The world was a box of surprises, or so Hades thought, because even if his suspicions were only suspicions, he never thought he would be so right this time. And his own brother was the protagonist.

-So, which one of us begins,” Hades was deadly serious.

Rodrigo lowered his head and clenched his fists, tensing his body like any young wolf in the face of an alpha who seemed annoyed. A hand resting on his shoulder comforted him even though its owner wasn’t looking. Leoxi enveloped him with her scent not caring that he was in front of his alpha and the young wolf’s mother. If he had to defend him he would but he would not allow himself to be scolded or beaten.

Rodrigo was his.

Nebraska sighed at the dense scene and grabbed Hades by the wrist. They would get nowhere this way and the last thing she wanted was a family fight.

-Love, come with me for a moment,” and before Hades could protest the she-wolf was dragging him towards the door.

Nebraska opened the door but instead of getting out she pushed Hades with her small body and pulled him out.

-Let me deal with this and then I’ll leave it to you. You’re making them nervous and you’re stressing my son,” she blew him a k**s before closing the door on his nose and locking it on the other side.

Hades was stunned by this. She had thrown him out of his own study. Two passing wolves who had witnessed the scene only had their mouths hanging open. They all knew that their alpha was dominated by their queen and that she was the one in the trousers, but that she had even thrown him out of her own den was quite remarkable.

-Not a word,” he growled at the two wolves who, after nodding, ran off.

He wanted to retort and break down the door. They were talking about his brother and his eldest adopted son. They weren’t related by b***d and that wasn’t a problem between wolves either but still. It wasn’t that he was against their relationship it was just that the age difference was so great for God’s sake, not even he and his wife, at least she was twice his son’s age.

But then he remembered a certain puppy behind a certain wolf who was even older than him and he put his hand to his face. It definitely ran in the family. At least the younger ones had come of age and were no longer puppies. With Priscilla it wasn’t so much the case, although physiognomically his daughter was already an adult, almost old enough to have her first heat.

Her first heat.

He growled through gritted teeth. If Layan got his hands on her without her consent she would kill him for sure. Priscilla was his princess and to her the best, though among all wolves Layan meant the best, first dead before this one called him father-in-law.

She closed her eyes, trying to calm herself. This day was giving her a headache. He leaned his back against the door and only had to wait for his wife to deal with whatever was going on inside. It would be fun to show her again who was the alpha of the pack, at night and within the walls of her room.

Nebraska returned to the couch and sat across from the couple and focused on them seriously. Leoxi and Rodrigo didn’t know if it was easier to deal with the alpha or the queen, either of which could be quite complicated.

-Let’s see, start talking,” his tone was unexpectedly calm, “I won’t judge, I know there was something brewing between you two a long time ago, but I’d like to know how far you want to go,” Leoxi blinked.

Leoxi blinked several times. He thought he had kept it a secret all this time, but apparently he had been wrong. He grasped Rodrigo’s hand tightly in his own and spoke seriously.

-I am the one to blame and responsible for all this, but I promise you I am not playing games, I am serious.

Even Rodrigo beside him trembled slightly at those words. Even after everything that had happened between them, the Commander had never been so explicit in his feelings. He had even thought it was just a passing fling, but he was wrong. His heart began to pound and a slight blush spread across his face.

Nebraska noticed her eldest son’s reaction and slumped back, dropping her shoulders. He raised an eyebrow.

-I never really thought this would happen. But at least I’m more at ease if my son is in your hands. Of all my children he was under the most pressure and he really needs someone on his side who can help him,” their realization caught them off guard and they both looked at her in astonishment, “Tell me how it came to this?

-Ma…I,” Rodrigo went to start to speak but Leoxi squeezed his hand and shook his head smiling at him.

-Nebraska, this is all my fault, it was because I was careless but I really think it was the best carelessness I could have committed,” when he noticed that she wouldn’t interrupt him he continued, “The truth is that in the last mission we went to see the state of the iron herd by orders of my brother I took Rodrigo with me, I wanted a change of scenery and somehow I had gotten used to his presence, it made me feel more at ease,” he said.

