Queen Of The Alpha
Chapter 48

At the loud growl that shook the whole floor, Priscilla blinked several times and raised an eyebrow. Wow, this was new.

-Layan, are you sure you’re feeling all right? And don’t growl at me like that, I’m on your side, not the other side of the pack.

The alpha turned around with a frown on his face and the tips of his fangs protruding from the edge of his lips.

-What do you need Litus for?

-What, now you’re going to play the jealous mate? Because the truth doesn’t suit you. You didn’t mind that I was close to other males before, I don’t see why it bothers you now, besides, if I need Litus, it’s for something important-“.

Her words made Layan’s eyes slowly take on a yellowish tinge.

-Don’t try my patience Priscilla. Tell me what need Litus has to leave his pack to come here?

She snorted and tossed her hair back.

-The truth is, a lot, and even more so after what I have to tell him. Don’t insist, I’m not going to tell you.

-I didn’t know you had that kind of confidence with him.

Priscilla’s face darkened and Layan knew he might have said too much.

-If that’s what you’re imagining I hope you dismiss the thought as soon as possible because I won’t tolerate it,” her voice was low, three passing guards turned away from the dense atmosphere between the alpha and the one everyone thought he wanted as his future queen, “Litus was the one who took care of me all the years I was frozen and he’s one of the ones who can help me the most with my powers. I don’t have romantic feelings, no matter how alpha and attractive he may be.

-I didn’t mean to…” Layan tried to ease the tension after sighing but was interrupted.

-Alpha, I’m going to ask you a question and I’d like you to answer it,” her silver eyes were almost luminous and focused directly on him, “Do I look like an easy female?

Layan stood still, not moving, not speaking. Concentrating to breathe. No, of course not. Priscilla was not an easy she-wolf. With her body, beauty and power she could have anyone she wanted. But no, she’d only been chasing him, and quite persistently. He was the stupid one who hadn’t realised in time.

He shook his head slowly.

-I’m glad you’re clear on that. The only wolf I’ve allowed to touch me, lick me, k**s me, bite me is you, or don’t you remember what you do to me every night? What you did to him yesterday-

She’d heard the story from Victore, of the separation of the wild side and Layan’s conscious but she refused to think that the wolf remembered absolutely nothing of what he did to her every night, leaving her exhausted in bed, even if they didn’t go all the way. And to her surprise the look on Layan’s face threw her off.

-What was that you said,” the alpha wasn’t delusional, something had to happen to justify him waking up with Priscilla’s scent in his arms and fingers, the taste of her in his mouth, but from there to what she was saying….

Priscilla’s arms fell to either side of his body.

-You really don’t remember anything,” she started to move towards him and Layan as confused as he was now with that question all he did was back away, “You really don’t remember how you touch me, what you do to me? How yesterday you were so insistent and wouldn’t let me leave the room? How you lay on top of me in your animal form, how you almost broke my back? You don’t remember any of that?

With her every word Layan’s brain short-circuited. It would be wonderful if every single thing she was telling him she had actually done but the more he delved into her mind the less he found. It was as if there was a barrier that wouldn’t let him go any further, like the wall that cut off his passage behind him. His body was trapped between it and that of the she-wolf, who put a hand tightly to the side of his face. Priscilla’s brow furrowed.

-Do you want to drive me crazy Layan?

And Layan for his part said nothing, he just stared at her until the words finally left his lips.

-Did I do all that to you?” he asked more to himself than to Priscilla.

The she-wolf relaxed her face. There was no point in going on about it, for she had proven that it was indeed her wild side that was behind her, not her conscious side. She pulled her hand away from the wall to turn around, ending the conversation, but Layan’s arm wrapped around her waist and spun her around, pinning her against the wall. He leaned closer but didn’t let go.

-If you say it all happened, why can’t I remember,” Layan’s voice was barely a whisper, his face almost close to the she-wolf, and in his eyes, she could see the hint of desperation.

This time Priscilla was the one who couldn’t speak. She didn’t know if she was the one to tell him what Victore had been explaining. It wasn’t as if she fully understood either. But one thing she was sure of, Layan made her head hurt.

-Pricila, I…” Layan started to speak when he was interrupted.

