Shar dragged me out of bed this morning, hauling me down to eat breakfast and out of the door to sort out the belongings of Mr. Jenkins.

Walking through the house, it has an eerie feeling, like it’s lost something of major importance. The cold, quiet feeling has tears springing to my eyes.

‘Let’s start at the top and work our way down. All furniture stays. Axel said he’ll decide what to keep. It’s the personal things we need to sort out.’ Shar tells me with sadness in her eyes.

Brad walks up the stairs and pulls the attic entrance down, climbing up into the darkness. Listening to him lightly cursing as he stumbles around, I can’t help but look over at Shar with a smile.

‘Found it.’ Brad says as a light comes on and I climb the steps to see what we have to deal with.

Looking around the loft, I note lots of boxes which are scattered around them and thankfully some are marked informing us of their contents.

I look up at Brad, and he swallows hard. ‘Do you want me to bring them all downstairs so you can work on them? It may be easier because anything you want to go to Good Will, I can take out to the pickup.

‘Yeah, okay, Brad. That might not be a bad idea.’ I grab a box and take it down with me and notice Shar grabs one too.

In the dining room, we place the boxes on the table and I open mine, ready to see what’s inside. There are lots of photo albums. Opening a couple, I skim through and see pictures of a couple who I think may be Axel’s parents and Jenkins. I know Axel will want to keep these.

Labeling the box, I place it in a corner of the dining room and pick up the next one that Brad had brought down, and that is how the day progresses. One box after another. Do we keep this one or let it go? It’s exhausting and rather depressing, as this is someone’s life we are going through.

How do we decide what was really important to Jenkins, and what was not? It brings tears to my eyes at the thought that his life’s belongings are now in my hands.

We have the loft emptied by late afternoon. Boxes for the dumpster are near the back door and boxes for Axel to sort are now on the back seat of the pickup.

Brad has taken some things to the garage as a few boxes had car parts in them. That’s not our issue. Joe in the garage can sort through them.

Arriving at the compound, Beer helps us unload the boxes and we take them to Axel’s office. He’s going to have a hard time deciding what to do with all of this.

The next few days fly past, clearing out the house, taking clothes to Good Will and sorting out all the cabinets and cleaning each room as we finished it.

Today is the day of the funeral. Everyone is subdued. The atmosphere is full of sadness. Axel has ordered a black limo to take me and Shar to the Church and all the brothers are wearing black, with their kuttes worn proudly.

The hearse leads us on and Axel is behind on his bike, with Buzz and Drag behind him. Then the limo and behind us the rest of the brothers on their bikes.

People are lining the streets as we pass, and it shows how well thought of Jenkins was, that so many are standing showing respect as we pass.

The service was not too long. Axel said a few words and before I know it, we are standing watching his coffin being lowered into the ground. It’s then I notice he is in the same grave as Axel’s parents.

I slide my hand into Axel’s and give it a squeeze, which he returns. Once everyone has left, I place my head on Axel’s shoulder and just stand quietly until he is ready to walk away.

‘It’s nice you buried him with his friends Axel.’ I quietly say, wiping a tear that keeps escaping from the corner of my eye.

‘They did everything together. He needed to be with them in death as he was in life.’ Axel responds, then wraps an arm around my shoulders and we walk away, leaving Jenkins to rest in peace.

The rest of the day stays quiet. No one has any interest in anything else. Sitting around the clubhouse talking quietly and now and again laughing at some memory they have of Jenkins out and about in his recovery vehicle.

Beer is busy behind the bar, keeping everyone supplied. Shar and I are well into the Jack and Coke and if we’re honest, we’re both thinking of what has happened to us and how we’ve ended up here at this point in time.

‘Come on Shar, let’s go to my room. Axel is busy in his office, so let’s go and rest a while.’ I say, and looking at the time, it is early evening and we’ve eaten, so no point hanging around here, I think to myself.

‘No, let’s hang around a while longer Mia.’ Shar says, then walks over to talk to some of the brothers.

Following Shar, I throw myself down on a sofa and listen to the stories they are, I’m sure, expanding on.