-That was shortly after Priscilla was born,” Nebraska tilted her head, “They’ve kept it well hidden so that it’s from that date onwards.

Leoxi scratched the back of his neck.

-The truth is that in those days we were very stressed with the reorganisation of the herds and so on, and I forgot that my heat was very close. I remember I was feeling a bit sick but I was so busy that I didn’t really associate it with it but…

-That night Leoxi told me to stay in the room they had given each of us in the iron pack- Rodrigo interrupted him knowing that the twin’s memories were a bit hazy at the time- He says it was his fault but I was the one responsible for this to start- he lowered his head ashamed- He had noticed that he hadn’t been feeling well all day so I wanted to help him but he ordered me to stay in the room. I… I disobeyed him only because it had annoyed me that his tone sounded like my father’s when he ordered me to do something.

Leoxi’s thumb stroked the skin of his hand in a gentle massage. That day he knew he had almost shouted at him only because he knew he would attack him if he continued to stand in front of him.

-I went to his room,” she continued with a more noticeable blush on her cheeks, “I didn’t know his heat had come and we…

Nebraska’s brow furrowed.

-Did you hurt him?” She unconsciously bared her fangs. That one of her children had been hurt was something that made her angry.

Leoxi, to her shock, denied.

-I don’t know why, but my wild side accepted it and didn’t hurt him. Even my heat was milder than other times. After the first time I was able to have some control of my conscience even if my heat did not subside. I knew at that moment that Rodrigo had to be part of my life in the romantic sense- -I understand.

-I get it. And besides that little bit of rutting, do you want him, or is it just to appease your desire,” Nebraska’s tone was deadly cold.

One wrong answer and Leoxi knew his neck could be in danger. But he had nothing to hide.

-I want it. It’s mine,” he declared gutturally.

Nebraska then looked at her son.

-Rodrigo, I won’t get involved in your relationships, you’re an adult and you have the free will to choose what you want to be with, but I need to be sure. Are you happy with this and are you happy?

Rodrigo’s face was downcast and embarrassed by Leoxi’s open statements. The older man was quite reserved so saying he was hers was the equivalent of telling him she loved him, so he was left in no doubt when she nodded her head. Of course he was content and much happier now.

Nebraska relaxed her face and clapped her hands and stood up.

-All right, you can go now and go back to what you were doing before Hades bothered you, I’ll take care of him,” she said.

-Mother,” Rodrigo approached her and bowed slightly, “Thank you.

The omega ruffled his hair that had grown as if he was still a puppy.

-I’m your mother, you can count on me, so don’t ever keep secrets like this from me again,” she lifted him by the shoulders and hugged him, “And you, Leoxi, if anything happens to my son,” she said.

-Believe me, you won’t have to worry about that, Reina.

Nebraska nodded her head and before separating she whispered in Rodrigo’s ear.

-Have you guys made it to the end, the end?

Rodrigo knew she wasn’t just referring to having s*x, which of course she had given the beginning of their relationship, but to the issue of whether she had knotted and branded him.

-He hasn’t marked me yet because he wants it to be when my first heat comes when I’m older,” he murmured, “but we’ve come as far as you can imagine,” he was embarrassed to talk to his mother about such things, but in the last few years their relationship had grown strong enough for him to be able to tell her certain things.

Nebraska blurted it out. She was no one to judge, and she knew from Leoxi’s body language towards her son that he wasn’t lying when he said he would take care of her son. So now all that was left was to tame the beast out there. He walked over to the window and opened it.

-Get out this way. I’m sure they won’t want to look Hades in the face.

They both looked at each other and after smiling slightly at each other, Nebraska ignored him and disappeared out the window. She watched them turn around to go back to the elder’s room and she joined them at the door.

It was not an easy matter to explain but she had her methods. She went to the door and opened it.
