Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 913
Hearing this, Calvin's face suddenly lit up. "Emily, do you really think so?" "Yes!" Emily nodded slowly.
When she promised to be his fiancee for the reason of helping him, she had been mentally prepared. She knew that they would get married one day. Since it would happen sooner or later, there was no difference between earlier and later.
Calvin heaved a sigh of relief and held her hands even tighter. "I was a little nervous just now. I'm afraid that you won't agree! Even if my family doesn't urge me, I'm already 35 years old. Time waits for no one! Ha-ha. It's time to accomplish that important thing in my life. If I don't get married now, I'll be panic-stricken!"
"As for the wedding, I'll listen to you!" Emily amused by him.
"Okay!" Calvin nodded eagerly, with his eyebrows raised. "Don't worry, leave it to me. Don't worry about anything. I'll make the preparation! I'll go to the town with you in the next few days to invite your aunt and uncle to come to Ice city. The two families can discuss our marriage together. After all, it's a big event in our lives!"
Emily's eyelashes trembled. "Hmm..."
In her mind, however, she remembered the happy scene that Simon sat around her aunt and uncle two days ago.
When she was absent-minded, Calvin let go of her hands, looked at his watch, and then looked into the bedroom. "It's late. You're living in your friend's house. It's not appropriate for me to disturb you for a long time. As soon as I got off the plane, I went here to replace you, so my parents and grandma are waiting for me at home!"
Emily nodded.
Emily knew that he was a gentleman. As a soldier, he stayed in the army most time of the year, so he rarely returned home. What's more, he was sent to Country S, so his family naturally missed him very much.
Calvin looked at her and took the initiative to invite her. "Emily, do you want to go back with me? They miss you very much!"
"It's inappropriate today..." Emily shook her head subconsciously. She bit her lip and said, "It's too late, and I didn't prepare anything. It's impolite to visit them like this today! I think I'd better visit them another day!"
From Calvin's gentle personality and good upbringing, it could be seen what kind of person his parents were. When she promised to be his fiancee, his parents went to Country S to meet her. They were easy to get along with and weren't domineering. Calvin's grandmother had a good character and always showed a smile on her face. She was somewhat like... Simon's grandma.
At the thought of Simon's grandmother, a sad feeling welled up in Emily's heart.
Of course, the child's affairs could not be hidden from his grandma and Simon would tell her. Later, they broke up and she went to Country S. after that, she never went to see his grandmother and did not say goodbye. She just did not know how to face her...
"Okay, then let's do it another day!" Calvin never forced her. He nodded with a smile. Then he drank up the tea in the cup, stood up, and said, "Emily, I'll go first. After I go back, I'll discuss the wedding with my family! Grandma will be very happy when she knows that!"
Emily saw him off at the elevator and watched him leave with his suitcase.
As soon as she came back, the bedroom door was immediately pushed open. Anthea ran to her in a hurry and her eyes widened. "Emily, will you really get married?"
Emily was not surprised at all. She could guess that even if Anthea had just returned to her bedroom, she must have eavesdropped on the door.
Emily went back to the sofa and sat down. Then she raised her eyebrows and said with a smile, "Well, do you want me to be lonely in my remaining years?"
"No!" Anthea scratched her neck, pondered for a moment, and said, "I just feel that I don't dare believe it. But I didn't expect you to marry another man except for Dr. Chin..."
Emily turned her head and looked out of the window. The evening lights were already on, and the tall buildings in the distance were like crystal boxes. Being decorated by the starlight in the sky, the night was very beautiful.
She said in a low voice, "I have to start a new life."
Seeing Anthea looking at her with a frown, Emily smiled and she said with emotion, "Anthea, that's good. I just want to live a normal life, without strong love. It's okay as long as I live a simple life! Although I'm not very happy to stay with Calvin, I have no time to be very unhappy. We are always courteous to each other like 'guests'. It's really good!"
When she mentioned the word "unhappy", Anthea knew that Emily was referring to the moment when she was entangled with Simon.
Emily shrugged her shoulders and said jokingly, "But if I get married again... it's a second marriage!"
"It doesn't matter!" Anthea immediately retorted upon hearing that. She said disapprovingly, "It doesn't matter that you're divorced. We're in modern society now. It's still normal for you to have three or four marriages! If Calvin is unreliable, I'll replace another man for you!"
After hearing this, Emily didn't know whether to laugh or cry, and the sense of disappointment that arose in her chest also dissipated.
She crossed her arms around her shoulders and suddenly changed the subject. "What about you? Are you really going to date your new boyfriend who suddenly appeared?"
Anthea quickly explained it. "He didn't appear suddenly. Didn't I tell you that he's my college classmate? He used to be a school hunk. He looked handsome and had a rich family. If I marry him in the future, I'll probably live a wealthy life!"
"I don't know if he's handsome or not. I'm only concerned about whether he can withstand Adam's punch!" Emily blinked her eyes and clicked her tongue.
Presumably, no one could withstand it, unless Anthea also found a soldier as her boyfriend. But when Emily thought of Adam's tall and strong figure, especially his bulging muscles under the military uniform, she thought that even a soldier would be difficult to withstand his punch!
When it came to Adam, Anthea instantly became upset.
After a moment of silence, she chuckled and said lightly, "It's destined that there's no future between him and me..."
"Emily, in fact, I am also very tired. He is my uncle. This unspeakable relationship is an obstacle for us. Not to mention my grandfather, even the Chin Family will not agree. I really don't have confidence in our future..." In the end, Anthea's tears fell down one by one.
Emily sighed softly. She understood her feelings very well.
Emily didn't say anything more and she just stretched out her hands to comfort her.
The living room was quiet. Just like what they did when they encountered troubles in childhood, they hugged each other and comforted each other.