A couple of hours later and the room is back to normal. Talking, laughing and bantering, just how Jenkins would have wanted it, if we’re all honest.

Axel and Buzz came through a while ago and he’s sitting with his arm around me, smiling at some of the things everyone is getting up to. I’m happy to see he will not let Jenkins’ death pull him down.

‘Come on Mia, let’s go to your room now.’ Shar giggles and Hammer slaps her ass hard, which has her jumping and laughing, pointing her finger at him, giving him hell for it.

We grab the Jack and Coke, dash upstairs to my bedroom, slipping in laughing loudly. We slam the door closed and throw ourselves on the bed.

Shar holds the glasses while I pour a good measure of Jack and top it with Coke. We didn’t bother with ice, although it would have been good.

Laying on my bed, I turn my head and look at Shar, ‘Are you really okay, Shar?’

‘Yeah, it was hard replaceing you, but I knew I had to, and I’m glad you found somewhere to be safe.’

‘I wasn’t looking to be around another MC. Axel was determined to clear my name though. He didn’t even know me, but he saw through all the bullshit, and I’m very grateful for that.’ I state, turning onto my stomach and crossing my legs at the ankles.

‘So you’re ol’ lady to Axel. What’s he like?’

Taking another large drink, I hand the glass over to Shar for a refill. ‘He’s kind, tough, I think, but he’s a good president. He cares about the men and the club.’

We spend another hour drinking and laughing, totally drunk at this point.

Shar throws herself onto the floor, picks her feet up, and balances them on the bed, staring at the ceiling. She shocks me when she says, ‘I need a man, a good dick, I need a good dickin’,’

Bursting out laughing, ‘Dickin’?’ turning on my stomach once more, I learn over the side of the bed, looking down at Shar.

‘Yeah, you know a big man, with a big thick, long dick, a good dickin’,’

Spluttering with laughter, I cannot help but lean over and slap her leg. ‘You’re a dirty girl. That’s what you are.’

‘Not had a good penis pusher in a long time,’ Shar states, seriously, her face screwed up in disgust.

‘Penis pusher,’ rolling about holding my stomach as it’s killing me with all the laughing.

‘Yeah, you know, one that knows how to use it, got a good thrust on him, only been with one man and he couldn’t push his penis for love nor money, total flop,’ giggling loudly, Shar snorts, then continues, ‘It sure was floppy, even his dick didn’t know what it was for.’

We spend a few minutes thinking quietly, but now and again giggle some more.

‘What’s your Axel like in the sack? Is he a good penis pusher? Bet he gives you a good dickin’,’

Shar looks like she’s sulking at the thought, but I cannot help but keep giggling. ‘Oh, we haven’t, not yet. I’m taking my time. I don’t want to rush into anything.’

‘Rush into anything. Fuck me, Mia, you need a cock-a-doodling, christ, woman. What are you waiting for? If he were mine, I’d climb him like a tree every chance I got.’

Rolling around on the bed, staring at the ceiling, I think about what Shar is saying, ‘We have kissed a few times, hold hands, and he puts his arm around me, it all feels natural, and I’m nearly ready to move forward Shar, but I was broken after what happened with Gunner.’

‘I know, babe, but you can’t hold on to that forever. Let it go, live, love, enjoy what you have now. I’ve decided I’m staying around, going to look for a job. I love you, girl, and I don’t want to leave you.’

‘I’m sure I can replace somewhere for you to stay. In fact, I’ll ask Axel if you can stay here and work with me at the club.’ I state excitedly, looking down at Shar, who looks a bit cross-eyed.

‘Okay, back to needing a dickin’,’ Shar says, which has me bursting out laughing once more.

A deep voice has us whirling around to look at the door, and Axel is leaning on the frame with Hammer looking over his shoulder, who then states, ‘I’m a big man, I’ll give you a good dickin-penispushing-cockadoodle-doing.’ That has both of us howling with laughter, tears rolling down our cheeks.

Hammer reaches down and picks Shar up and carries her out, and Axel lies on the bed with me, tucking me into his side. I can feel his chest shaking with his silent laughter. The heat of his body is comforting, and that is how I fall asleep.
