to her apartment but took a bus to the military hospital.
She came to visit the old chief to see his condition after the surgery.
A guarding soldier stood at the door of the ward. When she pushed the door open and walked in, she saw the old chief in a hospital gown on the bed.
His face was no longer as pale as it was before the operation, and he could sit up. His wife was sitting next to the bed, massaging his legs. They had a good relationship.
Anthea saw a tall and strong figure on the other side of the bed.
She was not that surprised. Her eyes swept past him calmly, and she greeted the couple with a smile, "Hi, Chief, Madam!"
The couple was delighted when they saw her.
Anthea did not forget the purpose of her visit. After greeting them, she checked on the old chief.
When the checkup was over, she said with a relieved smile, "I know that you don't drink wine, but you like smoking. After you leave the hospital this time, you must quit smoking! As for your meals, please eat the food as I've suggested before. Plus, don't eat too high-protein and high-fat food; otherwise, it will aggravate the burden on your liver!"
"You should rest well and do some exercise, according to your capability, of course. Step by step, you can become stronger. Remember not to make
yourself feel flustered and short of breath!"
After saying all this, she grinned and said, "But I believe that the military doctors have already told you all of this!"
"You are trying your best to take care of him!" The madam said with a smile, and then she asked her, "By the way, Dr. Lee, shall we leave the hospital two days later?"
Her question showed that she regarded Anthea as the doctor in charge of her husband. She was willing to follow her advice in everything about her husband.
Anthea, fully aware of her respect, felt warm in her heart. After a brief pause, she said with a smile, "He has recovered well. He will be in a better mood when he gets home, which will do good to his recovery!" The madam was very happy and looked at her with a bright smile. "Doctor Lee, can I call you Anthea?"
"Of course!" Anthea nodded with pleasure.
Seeing this, the madam held her hands affectionately - she liked her. "Anthea, you saved my husband's life. I just cannot thank you enough! When Brock recovers, please come to our home. We'd like to treat you to a good meal to express our gratitude!"
Anthea said, "Madam, don't be so courteous. It's my honor to perform the operation for the old chief! Moreover, you sent a lot of things to me two days ago. I have received your kindness, so there is no need to bother!"
Hearing this, the madam turned to look at her husband on the bed.
The couple looked at each other. The old madame asked in surprise and confusion, "A lot of things? Why don't I know anything about it?"
Anthea was also stunned. "So, you didn't ask Adam..."
She subconsciously looked away, swallowing her words.
Anthea remembered Adam's deep and tranquil eyes.
She pursed her lips.
The madam was still confused, but the old chief in the bed had already guessed what had happened.
So, when Anthea was about to leave, he intended to help Adam and asked, "Adam, you're free tonight. Please drive Anthea home safely!"
Then Adam and Anthea walked out of the hospital building.
The sun had set entirely, and the sky went dark.
When they walked down the steps, Anthea deliberately walked slowly and kept two steps away from him.
Looking at his broad shoulders, she said while slowly wringing her hands, "Adam, why did you..."
When she mentioned the matter in the ward, the couple seemed confused. Anthea knew that they did not send her any gifts to express their gratitude.
Adam turned around.
He just spat out a mouthful of smoke. The rising white smoke blurred his well-defined facial features, but his deep-set eyes gazing at her were as dark as the moonless night sky in winter. "I just want to see you," Adam said in a husky voice.
Anthea was stunned.
