Purchased A Mr. Right -
Chapter 976
The black Cayenne stopped steadily after slowing down.
There was a coffee shop nearby. Through the glass, it could be seen that its decoration was characterized by animal elements. Seeing that he had parked the car, Emily unfastened the seat belt on her body and looked at him puzzledly. "Uh?"
Because Simon didn't move. It seemed that he didn't want to get off the car and he was still holding the steering wheel with one hand.
Simon cast a sidelong glance at her. "You go in by yourself. I'll wait for you outside. Don't worry, I'll give you this little bit of freedom!"
It made Emily confused and surprised.
Emily looked at him with amazement. "Simon, are you sure?"
"Mn." Simon pulled his lips.
Emily blinked her eyes, and still unable to believe what he just said. She tilted her head to observe his expression.
Being stared at by her, Simon gradually became uneasy. He gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "Get off the car quickly. I will go back on my word if
you don't go now!"
Emily quickly opened the car door.
She looked back at the person on the driver's seat, who had already lit a cigarette. The white smoke sprang up. She withdrew her sight and pushed open the door of the coffee shop. Calvin had arrived early and was sitting there waiting for her.
After all, they almost got married. Although there might not be any real love between them, they still felt a little embarrassed when they saw each other again after the cancellation of the wedding. Emily walked over with a smile and said, "Calvin!"
Calvin lowered his head and stirred the coffee in his hand, lost in thought. When he heard the voice, he looked up with a gentle smile as usual. "Emily, here you are!"
Emily sat opposite him and said, "I thought you've already returned to Country S!"
In fact, she was a little surprised that Calvin was still in Ice city. She thought when she suddenly canceled the wedding with him and went to Tbridge City, he should have returned to Country S. When she called him, he invited her out and she agreed with pleasure.
"No, I haven't left." Calvin shook his head, and there was a flash of gloom in his eyes. Then he asked in a warm voice, "Emily, what do you want to drink? How about asking the waiter to come over and introduce you something good to drink?"
Emily said, "No, thanks. A latte like yours!"
The latte was served quickly, and the strong aroma of coffee lingered in her nose.
Emily picked it up and took a sip. Then she took the bag beside her and opened it. The phone in it was on a short vibration. She took it out and checked it. It was a message from Simon.
"It's been five minutes!"
At the sight of the words, the corner of Emily's mouth twitched.
She continued to reach into the bag and took out the small box she had prepared in advance. There was a diamond ring in the box.
Emily placed it on the table. Biting her lip, she pushed it to the other side.
Calvin frowned slightly when he saw it.
"Calvin, I'm sorry. I had to do it that day. It was really a sudden accident. I forgot to give this diamond ring back to you!" Speaking of this, Emily paused, and then said in a more sincere tone, "And, I'm really sorry. I failed to do what I promised. I didn't marry you in the end!"
Calvin held the square box and said with a bitter smile, "I have already given it to you. In fact, you don't have to give it back to me."
Emily shook her head and said very seriously, "I can't do that. Since I can't keep my promise, I should return the ring to its owner!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the phone vibrated shortly again.
She picked it up again, and just as she had just seen, the message appeared on the screen again. It was also from Simon, and the content was almost the same. He was reminding her. "Ten minutes!" Emily did not know whether to laugh or cry as she put down her phone.
As she raised her head, Calvin looked at her with hesitation and said, "Emily, actually..."
Emily asked in confusion, "Calvin, what's wrong?"
Calvin frowned and paused for a while before saying, "In fact, I didn't cancel the wedding."
"What... did you say?" Emily was shocked.
"I didn't cancel the wedding," Calvin explained in a slightly apologetic tone. "I used an excuse to say that you went to Tbridge City for urgent work, so my family thought that the wedding was just delayed. I was afraid that they would not be able to stand this blow, especially my grandmother. She had been hoping that I could get married, so I was afraid that she would be sad after knowing the truth." Emily was stunned.
She didn't expect it at all, but she couldn't blame him.
After all, at that time, she announced unilaterally the cancellation of the wedding, and then ran to Tbridge City to replace Simon. Actually, she felt more guilty about this matter. Biting her lip, Emily looked at Calvin blankly. "Now..."
Calvin heaved a sigh and asked cautiously, "Emily, can I ask you to do me a favor? I will continue to keep it from my family for the time being. If it's possible, I hope you can hide it for me! Don't worry. After I return to the army, I will replace a proper chance to confess to my family. It's me who don't want to get married, and it has nothing to do with you!"
Emily couldn't say anything to reject him, so she nodded.
After coming out of the cafe and saying goodbye to Calvin, she went to the car parked there.
As soon as Simon saw her get in the car, he pinched the cigarette in his hand. Then he pulled open the sleeve of his shirt with his index finger and showed his watch to her. Meanwhile, he said in a weird voice, "It's 35 minutes and 20 seconds in total!"
"I'm already in a hurry!" Emily was unhappy.
Simon snorted and started the engine. "Have you finished talking to him?"
"Yes." Emily nodded and fastened her seatbelt.
Simon lazily continued to ask, "Have you finished talking it clearly?"
"Hmm..." Emily nodded again, but she was obviously a little hesitant. She hesitated and said, "But there is one tricky thing!"
"What is it?" Simon glanced at her.
Emily felt that it was necessary to tell him in advance. She thought for a while and said, "It's about the cancellation of the wedding. Calvin is worried that his family can't bear it, so he keeps it a secret. He'll replace a chance to tell the truth, so he asked me to help him hide it for the time being."
"What did you say?" Simon's face immediately turned livid.
Emily gave a light cough. She had long expected that he would have this sort of reaction.
Simon stared at her. Then he gritted his teeth and asked, "Emily, did you agree?"
"Mm." Emily nodded. She had no choice but to agree.
On this matter, she felt guilty that she had not done what she had promised. She felt very sorry and Calvin's request was reasonable, so it was inappropriate for her to refuse...
Blue veins stood out on the back of Simon's hands and he couldn't breathe smoothly out of anger. He fiercely grabbed the steering wheel and said, "I won't cook tonight!"
