Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 911
"Hah!" Emily laughed so happily that she almost fell over.
After they chatted for a while, Emily went to the office of the editor-in-chief. After that, they had lunch together.
Originally, Tina had a lot more to say to her and wanted to continue to stay with her. However, she had no choice but to be taken away by Wilson, who drove here, because she had a delivery check-up. They agreed to meet again in these two days.
After leaving the TV station in the afternoon, Emily went to the place where air tickets were sold nearby.
She wanted to check if there were any flights flying to Country S in the next few days. Unexpectedly, she did not book the tickets successfully. There were two flights that were temporarily canceled. If she took the connecting plane in another city, it would be too troublesome. The staff from Ticketing Counter suggested that she could come here in a few days.
There was no way to go back immediately. It was easy to ask for a few more days off from work, but she thought that she should at least call Calvin and tell him about the situation here.
Emily came out of the airport and called Calvin.
However, it was strange that his phone was switched off.
Emily felt a little puzzled. It was rare for Calvin to turn off his phone. Usually, his cell phone was on all day. Even if he couldn't have his phone on him because of meetings or trainings, he would put his mobile phone in the dormitory and mute it. In this way, he could call back the caller later.
She called again, and it still reminded her that his phone was switched off.
Emily shrugged her shoulders. She could only tell him after he turned on the phone.
When she was ready to walk to the roadside to stop the taxi, a tall figure came out of the office building. The military boots made a steady and powerful sound.
Emily was surprised. "Adam?"
In fact, Adam was wearing casual clothes, but he was still wearing his military boots. It seemed that this habit had never changed. Because of that praise, he always wore them.
It seemed that he was here to handle something, because he still had a file bag under his armpit.
"Sis?" Adam was surprised to see her.
Hearing the way he addressed her, Emily felt a little uncomfortable. "I can't be considered your sister-in-law now..."
Adam said in a low voice, "It doesn't matter!"
After glancing the direction behind her, he asked, "You're alone?"
"Yes!" Emily nodded.
Hearing this, Adam said directly, "Where will you go?
I can drive you there."
Emily nodded. She didn't know if it was because of his powerful momentum as a soldier or not, but when he gave the order, she followed him almost subconsciously and got into the jeep.
After a second thought, she changed her mind. Her fiance, Calvin, was also a soldier, but he was very gentle, totally different from Adam. She was involuntarily nervous in front of Adam, and his naturally imposing manner should cause it.
However, besides this, Emily got into the jeep for another reason. The main reason was that the scene she saw in front of the building last night had left a deep impression on her.
She opened her mouth thoughtfully. "Adam, you and Anthea..."
When Anthea's name was mentioned, Adam, who always showed a serious face, had an another expression as expected.
Emily cleared her throat and continued to say in embarrassment, "Ahem, I was there when you two were arguing last night. I accidentally witnessed the whole process!"
Emily emphasized that she did it accidentally. She didn't mean to stand there eavesdropping!
Hearing this, Adam looked a little embarrassed. It seemed that being drunk was a rare thing for a strictly self-disciplined person like him. "I'm sorry. I drank too much last night. I'm sorry to show you my embarrassed side!"
"It's okay. I just feel that it's quite a pity!" Emily shook her head and said carefully, "Anthea now has a boyfriend. Brother... you won't hate her because of her new boyfriend, will you?"
The corner of Adam's mouth twitched. Then he shook his head and said, "No."
"That's good!" Emily breathed a sigh of relief.
It was just that Adam's angry look last night made her a little scared now. Not to mention hitting the concrete column with his fist, even the pinch of the chin must be painful! Adam was silent for a while and asked hesitantly, "Did Anthea cry secretly last night?"
"I don't know. I slept very early, but... when I woke up this morning, I saw her applying a towel to her eyes in the bathroom!" Pouting her lips, Emily replied thoughtfully. After that, she saw a trace of sadness in Adam's eyes.
Emily pursed her lips and said in a low voice, "Adam, although I know there are a lot of obstacles between you and Anthea, I still hope Anthea can be happy. Don't make thing hard for her!" "I know." Adam's Adam's apple bobbed slightly.
After he drove down the bridge, Emily pointed to the road ahead and said, "Adam, you can stop by the roadside of the shopping mall in front of us after the red light!"
Adam nodded and temporarily stopped in front of the red signal light.
Adam, who had always been taciturn, seemed to have suddenly thought of something and rarely took the initiative to say, "Did Simon go there when the earthquake occurred in Country S?" "Mm..." Emily nodded, but she felt that there was nothing wrong with his words.
"It's rare for my youngest brother to beg me." Adam smiled in a low voice.
After hearing it, Emily still felt a little confused. She didn't quite understand what he meant.
Adam took out a cigarette from the box. Then he lit it up in his mouth and continued to say, "At that time, he was still in Tbridge city. When he learned about the earthquake in Country S, he immediately called me! He took a helicopter to rush over as fast as he could! It was the first time he had asked for my help since he was a child!"
Emily was stunned.
Her previous cognition was subverted. She thought that he went to Country S because of a seminar!
She didn't expect him to do this, especially for her...
All the thoughts in Emily's mind were in a mess. She thought of the anxiety and worry in Simon's eyes the moment he appeared in Country S. She swallowed hard, feeling a twinge in her heart. When she was immersed in her thoughts, she heard Adam's sound. "Emily, we're here!"
Then Emily unbuckled her seatbelt. As she closed the door of the car, she said slowly, "Thank you..."
After entering the shopping mall, she wandered back and forth between the counters aimlessly, but she didn't buy anything. When it was crowded in the evening, she remembered her purpose in a trance. She had planned to buy a gift for Tina at the maternal store to congratulate her for having a second baby.
After buying things, she came out of the shopping mall and stopped a taxi to go back.
