Queen Of The Alpha -
Chapter 8
Nebraska transformed her body quickly grabbing her daughter by the shoulders. And what she feared came true. Her daughter’s eyes were totally absent of irises so alike, yet so different from hers. It shook her. It couldn’t be. Her puppy was such a puppy. How was it possible that she could awaken a power that she herself had struggled to manifest for more than 50 years and being a pure omega.
Priscilla was not an omega, neither was she an alpha, her body had not inherited any of her or Hades’ genes, if it wasn’t for the alpha’s b***d she would be an ordinary wolf so there was no reason why she could manifest her abilities with her mind in that way.
-Ma- a warm smile crossed Priscilla’s face- I defended my brother from the bad wolf- her eyes were getting darker and her eyelids started to get heavy- I was good…so…praise me-.
Hades moved quickly and grabbed the body of his daughter who remained in her mother’s arms. Both magnates looked at each other worried, this was not even remotely as easy as they imagined. Hades carried his daughter who seemed to simply sleep. Her cheeks had turned pink and her breathing steady. As if nothing that had happened had disturbed her.
-Go tend to Alan, I’ll take care of her- the wolf understood that she was worried about her son too even though they were already checking on him.
Nebraska nodded and left a k**s on her daughter’s head and ran to where Leoxi was already bandaging Alan’s arm wound. Noa was next to them and as soon as her mother knelt down she hugged her shivering. Hades for his part, after taking a breath when he noticed that his adopted son was not seriously injured, stared at his daughter’s face and then at the wolf on the ground. It was the first time since he could remember that such a young wolf had killed an adult wolf or just killed something.
He adored his daughter but inside he wondered what she really was. He kissed her forehead. Whatever it was he would be there to support her for the road did not promise to be easy. And he had no idea.
Hades scrunched the bridge of his nose, around him stood Siran, Leoxi and Nebraska at his side. Their faces were extremely grim.
-No one can know what happened today,” he said in a tone that brooked no reply, “We need time to replace out what is going on.
His shoulders felt extremely heavy, so much so that it was a difficult burden to carry. Worry was something that tormented him.
-Don’t worry alpha- Siran nodded- My lips are a grave- and he knew that included Sara, his wife was not supposed to know anything about it.
Leoxi also agreed although he didn’t say anything.
-She- Nebraska’s voice was deep- She has a power equal to mine-.
The three wolves looked at her.
-What do you mean, queen?
Nebraska raised her head.
-As you know I am omega, I have the ability to bend the mind of the other wolves and to control them even physically, it is a power mainly to defend ourselves, I have never killed using it, nor should I, but…” she pressed her lips with frustration “Priscila is not omega like me, but she inherited the ability to do the same, what worries me is that maybe she is stronger than me…” A silence invaded the room, and the three wolves looked at her.
A silence invaded the room. Everyone had seen how she had killed the wolf with a single hand movement.
-Queen, how strong can Pris be,” Leoxi clasped her hands in her lap.
-Enough to worry me- she answered sincerely- She is very young and already awakened her ability to the point of killing, it took me many years and to master her a few more, besides- she took a deep breath- to kill like that it takes a lot of strength to shatter bones at convenience. Even I can’t do it at my age.
Even Hades seemed impressed with that.
-Hades, can I ask you a favor- Nebraska looked at him seriously- Let me train Priscilla, she is very puppyish but she is not like the other wolves, she will need direction- he took her hand, hers was freezing- She is a smart girl, I know it will be easy for her to learn- he said.
-It’s really a job that can only be done by you,” the wolf smiled to calm her down.
Nebraska seemed a little calmer despite the pressure. Minutes later Siran and Leoxi went out leaving the two of them alone. Hades couldn’t help but let out a sigh and threw his head back closing his eyes. He felt his wife’s hand on his shoulder with a hesitant touch. He opened his eyes to replace her face heavy with frustration and guilt.
-I’m sorry,” the words came out of his mouth, “You always wanted a puppy of your own. I didn’t think Pris would go through this.
Hades didn’t like her tone. HIS queen was always firm in the face of everything, she would not bend, but now, in front of him she seemed smaller and more distressed. The alpha took her by the hand and sat her on his lap. His arms wrapped around her neck and he buried his face in her neck breathing in her scent.
“Calm down my beautiful she-wolf, we have overcome many difficulties. Don’t blame yourself for anything, you did what was necessary when it was time. I’m happy to have Priscilla despite all the headaches she can give me, she’s the prettiest little wolf in the world- He separated Nebraska from him and took her cheeks between his hands- I don’t regret having you, none of you, so change that face and give me a k**s- he smiled at her.
Nebraska held his gaze, deadly serious for a few seconds. Then she let her lips fall against her husband. Yes, he was different from everything she supposed a relationship to be. Rudoc had marked her life in a very hard way. Hades had pulled her out of that black hole and taught her what it was to be loved and she never reproached him for anything. Absolutely nothing.
Hours later Hades found himself alone in his office lying on the couch. He had let Nebraska go off to tend to his children, especially Alan, it was a good thing he had only received a scratch. Caesar had already taken care of him and he would be back on his feet in no time. He was a wolf full of strength and energy so he would surely have to tie him to the bed to keep him still.
The door was knocked, and the person in his mind appeared.
-Alpha, I’d like to talk to you,” Caesar entered, bolting the door so as not to be interrupted.
The wolf settled down and let the doctor sit in front of him.
-What’s wrong, did something happen with Alan?” he thanked him with a nod of his head when the older wolf handed him a small bottle of one of his energy drinks, he needed it.
-Well, I already gave him a tranquilizer, I left him protesting in his bed since I paralyzed half of his body, this way, we will avoid him from hurting himself more, but no, I didn’t come for it- he looked up, and Hades knew what he meant- My alpha, excuse me for saying so but your daughter is not normal-” Hades ran his hair towards her.
Hades brushed his hair back.
-Tell me something I don’t know.
Caesar’s lips tightened.
-I have the results of my investigation on Priscilla, please take it easy.
-Anyone who hears you would say it’s not positive at all,” anxiety invaded his body.
Caesar handed him an envelope and waited for the alpha to open it. Hades felt his palms sweaty, even so he checked the papers even though he did not understand much, or did not want to understand.
-He threw the papers on the square next to the sofa, “Speak in our language, I don’t understand this.
-Hades, I’ll be brief, Priscilla’s metabolism is five times faster than a normal wolf- his alpha’s eyes widened- He knows what that means. We had noticed that her physical growth was more fluid than puppies her age but to be honest, Priscila’s body is neither the 10 years old she is, nor the 15 she looks like, currently she is almost on the verge of coming of age. We are talking that she is actually over 45 years old, at least genetically.
Hades could not speak. He just blinked, processing the information.
What worries me the most is -Cesar lowered his head- he had trouble saying the next thing- that with the speed her body is growing her tissues won’t have the facility to regenerate as easily as a normal growing wolf does- -What do you mean, Caesar?
-What do you mean, Caesar? Speak clearly- Hades growled at him.
-That it is possible that Priscilla… may not live to be more than 100 years old.
The news was a bucket of cold water for the wolf.
Outside the office, Priscilla dropped her back against the door. She had heard everything, she could only smile slightly, a smile that did not contain even a hint of joy.
