Chapter 92

Matthew cast a cold glance at her and said with a harsh tone, "I don't know how to teach others to play chess, nor am I particularly fond of it. I only hope that Yasmine can come and play a few games with me when she has time." The look in Yvette's eyes changed. She could no longer maintain her composed and gracious demeanor while being entirely. disregarded and thought, 'Has Yasmine cast a spell on Grandpa to make him neglect me?' Then she said harshly for the first time, "Grandpa, Ms. Sanchez is an outsider, after all, I am your granddaughter-in-law."

Xavier immediately said, "Yvette, what nonsense are you talking about?"

"What's wrong, Xavier? Am I not right? After all, I'm the one you're going to marry." Yvette said stubbornly.

Matthew placed his white stone heavily on the board and said in a deep voice, "Xavier, don't you have work at the company? You both. should just leave. I'm fine. There's no need for you to come here just to piss me off.

"Grandpa, I'll take Yvette back then" Xavier glanced apologetically at Yasmine, only to replace that she hadn't even looked at him.

He grabbed Yvette's hand. "Let's go."

Yvette's face was full of displeasure as she followed Xavier out of the Flynn manor. Then Xavier asked, "Why did you suddenly show

"Xavier. I misspoke just now, but what I said is also true. I'm the one you're going to marry. Why is Grandpa so harsh with me? You didn't even tell me you were coming here, and she was here too. Seeing the three of you laughing together, it felt like I was the outsider! I'm just aggrieved. I really want to fit into your family. I know Grandpa has never liked me, so I came here to try and make a good impression," said Yvette, tears streaming down her cheeks.

As Xavier saw her dejected appearance, his heart softened. He thought, "Yvette is usually so elegant and composed in front of others. She must have lost her composure because she feels deeply wronged.

He said. "I was just being anxious. Grandpa hasn't been well lately, and he's grown accustomed to Yasmine's company. Please try to understand. In the future, Ill bring you here so you can make a good impression."

Yvette brushed aside some stray hair, her tears still shimmering in her eyes. "Xavier, I understand. I won't make things difficult for you." "Let's go, then," said Xavier.

"I drove myself here. You go ahead, I'm going to visit my mom." Yvette pointed to her car.

Xavier didn't insist and said, "Be careful on the road.

Inside the Flynn manor, Yasmine and Matthew had finished playing two games, both of which Yasmine had lost.

Yasmine had just moved a piece on the board when her phone rang. She picked up her phone and was surprised to see it was Yonas. She glanced apologetically at Matthew and said, "Grandpa, I need to take this call." "Mr. Russell?" she asked, puzzled.

Yonas chuckled softly and asked, "Yasmine, where are you?"

"I'm at the Flynn manor,"

"What are you doing there? Are you done now?"

Yasmine was momentarily taken aback by his slightly questioning tone and replied, "Grandpa wasn't feeling well, so I came to check on him. We are playing chess now."

"I'll come pick you up in an hour."

"What happened?" she asked, but the call was already disconnected.

Yasmine stared at her phone and thought in confusion, "What's going on??'

She sat back down to continue the game with Matthew, who smiled and asked, "Yasmine, is everything alright?"

Yasmine replied, "A friend said he'll come to pick me up later. I'm not sure what it's about."

Matthew gave her a deep look. "Then let's hurry and play a couple more games before you leave."

"Alright," Yasmine said. She was spared the trouble of explaining her departure to Matthew.

As Matthew moved another piece on the board, he grumbled, "Yasmine, don't try to fool me. I've already noticed. You could have won the last game, but you let me win on purpose."

"Grandpa, your skills are far superior. I couldn't win even if I tried. You are flattering me just to make me feel better, right?" Yasmine said with a smile, placing another stone.

"I know you better than you realize. Yasmine, ignore that brat Xavier. Just the sight of him irritates me!" Matthew sighed.

He thought, "Yasmine is such a wonderful girl, but too bad, she is no longer part of our family. Xavier has gone too far. They're divorced, yet he still... I'm not senile. I've noticed how he has kept his eyes on Yasmine throughout the game. When they divorced, I knew this day would come' "Grandpa, I understand," Yasmine said. She knew that Matthew genuinely cared about her. After playing two more games, she took her leave.

As Matthew looked at the board in front of him, he realized that the black pieces had positioned themselves strategically, putting the white pieces on the defensive. Despite having the advantage, the black pieces had deliberately refrained from delivering a checkmate, leaving an opening for the white pieces to maneuver.

He chuckled softly to himself and thought, Yasmine is terrible at pretending

The butler, holding some supplements that Yvette had brought, asked, "Matthew, would you like to try these? They seem quite valuable."

Matthew glanced at them and said lightly. "Forget it. Just put them away. I'm not blessed enough to enjoy them."

When Yasmine walked out of the Flynn Manor, Yonas hadn't arrived yet. She thought she'd wait at the gate for a few minutes, but unexpectedly, someone called out to her, "Yasmine.

Yasmine quickly turned her head to see Yvette stepping out of her car and walking over with a smile. She asked, "It's you? You didn't leave?"

Yvette walked up to Yasmine and said in an unfriendly tone, "I waited here specifically for you. There are some things better said in person." 'She finally stops pretending to be the gentle person she isn't and reveals her true nature. With that in mind, Yasmine chuckled lightly and said, "Go ahead."

"Ms. Sanchez, if you're wise, you'll keep your distance from Xavier. You're divorced now, and I'm about to marry him. If you two only harm you," Yvette

Yasmine scoffed, "Ms. Grant, rather than wasting time saying this to me, why don't you talk it over with Xavier? He and I are already divorced, and I'm not one to go back to old flames, especially not to someone like Xavier.

"Then why are you at the Flynn manor? You even made me look foolish in front of Grandpa. You must be feeling quite smug, knowing that Matthew dislikes me but favors you, right?" The thought of what had just happened made Yvette furious.

"You're mistaken. I came here because Xavier told me that Grandpa had a poor appetite and wanted to see me. I had no idea he would be here too. Regarding your claim that Grandpa likes me, that's not for me to decide. He naturally favors whoever treats him well. Yasmine found it all rather amusing.

She thought, I used to think Yvette was cultured and polite. Though she can be a bit sarcastic at times, she isn't without sense. But now 1 realize she is just immature and foolish

"Ms. Sanchez, I'm advising you not to ruin my relationship with Xavier. He doesn't love you; otherwise, he wouldn't have divorced you for me, Yvette said arrogantly.
