Chapter 139

"Jasmine, how exactly am I shameless? Go ahead, tell me

A cool, clear voice came from behind, stunning everyone.

Easton whipped around to see Natalie standing beside Murray, holding a piece of cake and eating it with relish. A bit of white frosting smudged the corner of her mouth, and Murray leaned in gently to wipe it away. Easton exhaled in relief, though irritation bubbled beneath the surface-he had doubted Natalie again. The sight of Murray's affectionate gesture only darkened his expression further.

Jennifer gasped in shock. "Natalie, you... How?"

Natalie tilted her head, feigning innocence. "Jennifer, what's with that look? Talking behind my back again?" She gave a pitiful glance, the picture of vulnerability.

Jennifer stammered, "I-I wasn't..."

Jasmine, overwhelmed with frustration, demanded, "Natalie, why are you here?"

Natalie looked puzzled. "Where else would I be? A gust of wind knocked over the flowers outside, so the butler and I were just putting them back. I walked in, and the next thing I know, you're calling my name."

The butler confirmed with a chuckle, "Indeed. There was quite a breeze earlier, blowing flower arrangements and gift cards all over the entrance. Luckily, Ms. Shawn helped us pick them up." Jennifer and Jasmine stood frozen in disbelief. They thought, "Then... who was inside that room?

Colin, his fury simmering, led the group forward. He yanked the curtain open-and what they saw stunned everyone into silence. Jennifer's eyes nearly popped out of her head, her entire body trembling uncontrollably. Wendy stared at the scandalous scene, recognizing the couple on the bed. It's Nick and his mistress.

Jennifer stumbled backward in shock.

Colin's face was as dark as a storm cloud. It was now crystal clear to him-Jennifer had used him. After decades of navigating ruthless business rivalries, such petty tricks were easy for him to detect. Easton immediately turned toward the door, unwilling to waste another second on the sordid spectacle.

Wendy, however, smiled coldly. This is the perfect chance to deal with that mistress. Ever since their last encounter, Wendy had been waiting for an opportunity-and now it had fallen right into her hands. Clutching her designer bag, she marched toward Nick and swung it at his head with all her strength.

"Nick, you bastard!" she shouted, her voice brimming with fury.

Nick, startled by the blow, snapped out of his daze. The drug in his system hadn't been strong to begin with, and Wendy's attack shocked him fully awake. He stared at the scene before him, horrified. Looking down at the woman beside him, panic seized him. "How? Wendy, I... I..." he stammered.

Before he could finish, Wendy raised her hand. Slap! Her palm connected with his cheek in a resounding strike. Slap! Another followed swiftly.

Dizzy from the blows, Nick stuttered, "Wendy, I swear, I don't know what happened! I don't know how I ended up here!*

Wendy's voice dripping with cold rage. "Humiliate me at Mr. Wayne's banquet? You've really outdone yourself, Nick."

"Jennifer nearly lost her life saving Mr. Wayne's grandson. And yet, you shamelessly take advantage of this to engage in this sordid affair with another woman. Do you have any respect left for Mr. Wayne at all?" Wendy fought back tears, her expression a mix of anger and betrayal. Nick had never seen Wendy this furious. Fear clutched his hearts he tried to grasp the enormity of his mistake.

Wendy's gaze darkened as she stared at the woman huddled under the blanket. She thought, 'Cheap woman, it's your turn now.' She tossed her bag aside and yanked the blanket off.

Nick rushed over to stop her. "Wendy, we were set up! We... we... le stammered, unable to finish his sentence-after all, he had walked in here of his own will.

Wendy shoved him away in fury, her voice cold. "Nick, we've been married for so many years, and you still managed to humiliate me like this? Well done!" She bit her lip, her eyes filled with fiery rage, but her expression was one of wounded innocence and helplessness. Seeing Wendy like this left Nick dumbfounded. He had never seen her this furious before.

Ignoring him, Wendy turned toward the mistress cowering under the blanket. She thought, 'Your turn, you wretch. She grabbed a fistful of the woman's hair, and slapped her repeatedly pouring two decades of suppressed rage into each hit.

"Ahh! Stop! Please, Nick, help me! It hurts! Stop!" the mistress shrieked, her cries echoing through the room.

The crowd was stunned into silence.

Meanwhile, Murray leaned down and whispered in Natalie's ear, "Quite a show, huh? Watching Jennifer act like a clown was oddly satisfying. The Simpson family's schemes are so blatant, yet they still blame everything on you. Some people are just hopeless." Natalie, licking the last of the frosting off her spoon, muttered, I could really go for a drumstick right now."

Murray chuckled, exasperated. "Why are you always obsessed with chicken drumsticks?"

Natalie raised an eyebrow at him. "Because they're delicious!"

Murray shook his head, amused. He thought, 'Good food really does make everything better when you're watching a trainwreck unfold.

Suddenly, a furious shout came from inside the room. "That's enough, Wendy."

Wendy, panting from exhaustion, finally let go. The mistress lay motionless on the bed, sobbing pitifully. Wendy noticed a pitcher of water nearby, picked it up, and dumped it over Nick from head to toe. Nick spluttered, utterly humiliated. This was the most degrading moment of his life.

He thought, 'Why did I walk into this room? He recalled following his mistress inside earlier, succumbing to temptation, and losing control in an instant. But how had anyone heard them over the loud music?'

Wendy gave a mocking laugh, her voice sharp and deliberate. "Enough? Nick, do you think this is enough? After humiliating me in front of everyone, do you think you can just walk away?"

She turned to Colin and bowed apologetically. "Mr. Wayne, I am deeply sorry for what these two have done at your party. Feel free to deal with them however you see fit." With that, she stormed out, leaving the mess behind. Nick grew desperate, frantically signaling Jennifer for help. "Mr. Wayne, I swear, we were set up! I'd never do something like this at your banquet!" He clung to the excuse of being framed-it was his only way out.

But Colin remained silent, his gaze cold and unforgiving.

Jennifer, finally snapping out of her shock, realized what had happened. Her own parents-caught in the act. Rage boiled within her. She thought, I had worked so hard to earn Mr. Way's trust, only for this scandal to unravel everything! "Dad" Jennifer hissed through clenched teeth. "You say you were framed? By who, exactly?"
