Chapter 288

Chapter 288 Did Someone Visit My Room Last Night?

After returning home, Jasper sat on the living room couch, smoking throughout the night. The ashtraywas filled with cigarette butts.

As dawn broke around six in the morning, the sky began to brighten. The housekeeper who arrived toclean up was taken aback when she found the living room filled with thick smoke.

Shouldn’t Mr. Jasper, who just got engaged to Ms. Eileen yesterday, be at the hotel with her at thistime?

“What time is it now?” Jasper suddenly spoke, startling the servant.

“Mr. Jasper, it’s almost six o’clock.” |

Is it already daylight?

Jasper glanced outside with his bloodshot eyes. As he stood up from the couch, his body swayedunsteadily. Suddenly, without any warning, he closed his eyes and inexplicably fainted.

“Mr. Jasper!” The servant exclaimed in shock, quickly calling for the family doctor.

The family doctor arrived half an hour later, and after conducting a thorough examination, he said. “Mr.Jasper is merely suffering from fatigue due to lack of rest. Let him have a good sleep, and he’ll be finewhen he wakes up.”

Layla, too, didn’t sleep a wink the night before. Upon learning that Jasper had fainted, she could onlysigh deeply.

Martha stepped forward to tuck her in “Old Mrs. Smith, you should really get some sleep now. It’salready

dawn.”

Suddenly, Layla asked, “Has the child been found?”

Martha said, “Just now, Mr. Zimmer checked the surveillance feeds. He found that the child waswalking together with a woman. After they left… we couldn’t replace out anything about the child’sbackground! It’s really strange. Mr. Jasper has always been chaste and never fond of stirring up troubleoutside, so how could there be a child who looks exactly like him? If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, Iwould replace it hard. to believe.”

“There was a time when Richie was acting foolishly…” Layla suddenly thought of something. “Where isthe photo? Show me the photo of the child leaving

“Alright, I’ll go get it right away. Please don’t worry, Old Mrs. Smith.”

After Martha handed her the photos, Layla’s hands trembled, while excitement began to show on herface. In several of the photos, the child’s facial features were somewhat blurred due to the darkness ofthe night, but at a glance, one could still make them out.

Layla meticulously searched for something. It wasn’t clear through one thing after another, unsure ofwhat she was looking for until she stopped at the last picture.

In the photograph, a woman was seen holding the hand of the child they were looking for. She hadturned her head, revealing her side profile.

Upon seeing her, Layla’s eyes widened. “It’s her. It really is her.”

Martha asked. “Who is she?”

“Who else could it be but her? When she agreed so easily back then, I knew she was hidingsomething.” Layla’s gaze darkened. “Do everything you can to contact Nancy. If it’s a child of the Smithfamily, we must bring him in.”

Martha was surprised. “It really is Nancy. But if Nancy comes back, what will Ms. Eileen do? Given hertemperament, I’m afraid she won’t stay with Mr. Jasper. If Ms. Eileen is not around, Mr. Jasper willdefinitely be the same as before, and by then, none of us will be able to do anything.”

Layla fell silent, lost in thought. On one side was her grandson, and on the other was the Smith family. She couldn’t bear to let go of either.

After a while, she said, “Don’t let Eileen know about this. She’s going to Pillere for three months today.Let’s resolve this matter within this period.”

The timing of this child’s appearance is just perfect!

Someone like Nancy would never be accepted by the Smith family, for Layla would absolutely not allowat second Ruth to ruin the family.

“Yes, Old Mrs. Smith.”

At eight o’clock in the morning, Eileen was roused by the persistent ringing of her phone. She sat up.

rubbing her groggy head. Dressed in a Blake nightgown, she leaned on the bed.

What’s going on? Why does my head hurt so much? Did I not sleep well last night?

She then stared at the ruined roses in the room, petals scattered all over the floor.

Why have the beautiful flowers come to this? What happened last night? Why can’t I rememberanything at all?

All she remembered was taking the room card from the bellboy. When she returned to her room, shefelt a bit warm. It seemed like she had taken a bath in the bathroom. After that, she seemed to recallthat she had fallen asleep.

She hurriedly threw off the covers and got out of bed. The moment her bare feet touched the floor, herentire body suddenly gave way, causing her to fall to the ground. At the same time, she felt a fearingpain in her lower body, and her lower abdomen was slightly bloated.

No longer a virgin, Eileen understood what happened.

Only after being intimate with a man, do I experience this kind of feeling. Could it be that Jasper cameback last night? If we slept with each other, why don’t I remember anything?

Just then, the hotel room door swung open from the outside, and a hotel housekeeper walked in, “Miss, are you alright?”

Eileen replied, “Who let you in? I didn’t call for anyone.”

The hotel housekeeper revealed a professional smile, respectfully saying, “Mr. Smith requested awake-up call, saying you have a flight to catch today. I knocked on the door several times, but therewas no response, so I had to come in. Ms. Swan, you have three hours left before your flight. It’s timeto get up. She stepped forward to help Eileen. up.

Eileen sat on the bed, looking at her haggard reflection in the glass window. Tentatively, she asked,“Did

someone come to my room last night?”

The hotel housekeeper replied, “We’re not sure about that! However, we do have staff on duty at ourhotel who might know. I can ask them for you.”

Eileen held her forehead, her breath short and her whole body in discomfort.

The housekeeper informed Ms. Swan, “You had a drink last night, so it’s natural for you to have aheadache this morning. We have prepared a remedy for hangover, and we will bring it to you shortly,”

Eileen replied, “But… I mostly had fruit wine last night, which wasn’t very strong.”

The housekeeper smiled slightly. “You must not be a regular drinker. Indeed, the fruit wine in our hotelmight not be strong enough for those who frequently drink, but for those who don’t, it can have quite aneffect. Usually, you won’t feel much at first, but later on, you’ll start to feel a warmth spreadingthroughout your body, and your head might feel dizzy. These are all normal reactions.”

Is that really the case? I don’t usually consume alcohol, nor do I have much of a taste for it. However, Idid end up drinking quite a bit during the toasts last night. Nevertheless, that still doesn’t explain thephysical pain I’m experiencing.

Eileen felt too embarrassed to ask this question.

Immediately after, the housekeeper stepped forward and touched Eileen’s forehead. “Ms. Swan, areyou feeling weak all over, experiencing a headache, and a bit nauseous?”

Eileen nodded. “Yes, a little.”

“That’s normal. You might feel better after you finish the hangover remedy.”

Eileen replied, “Okay.”
