Chapter 304

Oliver looked equally baffled as he stared at the furious Jennifer unable to replace the words to respond.

Jennifer glared at him, her eyes reddened with frustration, her voice sharp. "Oliver, say something! Didn't you tell me you had everything under control?

Jennifer felt like she was on the verge of a breakdown. Why had all her carefully laid plans been failing one after another?

Oliver lowered his head, guilt written all over his face. He spoke in a low voice, "Ms Simpson, I really did make all the arrangements.

"Could it be that Murray somehow found out he was going to be reported? Maybe that's why he switched the suppliers for the materials."

"That's impossible! This was done in complete secrecy. How could he possibly know?" Jennifer snapped, unwilling to believe that Murray could have foreseen this. She had only made the arrangements last night.

Not even Everett knew about her plan to strike today. How could Davian have caught wind of it?

Oliver dropped his gaze, thinking hard, trying to pinpoint where things had gone wrong.

Yet no matter how he analyzed it, every step of the plan had be handled discreetly. There was no way there could have been a leak.

And yet, Murray, a brash and arrogant playboy, had proven to be incredibly difficult to deal with.

"Ms. Simpson, let me contact Everlast Construction's Mr. Garcia Oliver suggested, his voice tinged with hesitation.

Jennifer raised her hand to stop him. Her expression was icy, her eyes sharp with calculation. "Hold off. We can't alert anyone or risk drawing attention to ourselves."

"If the Spencer family is being investigated, there will already be eyes on Everlast Construction. Let's wait. Everett should ve picked up his son by now. Once he has, we'll question him and figure out what went wrong."

"But Ms. Simpson, we've also invested in Everett's development project. If this blows up, it's possible all of our investments will go up in smoke," Oliver said, his tone grave.

She got backfired.

Karma

hit way

too fast.

Jennifer froze, the realization hitting her hard. She had nearly forgotten that detail.

No. She couldn't let this spiral out of control.

"The 70 million dollars for Wendy... don't transfer it yet. We need to secure our liquillity," Jennifer ordered decisively. Oliver hesitated before speaking, his voice tight, "Ms. Simpson, that money was already wired to her earlier today." "What?" Jennifer's eyes turned icy and fierce. Then she remembered. She had been in a good mood earlier and had instructed Oliver to send the money to Wendy, hoping to keep her quiet and protect her own reputation.

But now, Jennifer felt the weight of her decision. Secretly transferring 70 million dollars from the company's accounts was a risky move. If Wendy decided to retaliate and take legal action against her, Jennifer could face devastating consequences.

Chapter 301

After all, Wendy wasn't her biological mother. If Wendy's company went under, this shady transfer would undoubtedly be exposed during an investigation. "Humpl

It's only 70 million dollars, and Wendy still had the nerve to press me so hard, Jennifer spat, seething with anger.

But what infuriated her even more was today's failure. She couldn't replace a single excuse to justify why her plan had gone

awry

Her icy gaze fixed on the laptop screen, her voice hoarse. 'Oliver, tell Lucy and the others to proceed with acquiring Wendy's company

She wouldn't let Wendy walk away unscathed.

Jennifer's expression darkened further, her voice filled with venom. "And Natalie... I want her to spend her whole life in misery. No one to care for her, no one to love her."

Oliver furrowed his brow slightly. A cold glint flashed in his eyes as he nodded. "Ms. Simpson, Lucy and the team are continuing negotiations today for the acquisition. I'll go investigate what's going on with Murray and get to the bottom of this.

"Fine. Make sure everything is clear so we can put our minds at ease."

Jennifer waved him off tiredly.

Sinking into the sofa, she looked uncharacteristically disheveled. The once-proud and aloof Jennifer seemed to have lost some of her edge.

Ever since Natalie had woken up at her banquet, everything had started to go wrong.

Things that used to go smoothly for her were now unraveling at every turn.

Easton was always just a beckoning finger away, ready to drop everything and rush to her side.

But that scumbag had cut her off, pulling the 1.5 million dollars funding he had promised.

It was like losing her lifeline. With no other choice, she had to resort to acting to make money.

Meanwhile, Natalie had agreed to mediation, taking a settlement before letting Davian off the hook. As for the assault on an officer, Natalie wasn't sure how Maxwell had managed to handle that one. When the scandal about Maxwell's real estate project broke out, Davian had just been released from the police station. After a few days in custody, Davian didn't look too bad aside from his disheveled hair. He was even in decent spirits

But the moment his eyes locked onto Natalie, they burned with a ferocity so intense it was almost predatory. Unbothered, Natalie met his gaze and gave him a faint, chilling smile. "Mr. Spencer, judging by your look, I'd think you were ready to devour me whole." Davian trembled with rage, his glare sharp enough to cut through steel. His entire body radiated unrestrained fury "Natalie, just you wait. I will end you, he hissed, the corners of his lips curling into a cruel, bloodthirsty smile. Natalie responded with an equally cold and merciless smirk.

These minor offenses might only earn him short stints behind rs, but bigger mistakes could cost him a lifetime.

Arrogance, after all, often leads to self-destruction.

"Mr. Spencer," Natalie said, her voice eerily steady, every word distinct and hauntingly quiet, "welcome to the game."

If he didn't play along, the show wouldn't be nearly as entertaining.

Her words carried a chilling edge, and the icy aura radiating from her made Davian stiffen. He could feel it. The unmistakable presence of bloodlust..

"Davian, you seem to enjoy being used as a pawn. I hope next time you'll be a better one," Natalie said, her smile playful yet detached, her voice light but laced with an underlying frost.

Her faint smile brought an almost ethereal vibrancy to her features, making her radiant and captivating.

Davian froze. What did she mean by that?

Maxwell, too, was stunned. His gaze toward Natalie now carried a trace of wariness.

"Natalie, what do you mean by that? Are you saying my son has been used as a pawn?" Maxwell's tone turned somber as his sharp eyes swept over his impulsive son. There was a hint of helplessness in his expression.

He had spent 3 million dollars just to get Natalie to agree to the mediation.

To make matters worse, Maxwell himself had been outmaneuvered by Murray.

That plot of land in the western suburbs. Maxwell had initially acquired it on Murray's suggestion, and the paperwork had deliberately been done under his own name.

What a despicable move, he wondered. Maxwell seethed at the memory of Murray's cunning, wishing that the overseas accident had finished him off for good.

Natalie caught the flash of murderous intent in Maxwell's eyes and furrowed her brows slightly.

Everett and his family were truly rotten to the core.

"Mr. Spencer," Natalie said with a sly smile, her tone teasing yet sharp, "you might want to worry about your real estate project instead. The materials used in your construction were found to be non-compliant, and now the media has already exposed the issue." Her mischievous grin, paired with the arch of her brows, carried an air of wickedness, leaving Maxwell visibly shaken. "What's going on?" he stammered, panic creeping into his voice.

"Mr. Garcia, bad news! Someone reported the Spencer Group for using non-compliant materials. Those materials were all stockpiled at Mr. Garcia's new construction site," Maxwell's assistant said as he rushed over.

"They've all been seized. Construction has been halted for inspection.

Maxwell's eyes widened in disbelief. This couldn't be happening. Not to him.

No, he must be so angry at Davian that he was hallucinating. His company couldn't possibly be in trouble.

After all, he'd triumphed over Murray time and again over the years. Defeat simply wasn't an option for him

Looking at his assistant's frantic expression, Maxwell snapped, his voice cracking with urgency. "This... this can't be right. It's supposed to be Murray's project under fire. How could it be my development?" Tue, Chapter 305
