Chapter 134

Easton looked out the window. It was late autumn, and the sunlight was harsh.

After a long silence, he spoke in a calm tone: "Refund the money She's my wife, and paying her medical bills is my. responsibility. Also, when you get back, send one of my black cards to Natalie. She can use it however she likes." Xavier was speechless, but he could only follow orders. "Alright, Mr. Garcia."

As Xavier stopped at a red light, he refunded the money to Natalie, knowing she wouldn't accept it.

At that moment, Natalie was having a meal. She noticed the refund and the message.

Xavier: [Ms. Shawn, Mr. Garcia said that since you are his wife, it's only right for him to pay your medical expenses.]

Natalie immediately called Xavier.

"Hello, Ms. Shawn," Xavier greeted, putting the call on speaker.

Natalie's voice was cold: "Xavier, tell Mr. Garcia that we are in the process of divorcing. I won't use a penny of his money. He once said I didn't deserve to spend his money, and I never will."

She continued with a distant voice. "I've transferred the money back to you, and don't send it again. If you have time, tell Easton to finalize the divorce sooner." She hung up immediately and transferred the money back again. Xavier chuckled helplessly. "Mr. Garcia, as you just heard, Ms. Shawn won't use your money."

In truth, all of Easton's actions toward Jennifer amounted to nothing more than spoiling a mistress.

Frowning, Easton muttered, "What I said back then was just in anger."

"But, Mr. Garcia," Xavier continued, "even if it was just anger, everything you did for Ms. Simpson was the behavior of a man keeping a mistress. The entire Simpson family knows it. They favor her and accept your favoritism toward her."

He continued. "You give her millions every month while ignoring your wife. To us, you are the textbook definition of a scumbag. Mr. Garcia, you shouldn't delay Ms. Shawn's future. Just go through with the divorce."

"Xavier." Easton glared at him furiously. "I told you, what I said back then was just in the heat of the moment. Natalie used to be malicious."

"Mr. Garcia, I don't want to argue. You and the others only see Jennifer through rose-colored glasses. No matter what she does, she's always right in your eyes. Because everyone scolds Ms. Shawn, you've convinced yourself that she's wrong."

He paused for a moment and continued speaking. "But as an outsider, I can see that all you've done is favoritism. And yet you think you're being righteous and kind, full of gratitude and affection. True loyalty is what Ms. Shawn has shown- staying by your side without complaint. From childhood, Jennifer has only ever taken from you without giving anything in return. She's the perfect example of a 'white moonlight-someone who doesn't need to contribute but still earns your love." She's the perfect example of a 'white moonlight-someone who doesn't need to contribute but still earns your love."

"But to us, and especially to Ms. Shawn, your actions are terrifying." Xavier finished in one breath, feeling immensely satisfied. As the traffic light turned green, he started the car with a grin.

Easton sneered. "You really took her words to heart and came to act as her messenger, didn't you?" He had no intention of divorcing Natalie.

He knew now that Jennifer wasn't as innocent as she seemed. If Natalie hadn't shown him the photos and videos, he wouldn't

have believed the truth. Jennifer had been meticulous, but this incident had exposed her secrets.

Xavier laughed. "Mr. Garcia, I just think Ms. Shawn is pitiful. She's taken care of you all these years without any income of her own, and you wouldn't even let her use your money. You've used her perfectly as a pawn."

He paused for a moment and then continued. "Natalie isn't just some country girl-she's a brilliant gem. Now that she's free of you, she's finally shining. Why not let her go?"

Easton's dark eyes locked onto Xavier. "Shut up. Now."

Every word from Xavier reminded Easton just how despicable he'd been.

Xavier stopped talking, but he felt great inside. Saying what he wanted was cathartic. 'If he had the chance to speak his mind, why not enjoy it?' he thought. He grinned from ear to ear, already thinking about opening a bottle of wine to celebrate that night. Easton fell silent, completely lost in thought.

After lunch, Natalie and Murray headed out. Murray had arranged for Natalie and her daughter Luna to stay at a hotel, just across from his apartment.

The hotel suite was luxurious and comfortable.

Natalie, still weak from her illness, sat down and said, "Murray, thank you. Mr. Wayne's birthday is the day after tomorrow, so we'll return tomorrow."

Murray looked exhausted. "This time, the other side used people from the Storm Alliance. It's been impossible to track down who's behind it. Our branch lost a major deal, and now the shareholders are questioning my ability. My grandmother has to deal with the board's pressure every day."

Natalie leaned back on the sofa, letting out a cold laugh. "Jennifer tried to ruin you when she couldn't manipulate you. won't let you become an obstacle."

She

Her expression turned heavy. "The Spencer family is in for more trouble. We need to replace out which company Jennifer is working with. Our best chance is to investigate Bernille now."

Natalie looked determined. "Let's spend today and tomorrow tracking down which company took over your previous deal. If

know anyone there, offer them some money. As long as we get a lead, we can trace it back to Jennifer."

Murray shook his head. "I've already tried that. You know what they told me? The other side offered them a higher profit margin, just to keep the partner's identity hidden. Their only condition for the deal was that I wouldn't replace out who's behind it." Natalie gave him a meaningful look and smiled. "Murray, you still have two days. I'm sure we'll uncover something. I'll take a nap for an hour. Meet me in the hotel lobby afterward, and we'll continue our investigation."

Seeing how tired she was, Murray nodded. "Alright. Get some rest." Murray stood up and left, his once frivolous figure now appearing much more mature.

After he left, Natalie took off her shoes and lay down on the sofa too weak to move.

Luna came over with her medicine. "Ms. Shawn, take your medicine first."

Natalie sat up, took the water Luna handed her, and swallowed the pills.

Luna then gave Natalie a tablet. "Ms. Shawn, I did some more digging this morning. One of the business people Murray met with had contact with this woman. Take a look."
