Purchased A Mr. Right
Chapter 857

She reclined on the bed, staring at the floating clouds outside the window in a daze until the rosy light gradually appeared on the horizon.

There were low voice rising from the hallway. The door was opened and then closed.

Simon put the car key on the shoe cabinet, put on his slippers, passed through the living room, and found her lying on the big bed. He knew that her colleagues would drive her back after work. Seeing her lying motionless on the bed, he thought she was asleep. When he got closer, he saw her staring at nothingness.

Simon leaned over and sat on the bed, asking with a smile, "Mrs. Chin, you're home early."

"..." Emily didn't reply.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling all right?" Simon asked and wrinkled his brows.

Emily pursed her lips.

When she heard him mention this, she felt even more depressed. She didn't even want to look at him, so she turned her face to the other side with the back side of her head to him. She closed her eyes-out of sight, out of mind.

Simon slightly bent over. "Emily?"

Emily's lips twitched, but she remained silent with a poker face.

Simon frowned again and thought that her pregnancy cast a gloom over her. Seeing that she ignored him, Simon continued to ask in a low voice for fear that she might be uncomfortable with the hollow, empty feeling in her stomach, "Are you hungry? What do you like to eat?"

Receiving no answer, he could only mutter to himself. "There are pumpkin, shrimps, and chicken in the refrigerator. Would you like to have a chicken parmigiana and shrimp scampi? What do you want to drink? Pumpkin cream soup?"

Far off to the west the sun was sinking, Simon stood in the kitchen.

He was rolling the chicken breasts in the breadcrumbs. Then, he browned them in a frying pan, dropped the sauce onto a baking sheet with a teaspoon, and then put them in the oven.

While waiting, he remembered that he had forgotten to tell the nurse an urgent matter. He took out his phone from his trouser pocket.

Only then did he realize that his phone was switched off.

To maintain the order of the court, everyone present, from litigants and observers from the public gallery were asked to turn off their cell phones.

This afternoon, Addy's case came up, so he went with her. It was a key for whether she could get rid of Sean, so he must attend it for his testimony was an important element of the case. Thinking of this, his eyes turned cold and grey.

After he turned on the phone screen, a text message popped in before he dialed the surgical department.

From Tina.

Yes, his future sister-in-law.

However, he paled visibly at the sight of it and immediately ran to the bedroom with a gesture of frustration.

"What the hell is he thinking!"

Emily was in a really black mood.

At the thought of how she panicked in the afternoon, he didn't appear, not to mention that she couldn't even get through to him. How could he sweet-talk to her as if nothing had happened... The more she thought about it, the more depressed she became.

Hearing the footsteps again, Emily sat up, grabbed the pillow in the bed and threw it out fiercely.

After seeing the message, Simon rushed over and was hit in the face by the pillow with a sickening thud. He was too worried about her to avoid it.

Typically, he would take the pillow off from his face, raised his eyebrows, and teased her. But at this moment, he was full of remorse and guilt.

Simon quickly came to the bed and put the pillow that she had just thrown over on it with his knee against the edge of the bed. He gazed at her and asked nervously, "Emily, how's your examination? Are you sure it's all right? Did you see Director Ye?"

"Thanks for your concern."

Choking back tears, Emily snarled through clenched

teeth.

In her fury, she still had a lot of pent-up anger to release. She threw the pillow that he had just put down out again, but it was not enough. So she threw the other pillow to him, rolled the quilt into a ball, and ther threw it over.

Emily glared at his handsome face and scolded him angrily, "You are a b*stard!"

"Yes, yes, I'm a b*stard. How can I turn off my phone and miss your call! I was asked to switch it off in the court! I have to obey." Simon didn't offer a grab bag of reasons for his action, nor did he look lazy as usual. Instead, he said in a conciliating voice as he scanned her face anxiously. "Emily, my girl, tell me, are you all right? What did Director Ye say? Do we need to go to the hospital again?" Emily looked at Simon who was almost kneeling in front of her.

He was seized with remorse. As he gazed at her, she could tell a look of deep concern and anxiety, which was exactly the same as the last time when he came back by plane for her. Emily's heart gradually melted.

But the furious feeling did not disappear so quickly. She was still mad at him at the thought that when she desperately needed him, he was nowhere to be found. She turned her face and lay back on the bed. She grabbed something and threw it over again.

There was another dull thud, followed by a sharp intake of breath.

This time, she didn't aim at him. She just threw it away casually...

She seemed to have hit him.

Since she had turned her back to him, she couldn't see him. She could only see a vague figure out of the corner of her eye. Simon, who got down on one knee, was raising his hand to cover his eye. "Hmm." Hearing that he let out this ululating moan, Emily was somewhat agitated.

What she threw out was the alarm clock on the bedside table, wooden and heavy. She could imagine how painful one would be getting hit by it. She didn't know if it would blind him.

Simon had strongly defined features, but the most beautiful part was his eyes, gleaming like stars in the sky, which exuded sex appeal. If he was blind...

Emily gritted her teeth and asked, "Hey! Are you all right?"

After a few seconds, Simon said slowly, "It hurts. I think I'm bleeding!"

There was an indiscernible intake of breath in the voice.

"Seriously?" Emily sat up upon hearing this.

"It's true!" Simon answered flatly.

Because he was covering his right eye all the time, Emily couldn't tell if he was lying. She was a little panicked for accidentally hurt her lover. She moved to him, while her expression and voice showed worry. "Hands off! Let me have a look!"

"It's fine." Simon shook his head.

Seeing this, Emily became even more anxious. This time her concern for him was written all over her

face. She anxiously pulled his hand as unblinkingly gazed at him. "Simon, take your hand away. I want to see your eye! Did I really hit you blind?"

Simon obediently moved his big hand away little by little.
