Queen Of The Alpha -
Chapter 57
Litus sensed the door ringing and I didn’t have to do much to know who was on the other side of the door. The smell that filtered through even from the other side was quite potent and it was quite dense.
Layan was annoyed.
The alpha opened the door and of course the Council leader’s fist was expected to smash into his face. More than one bone crunched in his cheek but he said nothing as he remained seated on the floor. He was an alpha, yes, but he was as much in Layan’s pack as he had touched his she-wolf. That she had only hit him, and well nearly torn his neck, was a miracle.
I would have had him killed by now and nothing would have happened. He was the leader of the Council. He could do as he pleased.
-What the f**k were you doing?” the red-haired alpha’s growl rattled the windows.
-What part are you referring to? Litus kept his cool.
Layan glared at him, his eyes a deep gold.
-All of them. From kissing Priscilla to releasing his emotions. You’re out of your mind. You intend for her to die,” he realised he was shouting and clicked his tongue.
Litus rose from the ground with agile but measured movements. Layan wasn’t in a good mood and he shouldn’t provoke him.
-She asked me.
-Asked what?
-To release her emotions.
It took Layan a few seconds to process her words. Why would Priscilla want that?
-And you just did it? You yourself were the one who sealed her emotions to save her from dying. How the hell do you think she’s going to deal with that now,” his fangs showed.
Litus’ face remained calm.
-At first I really refused. Even when I did and began to undo the barrier inside her I still questioned it. But I was told what happened to her. Did she release your power?
Layan hid his fangs slightly and nodded.
-Then don’t be so alarmed. She must no longer be in danger.
-What are you talking about?
Litus raised his chin.
-If she learns to control your power, she can heal herself and hold back the accelerated aging of her cells.
And Layan was speechless.
Even though Layan had asked her to stay in the room, Priscilla was exhausted from being either in a bed or resting. That’s why before she knew it, she was already walking around the castle grounds. She was still somewhat confused about her emotions and learning from them or what she could remember.
There was a vestige of sleeping with her brothers and being held by her. The way she felt in those moments was distant but it felt good. When her mother would give her a k**s or her father would hold her in his arms. Happiness. That was the right word and it made her smile slightly.
Having emotions was complicated but it wasn’t unpleasant. At least for now and she could deal with it.
He stopped in his tracks and remembered the first time he had seen Layan, when he had gone to the Silver pack. It had been her first transformation and it had hit her. It had been comical, the look on her face when he’d taken her b***d and she’d known who she was. He could never forget her face. And of course she wouldn’t.
Her wolf was beautiful, not for nothing had she claimed him long before. He brought a fingernail to his mouth and pressed it, a slight metallic taste came to his taste buds and he thought there must still be some trace of b***d left on them and ignored it. But she couldn’t ignore how her heart was beating just as it had when she was a child.
Lailai. It was strange to remember that name and feel warmth inside her.
Yes, she liked to have emotions.
She took a step forward and realized that under her foot there were tiny flecks of snow. She narrowed her eyes. She had to be careful. Her powers were awakening under the influence of her emotions, so even if she felt them now, she had to keep them under control. It was not all happiness.
He took a deep breath and could feel the frost working. The training her mother had given her when she was very young could work to apply to all the powers that now resided in her body. Including that new one that had awakened. Layan’s.
She continued walking, letting the wind cool her face until she saw something in the distance that caught her attention. It had been a while since he had seen Leila, or rather, their paths hadn’t crossed and at least this one didn’t burst in the middle of the morning or early morning. Because for sure he was going to replace more than one scene of nudity and wet fondling starring his older brother. Layan could be intense in the middle of the night.
But what struck Priscilla the most was that she was not alone. Antoin, the wolf who had ogled her that day and caused more than one problem with Layan, was by her side. The only good thing, Leila was at least wearing the handle made of the omega bloodstone and the fibre of her hair. The bad. She didn’t like that wolf at all.
Still, she didn’t get into the relationship. She could see them talking, though she didn’t seem too happy. He had her by the wrist and wouldn’t let go. Maybe she should intervene but… Ahhhhhh having emotions made her hesitate what to do. That was the downside of it all.
She tried to enter the wolf’s mind and again she was rebuffed. This time von force that made her touch her temple. Damn why couldn’t she enter. So she walked over to them and grabbed his other hand as he raised it up with intentions of hitting her?
Her nails dug into his wrist, breaking the skin.
-What do you think you’re doing,” she glared at him.
Antoin swept her up and down and growled at her.
-Don’t growl at me wolf, I don’t think your alpha will be too happy to know you tried to hit his sister and challenge his mate,” his voice was flat and the temperature rose around them. It took all the wolf’s control not to burn something.
Antoin let go of Leila’s other wrist and shook the one Priscilla was holding.
-This won’t stay like this,” he pointed at them both and turned away. Priscilla already had him in her sights. That wolf was suspicious and she would replace out what he was up to.
-Are you all right? I don’t think you should see you with that wolf anymore,” she turned to Leila only to receive a slap across the face. Priscilla blinked and looked at her with wide eyes.
She clenched her fist in pain to help her calm down because…the bitch had hit her.
-Leila sobbed, “You don’t know what you’ve done,” Priscilla said.
Priscilla closed her eyes and stroked her throbbing cheek. She took a deep breath. Very deep. Indignation, rage, these were feelings that moved inside her and seemed to pour into her body like a waterfall. But she remembered that this was her wolf’s sister and she shouldn’t have hurt her. Even as her cheek throbbed because of this one.
-Yes, I know what I’ve done, or did you want him to hit you,” she tried not to sound rude.
-You don’t know anything,” she sobbed, “You don’t know anything,” and ran off.
How the hell would I know anything. She had seen that he was going to hit her and helped her. Wasn’t that enough? He didn’t really understand her. And now his mood was pretty sour so he decided to go back. She didn’t want to assault someone if she was so…upset.
She made her way to her room but she didn’t really feel like being there so she asked where the alpha was and got an answer. Minutes later she was in front of Layan’s study door and knocked.
He heard a nod from the other side and entered. Layan raised his head when he saw her enter and his eyes went straight to her cheek.
-What happened to you,” he was about to get up but she was already by the table and sat on the edge.
-Your sister hit me,” she blurted out, taking off her shoes and placing her feet on his thigh.
Layan knew their relationship was strained since they had fought but he had hoped things would calm down but apparently not.
-I’ll talk to Leila later,” he caressed her knees, “Why did you fight?
Priscilla grabbed his hand and began to play with his fingers.
-Apparently she doesn’t like people meddling in her life. I only helped her and I get this, but let her give you the details. She might come and complain to me just because I told you to.
Layan brought his hand to her cheek, which was starting to turn red, and touched it lightly.
-Are you upset?
-She made a slight grimace with her mouth.
Layan smiled and pulled her onto his lap.
-I’d gotten so used to your serious face that seeing it now is something completely new. I can tell how you feel.
-You’re lying. My face is still the same.
Layan moved his face closer and began to lick the part that was swelling.
-You’re wrong, precious,” and began to heal the bruise. If she knew how to control her power that would be a piece of cake. It was also time to start training her.
At that there was a knock on her door and a wolf came running in.
-Alpha, there’s been another attack.
And Layan growled.