-A male voice was heard at the end of the corridor and they both looked to the side.

One of them pursed his lips at the interruption, it was an important moment in the conversation and he needed answers. While the other smiled broadly, a smile that was far from fictitious.

Priscilla nimbly untangled herself from Layan’s arms and ran, puppy-like, in the direction of the newly arrived wolf and climbed on top of him. She hugged him tightly and wrapped her legs around his waist.

-I didn’t expect this welcome, but I’m also happy to see you,” the wolf smiled and placed a resounding k**s on the younger wolf’s cheek.

Layan slowly approached the two of them only to be focused by not two silver orbs, but four.

-Hello Leoxi.

Leoxi, Commander of the silver pack, brother to Hade and uncle to the she-wolf in his arms pulled his niece closer to him possessively. He was not very pleased with the image he had seen when he had entered the hallway. Especially the closeness between them. Priscilla may have looked like an adult wolf but she was still his pup.

-Hello alpha Layan,” she nodded her head with no intention of letting go of her niece.

-What’s the reason for your visit, some errand from Hades?

Leoxi shook her head.

-He came to bring me something I asked my mother to send me,” Priscilla looked over her shoulder and then laid her head in the crook of her uncle’s neck.

-You didn’t tell me anything,” Layan didn’t question her, but he liked to be in control of what happened in the pack.

-Maybe someone gave me the opportunity. I don’t think so,” she smiled, “Uncle, let’s go to my room,” she said to Leoxi, and he nodded.

-Alpha, if you’ll excuse me,” he turned and walked away.

Layan stood there watching the two of them walk away. On Priscilla’s face was a smile, one she had never given him before. And somehow his chest tightened. He reached into his pockets and turned around to go back to his office and that’s when he remembered that she had asked him for things from there.

Priscilla buried her face in her uncle’s neck which pushed her further up, and breathed in. The familiar smell was pleasant, but it wasn’t just the wolf.

-Uncle Leoxi, you smell like my brother,” she pulled away from him a little, which made him have to hold her tight to keep from dropping her. She wasn’t as small as before.

-Well, let’s just say that your brother and I are kind of in another stage of our relationship,” Priscilla smiled and kissed him.

Priscilla smiled and kissed his cheek.

-I imagine my dad almost killed you when he found out.

-Your father is…complicated, but the queen has him tamed, so there’s no more problem,” Leoxi laughed.

-As long as you take care of my big brother, I don’t think I’ll have to freeze you.

Leoxi tilted his head in amusement.

-So, changing the subject, I brought you what I asked your mother for, but more important than that… how’s it going with Layan,” he grimaced, “Give me the good news that you’re already disenchanted. Although you smell of him everywhere.

Priscilla’s smile was a little smaller. Where to start. It was a complicated question, especially since there were things she didn’t understand herself. And it wasn’t like she could tell her uncle everything they did behind closed doors when they weren’t yet a formal couple.

Layan saw Leoxi coming down the stairs and stood in front of him. He hadn’t seen him since yesterday when the commander had arrived. It had felt strange sleeping alone. Especially since it was impressive how quickly he had adapted to sleeping with a nice warmth next to him. The result was that he’d hardly slept at all.

-Priscilla is in her room?

-Yes, I just came to bring her something she wanted and to give her some family news,” Leoxi stretched.

-You slept with her?” Layan’s tone was possessive.

-We’re family, and Pris used to sleep with either of us at night, so it’s only natural that if I come over we’d sleep together.

Layan narrowed his eyes slightly to realise that he was getting jealous of an idea in his mind.

-Alpha, I’m going, I have a lot of work to do in my pack and my brother can hardly cope with it. He’s exhausted.

-Say hello to him and Nebraska.

The commander nodded and walked out the door and away into the distance.

Layan didn’t know how long he stood in the doorframe. Just staring off into the distance and thinking mostly about what Priscilla had told him about what he didn’t remember. His head hurt a little but no matter how hard he tried there wasn’t a single trace of those memories.

He felt frustrated.

-Alphaaaaaaaa,” Victore’s voice in the distance made him raise his head.

He was walking along with Kei and behind them, the person he least wanted to see at the moment.

Litus had arrived.
