Chapter 221

Easton paused for a moment but said nothing else. He used to be eager to get divorced because he wanted to marry Jennifer.

From childhood to adulthood, he was used to having Jennifer by his side, relying on him. Even when a cockroach scared her to tears, she needed his comfort. But Natalie was different. She didn't need him for anything; she was always strong.

When bullied, she would grit her teeth and endure it. Even if left on the road in the snow, she wouldn't complain about being wronged.

However, he thought, 'But just because she doesn't say she's in pain, does it mean she don't hurt?'

It wasn't until Natalie confronted him with his wrongdoings that he realized she was hurting too. She just didn't want to complain when he was busy. Unlike Jennifer, who, even when upset, would call him over no matter how busy he was.

Easton drank heavily in silence, while Wesley gave him a knowing look. "Easton, don't tell me you're the type of guy who only realizes they value something after it's gone, are you?" Easton spoke indifferently, "Maybe. When I had my accident, Jennifer left. You even said she intentionally walked away, just because I was disabled and she didn't want to care for me. But then I thought, even with my disability, I didn't need her help. She said my mom drove her away, but later I realized I was the naive one.

"During those two years, Natalie took care of me attentively. I wasn't in a good mood, so I wasn't very nice to her either..."

Easton didn't continue, but after Natalie left, her good nature became very clear.

Natalie's influence on him was so deep that he thought of Natalie with everything he did, especially when his stomach hurt.

Before, whenever he felt stomach pain, Natalie would tell him not to drink, to take care of himself, and often come home for meals. She'd make simple dishes that tasted amazing to him. Looking at Natalie like that, he always felt she was just a homemaker.

He was born into a rich family, with pride ingrained in him. At that time, he believed that Natalie, from an impoverished village, couldn't compare to Jennifer, who was outstanding in everything.

But because she was from a poor village, he overlooked so much about her, thinking Natalie, who seemed incapable, wouldn't leave him.

He was wrong; he was the one who couldn't let go, and he missed the warmth of having Natalie at home.

Natalie knew medicine and design, and after leaving him, everything she did impressed him.

Even what she said tonight left him uneasy-Natalie really wasn't coming back.

Easton closed his eyes, showing clear tiredness on his face, his brows deeply furrowed.

Wesley looked at his friend in pain and chuckled softly. "Easton, you don't have to be so sad. Life messes with us, and a broken heart can't be put back together, especially when you joined forces with the Simpson family to hurt her. "What you hate the most is knowing it was Jennifer who caused it all, yet you still hurt Natalie. She took care of you tirelessl for two years; she might have loved you forever, but hearts are fragile and they do hurt.

Chapter 221

I've noticed that since she left you, she's had a few attractive guy around her. It's been nearly half a year since she moved on. Maybe she's found someone new to fill her desolate heart." Hearing this, Easton quickly opened his deep eyes wide; he thought of Maurice, a man who was equally matched with him.

But he hadn't secured his position yet in the Chambers family. His mind was a bit empty, worried that Natalie might fall for someone else. He pressed his lips together, saying nothing, his rood sour Wesley looked at him with sympathy; ultimately, he was alone.

Jennifer's presence was merely a way to access the Garcia family's resources. But Nick was a fool, completely hopeless in business.

Wesley looked at Easton, asking with a deep question, "Easton, since you're here to see me, let's talk. What do you like about Jennifer?"

Easton was taken aback. He thought, 'What do I like about Jennifer?

He shook his head. "Being with Jennifer is a hassle. She's always making promises, always dragging me away. But before Natalie revealed those truths, it was her sincerity that I admired.

"But even her supposed purity was just an act, with Natalie playing alongside her. One plays the villain while the other seem pure. Natalie exists just to make her so-called purity stand out." Wesley interjected, smiling. Easton showed no emotion. Night after night, he thought about this, but never reached a conclusion.

Maybe he once cared for Jennifer, which was why he felt he had to fulfill her every demand. Thinking back, he didn't know what Jennifer really want.

Easton realized it at last, his long-standing emotions shattering, leaving his eyes filled with sadness.

Jennifer, who he thought was genuine, actually had another agenda. Natalie was sincere with him, but he never noticed.

Easton finally made sense of it all. After thanking Wesley, he left.

Wesley shook his head. He thought, 'Matters of the heart can't be predicted. After going through ups and downs and all sort of challenges, people might still not end up together.'

Vance didn't go back. He stayed in the car, thought it over, and decided to call Tiana.

Tiana was exhausted from leading her team in a competition these days. Waking up to her phone ringing in the middle of the night, she assumed it must be something urgent from the team. Seeing it was Vance's number, she got even more annoyed at being woken up. With the strong wind on the island, it was hard to fall asleep at night.

She answered the phone and shouted, "Vance, are you out of your mind? Calling me in the middle of the night and waking me up? Do you know how hard it is to get any sleep here?" Vance was taken aback; Tiana rarely spoke to him like this.

His expression turned a bit indifferent. "Tiana, I didn't mean to wake you up. I'm getting married soon, and I want to know are you coming or not?"

Tiana said, "I'm not coming. Why would a woman who's been married three times want to go to a wedding? You're dreaming. You ruined my sleep. I just had a dream about kissing a handsome guy, and your call just ruined it. Get lost!"

Chapter 921

With that, Tiana hung up the phone.

Vance was speechless.

Awakened, Tiana lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. She hated the culprit who had disturbed her sleep.

Thinking about her years chasing after Vance, she regretted it so much she wanted to slap herself.

They had sat together since first grade, and continued to in middle and high school, even going to the same university. It was so coincidental that she started to believe in fate.

But a couple of years ago, suddenly, there was a girl named Khloe around him. Khloe knew she was interested in Vance and kept scheming against her.

Yet Vance always sided with Khloe, making Tiana apologize even for minor things.

He would always say that Khloe was pitiful and came from a well-off family, so Tiana should give in to her.

She was shocked when she heard this. She thought, 'Does having a wealthy family mean I should tolerate a girl who constantly bullies me?'

Tiana thought of this, and she was so angry her chest felt tight, and she shouted into the night sky, "Forget this crappy romance! Can't I just be fabulous on my own?"
