Chapter 195

Chapter 195 Will Not Know Without Trying

Eileen answered the phone, engaging in casual conversation about daily activities and meal choices. Itseemed that Jasper had impeccable timing, as he was usually the one initiaung the calls. Eileen didn’tuse her phone often, but when she remembered, she would send a text message.

After seven or eight minutes, Eileen served the cooked pasta.

“Apologies, Mr. Smith, for the party ending so late. May I have the pleasure of joining you for a drink?”A gentle and pleasant voice echoed from Eileen’s mobile phone, belonging to an elegant and wealthywoman.

Lost in thought while preparing the pasta, Eileen ended up burning her hand, which was quiteunbelievable.

Elizabeth had just stepped out of the meeting room when she noticed a figure on the balcony. Sheapproached and saw him slightly turning his body to make a phone call, so she immediately fell silent.

Jasper cast an icy, displeased glance at Elizabeth, startling her.

He was about to explain, but Eileen said, “If you’re busy, I won’t bother you. Go back to i hotel and restearly.”

The call was promptly disconnected. Eileen didn’t ask for any explanations. Even though she hadheard everything, she remained magnanimous, refraining from prying or questioning.

For a moment, Jasper was overwhelmed with a myriad of emotions, feeling a subtle sense of lossquietly sweeping across his heart.

Jasper slipped his phone into his suit pocket. At that moment, his entire body, from the tips

past Elizabeth of his fingers to the tattoos on the back of his hand, felt icy cold. He walked withindifference.

Elizabeth suddenly spoke up. I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you were on the phone.”

Jasper slowly halted his steps. “Is that so? Well, you better be careful in the future. With your status, you’re not even qualified to speak to me.”

Fabian had just returned from outside, holding a pink gift box in his hand. “Mr. Smith, I’ve bought thegift Ms. Eileen requested. Ms. Eileen didn’t specify any particular flavor, so I bought one of each kind

Jasper pressed the elevator button to go downstairs. “Well done.”

Since that phone call, the two hadn’t spoken for two day’s,

However, she received the cotton candy that Jasper had someone bring back for her from Seatown.

Hulbury also had its own offerings. After trying many places, Eileen still found the taste of the cottoncandy from the old spot in Seatown to be the best.

That day happened to be the day of the enrichment program exam. Without a doubt, Eileen would bethe only one with the special qualifications to enter the Olympiad Math Class.

Eileen stepped forward to hand in her paper, placing it directly on top of the pile. Gilbert said to her.“Work hard. Don’t let Jacob down. He and I both think highly of you.”

Eileen replied, “I will, Mr. Campbell.”

Once the exam was over, Natalie was already waiting for Eileen at the classroom door. She seemedeven more nervous than Eileen. Clutching her backpack strap, Natalie immediately approached Eileenwhen she saw her come out. “Eileen, was it very difficult? You’re so talented, you must haveconfidence in yourself. I believe you can definitely come in first.”

Eileen felt a buzzing in her ears. She had never met anyone who loved to talk as much as Natalie.Natalie was like a mosquito, ceaselessly buzzing around her ear.

Eileen asked, “Isn’t it time for lunch? Aren’t you going to eat?”

“I’m waiting for you! I want to grab a bite with you after your exam. There are a few questions. I don’tquite understand. I was hoping to ask you about them,” replied Natalie.

Eileen gazed into Natalie’s innocent, harmless eyes. Quickly, she averted her gaze. Let’s do it togetherthen.”

“Well…

Natalie had been hanging around Eileen for quite some time. Ever since Eileen helped. Natalie out of atight spot last time, that seemingly naive girl would always buy things for Eileen. Natalie would go to thesnack shop, buy snacks, and then sneak them into Eileen’s desk when class was over. Among the pileof snacks, there was always a milk candy.

Eileen couldn’t eat it as it was too sweet.

In the past, whenever she ate something sweet, she would always get a toothache.

Eileen had once returned Natalie’s snacks, but the pitiful look on Natalie’s face made it seem as ifEileen was the one who had done something wrong

Eileen had never been so scared of someone crying before.

Rather than laughing herself, Eileen preferred to watch Natalie laugh..

If Eileen’s existence to Jasper was redemption, then Natalie and her smile were something

similar to Eileen.

Natalie’s smile was soothing to Eileen.

Eileen had seen Natalie’s grades. They were the worst in Class Two, and even in Class Six, her gradescould be the lowest.

She originally thought that Elm was the one at the bottom.

During the last final exam, Natalie didn’t take the test because she was sick and absent.

As a result, Natalie’s grades weren’t on the bulletin board.

With her grades, she should have been in Class Six, but she was in Class Two instead.

Eileen didn’t ask much about the reasons behind such matters.

After they finished lunch, Eileen took Natalie to the library.

Eileen used to tutor Elm every day, but she had switched to tutoring him every Tuesday, Thursday, andFriday. In reality, his grades were already good enough to get into Hulbury University. He had improvedvery quickly. After the last quiz, he was already ranked in the top ten of his class.

During those past few days at the library, Elm had been accompanied by his girlfriend.

As a result, Eileen felt like a third wheel.

That time, Eileen arrived at the library first. Seeing that Elm hadn’t arrived yet, she began teachingNatalie.

There, she realized that Natalie couldn’t even solve the most common questions.

Squeezing her pen, Natalie dared not lift her head. “Eileen, am I really stupid? Why can’t I learn nomatter how much I’m taught?”

Tve switched several classes, and they all laugh at me, calling me an idiot. I wasn’t like this before. Iused to be smart. However, when I was young, my family was poor, and we lived in a small mountainvillage. I fell ill, had a high fever, and didn’t get to take medicine on time. That damaged my brain, causing my poor memory Eileen, rest assured, I will definitely work as hard as you I can solve thequestions you taught me last time now.”

Eileen asked. “Why don’t you change classes?

Natalie lowered her head so much that her face was almost touching the table. In a voice as soft as awhisper, she slowly said, “They despised me for being unintelligent and I was

constantly bullied. That’s why I had to switch classes multiple times. It was only when I was in ClassTwo that I faced less bullying. The teacher warned that if I changed classes again, I would be expelled.”

So, that’s the situation? Eileen reassured, “Don’t worry, no one will ever bully you again.”

“Eileen, which university are you planning to attend? Can I join you there?”

“Hulbury University.”

Natalie deflated like a balloon. “This is so difficult…”

“How will you know if you don’t give it a try?”

“I… will do my best.” Natalie was very beautiful, like a delicate doll, yet she also resembled at blankcanvas, possessing qualities that many others lack.

One of those qualities was kindness.

Her kindness was evident. No matter how much others bullied her, as long as they apologized, shewould always respond with a smile, saying, “It’s okay.”

That was something Eileen could never do.

Natalie didn’t have any true friends. Even if there were any, they were the kind with insir intentions, pretending to care.

The last time Eileen saw Natalie, she was helping the girls in her class by fetching hot wat carrying onecup after another. When Natalie accidentally fell, no one cared if she had been burned. Instead, they allblamed her for carelessly breaking expensive cups.
