Chapter 52

Chapter 52 Class Reunion

Karen ground her teeth and said with hatred, “Fine. I will transfer it to you when I get back.”

“Do it now.”

“You…”

“Hurry up. Don’t waste my time,” Anaya said after telling Karen her card number.

Karen took her phone out. She was so angry that her hands that were making the transactiontrembled.

The money was transferred. Karen gritted her teeth and said, “Can I go now?”

“Yes. And drive your car away. This is our spot.”

Karen became even angrier, looking like she was about to eat Anaya alive. After a long while, she saidthrough gritted teeth, “Fine!”

“Thank you, Ms. Birken.” Anaya stood up straight and smiled brightly.

Anaya opened the door and got into the car. After Karen left, Aracely parked the car.

After that, Aracely hugged and praised Anaya, asking, “Why haven’t I heard of the law youmentioned?”

“I made that up. She was so gullible,” Anaya said with a sly smile.

“Tsk! Anaya, you are so bad,” Aracely said. Then she also smiled, “Karen was stupid enough when wewere back in school. And now she’s more stupid. Has she degenerated into an ape? How could she

believe that? Damn. That’s so ridiculous.”

“Let’s go upstairs.”

“OK!”

By the time Anaya and Aracely arrived at the scene, there were already a lot of people present.

Those familiar with each other gathered and formed a few small groups.

As soon as Anaya and Aracely entered the door, they were pulled over by a woman and stood withseveral old friends.

The woman asked Anaya, “Aren’t you married to Joshua? Why isn’t he here?”

The woman did not mean any harm.

The divorce of Anaya and Joshua only lasted less than ten minutes on the list of trending topics, andmost of the ordinary people present did not know about that.

Anaya was about to explain when Joshua came in with Lexie at the door.

“Anaya, why is Joshua holding Lexie’s hand? Since when did having an affair become such a blatantthing?” The woman who asked the question was angry on Anaya’s behalf.

Anaya’s voice was calm. “He doesn’t have an affair. We had a divorce not long ago.”

Meanwhile, Joshua happened to pass by her with Lexie by hand. For some reason, he felt that theword “divorce” coming from her mouth was a bit harsh.

Lexie also heard Anaya’s words, and the corners of her lips curled up into a smile.

Lexie was all dolled up today. She entered the room while holding Joshua’s hand on purpose since shewanted

everyone, especially those who weren’t aware, to know that Anaya had already become Joshua’s ex–wife. The person standing next to Joshua was her, Lexie.

Anaya told others the truth straightforwardly, which saved her trouble.

Joshua intended to ignore Anaya and walk past her, but Lexie stopped and greeted Anaya.

“Anaya, I am glad that you show up. I was worried that you might have been too embarrassed to comehere because of

me and Joshua…”

Anaya smiled gracefully and said, “I’m not the mistress or the one who cheated. Why should I beembarrassed?”

The smile on Lexie’s face froze, and Joshua, who was at the side, pulled a long face. “Do you have tobe so sarcastic?”

“I’m just stating a fact. Mr. Maltz, why are you so angry?”

Joshua was a little furious. However, there were many people present, so he did not argue with Anaya. He pulled Lexie

away.

Aracely held Anaya’s hand and said angrily, “Anaya, Lexie is here to show off today! It’s just a classreunion, yet she’s dressed so grandly. I would have thought that she was some celebrity who wasgoing to walk the red carpet if I didn’t

know better!”

Then she suddenly said, “But Anaya, you are still the most beautiful one.”

Anaya pinched Aracely’s face. “What a sweet–talker.”

The news of Anaya and Joshua’s divorce caused a small uproar. The people present suddenly becamevery gossipy,

picturing the love triangle fermenting in the rich families in their minds.

But divorce was not something to be happy about, after all. They were considerate enough not to askany further. Instead, they made some jokes, lightened the mood, and let the topic slide.

On Joshua’s side, people were chatting as well, and the atmosphere was quite lively.

There was a white piano in the hall, and someone urged Lexie to go up to perform.

Lexie was a member of the music club back in high school, and she had passed the highest level ofpiano playing. She was the piano princess of the school.

Lexie revealed a shy smile and said modestly, “I haven’t played for many years. I might not play well. I’llpass.”

“That’s impossible! You are as great as a professional! I still remember how amazing your stageperformance was

back then!”

“I heard from a friend that you went to your friend’s music classroom not long ago to teach studentshow to play the piano. Many parents praised you.”

“Don’t be modest, Lexie. Play a song for us.”

“Come on!”

More people echoed. Lexie maintained a smile on her face. She glanced at Anaya meaningfully andsuddenly made Anaya become the limelight.

“I went to the Maltz’s place today and saw a piano in the villa, which must have been used by Anayabefore. If she has been practicing, she should be better than me. Maybe she can play a song for us.”

Lexie deliberately raised her voice so that everyone could hear her.

Anaya smiled. Her teeth looked even whiter against hier rosy lips. Her voice sounded lazy as she said,“Ms. Dunbar, are you deliberately provoking me? You should know who used that piano better thanme.”

Lexie used to like playing the piano, and she kept the hobby after she entered university. She oftenwent to the music classroom.

The piano in the Maltz‘s villa was the one Lexie often used in the music classroom.

The piano belonged to the school. At first, the people from the school refused to sell it. Joshua doubledthe price twenty times, and the department head asked someone to send the piano to the Maltz‘s villaright away.

Ever since Lexie went abroad three years ago, Joshua often sat down at the piano alone and playedslowly, though he was not proficient in music, and what he played was simply crap.

Anaya had known the significance of that piano since a long time ago. Every time she saw that piano, she would realize that the man she loved had been thinking about another woman.

The crap that Joshua played made her and her feelings for him look like a joke.

Now that Anaya thought about it, she was only amused.

Anaya thought, Joshua was married to me, yet he was still cheeky and narcissistic enough to sit by thepiano and play a few songs, recalling the romantic times he and Lexie used to share. He wasdeliberately making me sick!

I can‘t believe that in my previous life, I endured him for three years.

I praise myself.

Lexie played dumb. “I don‘t know. Joshua didn‘t tell me where the piano came from.”

As she spoke, she deliberately turned her head to ask Joshua, “Joshua, did you buy that piano forAnaya?”

Joshua pursed his lips and looked down at Lexie.

He thought, she forgot the piano she had used for two years?

He couldn‘t tell if she was acting or not. He suppressed the weird feelings in his heart and replied, “Itwas the one you used in college.”

Lexie covered her mouth in disbelief. She was both surprised and touched. She controlled herexpression perfectly. “Really? You have been keeping it for me?”

“Yes.”
