Purchased A Mr. Right
Chapter 868

Sean staggered being dragged by the two policemen, but he still stared at Addy. "You've never loved me. You accepted me only because you wanted to shake the unhappy memory of your last relationship. He's the only man you love. You gave up so much for him that year..."

His shouts re-echoed through the corridor.

Addy hugged herself more tightly for Sean exposed her, lay her deepest thoughts bare.

What he said was unpalatably correct. She had never really stopped loving Simon or let go of their past happy memory. Just as she once said, she had long recognized that they were not fated to be together. Even if she still loved him, she would never express her innermost feelings to anyone nor expect to get back together...

Simon, who was standing next to her, frowned as if he had sensed something. When he caught sight of Emily, a chill shiver rippled over his skin.

As he turned around in shock, his pupils dilated in an instant. His face had suddenly tightened as though he was being frozen by the cold air in the winter morning. He cried out, "Emily!" Hearing this, Addy also turned around in astonishment.

Then they saw Emily was walking towards them on the brown plush carpet-they could not hear her footsteps - and brushed past Sean, who was led away in handcuffs by the two policemen.

Thinking of the last sentence that Sean said just now, Addy was a little awkward. After a short moment of hesitation, she said,"... Mrs. Chin!"

Simon walked forward. He explained, blinking his eyes rapidly, "Emily, I'm just..."

Emily looked at him. He could not look her in the eye, totally bewildered. But in her eyes, it was because he had a guilty conscience.

She did not intend to talk to him, nor did she listen. She just turned to look at Addy, who was standing there.

Suddenly, Emily asked, "Miss Swan, do you still love him?"

Addy did not expect her to ask it in such a abrupt and unexpected way. She seemed to be so aggressive.

Ever since Addy returned home and got to know her, she always acted vivacious and kind. Addy did not expect her to have such a fierce side. She was like a hedgehog that had erected all the spines on her body.

Addy was unnerved as her mouth quivered, "I..."

Seeing that she opened and shut her mouth, Emily understood.

She couldn't breathe as if her chest had been pierced by an iron cone. All she could feel was a constant dull pain in her heart.

She forced a wry smile and didn't say anything, or maybe she didn't want to say anything. She stepped back two steps, turned around, and ran away quickly in silence.

Simon who stood rigidly on the spot, quickly ran after her. Different from the last time when she witnessed Venice naked in his room in Bayworth City, he was much more panicky. Emily left rapidly. When he ran to the elevator, the door had just closed.

He was too anxious to wait for the elevator. He directly opened the door of the stairwell and ran downstairs on churning legs.

Just a few seconds later, when he ran out of it, he saw that Emily had just passed through the hotel lobby and was running toward the entrance door.

Simon ran to her. When he was about to catch up with her, someone suddenly blocked his way.

The man was one of the policemen who held down Sean. He said politely, "Young Master Chin, you called the police. So you have to go to the police station with us to make a statement!" Simon was detained for a while. When he wanted to chase after her, Emily had already hailed a taxi at the roadside and got in.

He suddenly braked the black Cayenne.

The taxi, which reached its destination in advance, had already left when he drove back to the apartment.

Before Simon fully opened the door, he had jumped down and hurried to the building. The elevator ascended so slowly that he became more anxious. Finally, the elevator came to a halt with a loud "ding". He took out the key, opened the security door, and rushed inside without putting on his slippers.

When Simon went in, Emily stood in the bedroom with her back towards the door. A suitcase lay beside her, and she was throwing the clothes from her wardrobe into it one by one.

She didn't even fold them. Instead, she just casually threw them in and then took her toiletries from the bathroom. With a bang, she closed it.

After she fastened the lock catch, she lifted it up and strode out of the bedroom.

But how could she leave? Simon's tall and straight figure almost blocked the whole door, leaving her no chance to go out. He fixed her with a piercing stare. "Mrs. Chin, what are you going to do?" She didn't say a word, while he became more agitated. "Emily?"

Emily gritted her teeth. "I want to go back to the town!"

Simon stretched out his two big hands, held her shoulder and tried to explain, "Emily, listen to me!"

"What? Are you trying to explain why you lied to me that the phone call was from the hospital?" Emily looked at him sarcastically.

"I'm sorry!" Simon knew that he was wrong. He felt ashamed and lowered his head, and his Adam's apple was rolling slowly. "It's my fault. I can explain. The divorce went smoothly, but the court made a final mediation, so it would take another month for the verdict to be announced! We applied for a restraining order, but I didn't expect that Sean would violate the law and threatened Addy. I had no other choice but went there..."

Emily's eyelashes trembled and she said bitterly, "I heard what Sean said. Simon, Miss Swan... she still loves you!"

When she said the last few words, her fists were shaking.

When she walked over and heard what Sean said, she stumbled and almost lost her balance.

Simon frowned and said seriously, "I love you only!"

Mmmm...

But he couldn't get Addy off his mind...

As Emily tilted her head slightly, she saw his right hand on her shoulder, with which he hit Sean more than once for Addy. She smiled sadly and said, "I want to ask you one question. Can you stop caring about her? Answer me. Yes or no!"

He expressed mixed emotions at the question as if he was faced with an insoluble dilemma.

Through clenched teeth he replied bleakly. "I can't leave her alone for the time being."

Just now, he got caught lying about the phone call. He couldn't lie to her again...

He must repay her.

Whether he felt sympathy or guilty for Addy, it was all because he owed her so much. He was responsible for everything that happened to her. What's more, he couldn't absolve himself from all the tragedies in her life which weighed upon his conscience. For now, he couldn't stand idly by and let Addy face all the things alone...
