Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 784
Why?
Because she had said it herself. Now that he thought about that day, he still felt extremely depressed.
Simon's Adam's apple moved slightly. What he had always believed in his heart was torn apart, or more precisely, what she made him believed. "I thought she was going to replace Boyd.1
"Boyd?" Tina was surprised to hear that and immediately replied, "How can she look for him? They broke up four years ago. They recontacted each other because of work! At that time, we were invited by the municipal government to track cover a proposed new structure in our city, and Boyd happened to be the director..."
After coming back, Emily felt that atmosphere at the room changed.
Looking around, Wilson still looked gentle, elegant, and unemotional. Tina was helping her daughter Isla to drink the soup. The little girl buried her face in the bowl and guzzled. As for Simon, his eyes dropped. The lamplight shining above, she could not tell the true emotion on his face.
Everything was normal...
Emily sat down and asked Simon with hesitation, "What's wrong?"
"No matter!" Simon gave her a glance.
She scratched her neck and thought that she might be too sensitive.
After about ten minutes or so, almost everyone was satiated, especially Isla, who had not stopped eating for a long time, was fit to burst.
Wilson promptly looked at his cell phone, pushed his glasses up, and said, "It's getting late. I think Isla is sleepy. Simon, Emily, let's go home!"
Isla, who had been called out, sat up and yawned knowingly.
Emily nodded and replied, "Okay!"
Simon stood up at this time. "Wilson, I'll get the bill!"
After that, he strode out of the room with her handbag.
Emily didn't notice him for she and Tina were dressing Isla. Then they took their coats and walked out of the room one after another.
When they went downstairs, Isla suddenly said that she wanted to go to the bathroom, so they went together. When she came out, Simon, who paid the bill in front of the reception, was no longer there. After coming out of the restaurant, Tina took her daughter to get on Wilson's car, and quickly drove away.
After the silver Land Rover fell away, Emily looked around and saw a tall and straight figure standing beside the black Cayenne with her handbag. In the soft moonlight, he stood there with his back to her. She pulled up her collar and walked over. When she approached him, she found that he was on the phone.
Only when she stood behind her that did she realize that he was holding her phone with his slender fingers!
Just as she was about to question him, Simon suddenly turned around.
He still kept the mobile phone over his ear and looked at her. At the same time, he said to the phone in a low voice, "Okay, thank you, goodbye!"
At night, he gazed at her's face, but an obscure light came into his eyes.
Her skin prickled with apprehension.
She even forgot to get mad at him.
Swallowing hard, she asked, "Who are you talking to?"
Simon snapped, "Boyd."
"..." Emily trembled.
She licked her lips and asked in a fluster, "What... what did you say to him?"
Simon put the phone back in the handbag, zipped it, and then handed it to her. "It doesn't matter anymore!"
"What do you mean?" Emily frowned.
Simon didn't answer her question, with a vague smile on his face.
She didn't know if it was her illusion for she felt that his eyes gleamed almost wickedly, like a fox in the forest looking at his prey.
For some reason, she felt her hairs stand on end.
Emily swallowed hard again, trying to allay her fear. He pulled open the passenger's door and pushed her inside. "Get in the car. The pregnant woman can't sleep too late!"
"..." She had to sit down.
Two minutes later, the black Cayenne also drove away from the entrance of the restaurant.
"Ding!" When the elevator door reached the designated floor, it opened.
Emily followed him silently, watching him take out the key and open the door. Then he changed into slippers and went in. He turned on the television in the living room and then walked straight to the dining room. She could tell that he was going to fill a glass at the sound of the water-cooler.
She took off her coat and sat down on the sofa.
Along the way, Emily felt uneasy because of the phone call.
The TV series just started. The hero was discussing with his wife how to be a good father. Every time they exchanged glances, she could sense the romance in the air. Emily's eyes drifted away, unable to concentrate on the plot.
She took out her mobile phone from her pocket. After thinking for a while, she couldn't help but decide to call Boyd in Australia. She wanted to know what they talked about!
Squinting in the dining room, Emily stood up and tiptoed to a floor-to-ceiling window, trying to make a phone call.
However, after she opened the address book and searched it up and down several times, she still could not replace Boyd's number.
Emily swallowed hard and felt it totally absurd!
She indeed saved his number, but she couldn't replace it now. How could she remember his number clearly? Now unless Boyd could call her or text her, otherwise, she had no way to contact him... All of a sudden, her cell phone was taken away.
Emily was shocked. Simon, who was drinking in the kitchen, came up to her at some point and put a glass in her hand. As she gentle held it, she felt the water was warm.
"Drink some water!" Simon said slowly.
Emily did as he said subconsciously. She raised it and took a small sip. The water spread from her throat to her stomach as a warmth was stealing over her. Then she remembered to ask, "Simon, did you touch my phone?"
"No, I didn't." Simon replied without any change in expression.
"How is it possible?" Emily didn't believe him at all. She stared at him with doubts and asked with evidence, "When you left the restaurant in the evening, you took my handbag and used my mobile phone. Why can't I replace Boyd's number when you returned it to me?"
"Is that so?" There was a troubled expression on his face. After thinking for two seconds, he said, "Maybe I accidentally deleted it!"
