Chapter 1536

"I seized this mansion and the Kooper family's fortune out of bitter envy, but you're different. You've been my hidden obsession since we were young."

Desperate, he begged, "Stay with me, won't you?"

He grasped her like a drowning man clinging to a lifeline.

Overwhelmed with sadness, Kisa closed her eyes.

Taking a deep breath, she gently pried his hand away.

"I'm sorry."

As she retreated inside, Jensen laughed bitterly.

Turning to David, paralyzed in his wheelchair, he taunted.

"See? In the end, it's just us two pathetic souls left. Emilia loved Damon, and now she loves Gilbert. We are nothing. Nothing at all."

Tears streamed down David's face as he stared at Jensen.

It was unclear if they were tears of sadness or regret.

After searching the mansion for two days, Kisa found her mother's diary.

Jensen had hidden it, likely to prevent David from discovering her mother's true feelings.

But Kisa believed David deserved to know her mother had loved him until her dying breath.

One beautiful day, when David sat outside, soaking up the sun, Kisa approached him, clutching her mother's diary and a photo album.

"If I had known it was you, David, I would've talked about my mom sooner," Kisa said, waving the items.

"Look, I found her diary and this photo album."

Unable to move or speak, David's eyes remained locked on the items in her grasp.

Sensing his eagerness to learn about her mother, she sat beside him, laying the photo album on his lap. "Here are pictures of you and my mom, and Gilbert's parents.Look, you all seemed so happy back then."

As she spoke, she slowly flipped through the album.

Suddenly, a hot, wet tear fell onto her hand.

Glancing up, she saw David's tear- streaked face.

His trembling lips betrayed his desire to speak.

Finally, he whispered a name: Emilia-Kisa's mother.

He must have loved her deeply.

Kisa decided he needed to know her mother's true feelings, so she spread the diary across his lap, turning each page with care.

Upon reaching the last page, filled with her mother's despair and helplessness, David burst into tears.

His sobs caught Jensen and the servants' attention.

Jensen eyed the diary in Kisa's hands and instantly understood.

Smirking, he said, "Only matters concerning that woman can affect him like this."

The diary's revelations unlocked David's voice.

But he spoke to no one, simply murmuring Emilia's name repeatedly.

That night, a servant found David's room empty.

The entire mansion lit up as Jensen and the servants frantically searched.

Kisa discovered David on the rooftop, still in his wheelchair.

The wind whipped around them, chilling the air.

David gazed at the dark sky, lost in thought.

Kisa approached and gripped the wheelchair's handles.

"It's cold up here; let's go downstairs."

She did not know how David had reached the rooftop and did not question it.

Unexpectedly, David patted her hand.

"Kisa, sit down and talk with me for a while."
