REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON -
Chapter 18: Unseen Refuge
Aria pov.
"Okay. Enough with the sad face. Get up. "I said to Kyle who sat across me talking about his life with his life in it.
"Where are we going?" He asked all confused.
"We're going to have some fun."I said.
"I'm not in the mood. "he muttered.
"You can't just sit here sulking about your father who doesn't care about you."I said and his facial expression changed.
"sorry, I didn't mean it that way. But he's out there not worrying about anything while you're here just... you know what I mean. Just get up."I said pulling him up.
"I don't really feel like going anywhere. And I don't think a drink is going to help me either. "he muttered.
"Sitting here is not going to help you either. I say we go for a drink. What do you say?"
Kyle raised his eyebrows. "What's so special about having a drink anyways? I drink sometimes and I don't see anything difference."
He was right, other drinks would not do a thing. But I had something instored for him. "Trust me. It's something you've never had before."
"It's not back In the territory, right?" he asked.
"Why would I take you there? People in the territory may spare you but not those beyond.
We're going into town."
I explained.
I was kind of nervous going into town but Aria assured me that I wouldn't be recognized by those who would want to cause harm to me. I was relieved.
"I don't think that's a good idea. Remember, my dad is after you."
"Have you forgotten I have a witch as a friend. You don't have to worry. All you need to know is that you are safe."
I said smiling.
"I wasn't worried."
He mumbled.
"Sure, you weren't. "I said walking out.
"I can here the sacarsm in your voice."
He responded while following me.
"You were meant to hear it."
I left Kyle outside the bayou and into town. Tennessee wasn't like other city. It was wide and broad. There were places people hadn't discovered. "What is this place?"Kyle asked looking around in wonder.
"Welcome to Moonlit Tarven."I said.
I never imagined I would see this place again. This was where I came when I was sad and I felt helpless in the past.
As the Rouge and Moonlit pack never got along, we had our separate space. Everywhere else was taking away when I lost my father but made sure this was never seen.
I got a witch to cloak it and it could only be seen when I was there. Anything was possible If you had a witch.
"I remember coming here before and I think it's the best place for you. And tonight, I've got a special treat for you."
I reached for a hole in search of something hoping it was still there. I smiled when I felt it.
"This,"I said handing a bottle to Kyle, "Moonbeam bourbon."I said smiling.
He scoffed. "You mean regular bourbon with some fancy name."
"No It's not regular bourbon. We just couldn't come up with the right name. "I explained.
"What do you mean we?" he asked.
Kyle didn't know yet that I was part of the Moonlit pack his father slaughter and I wanted to keep It that way.
"Did I say we? I meant they. "I covered up.
"How come I have never heard of this place before?" he asked.
"Kyle, we came here for a purpose. To have fun. So quit getting distracted. "I said trying as much as possible to keep him from thinking.
Bringing him here might have been a bad idea seeing as he wouldn't be able to see It another day. I just wanted to cheer him up.
"This isn't like regular bourbon. It is made from a blend or rare herbs and a touch of magic.
Perfect for lifting the heaviest of hearts."
He accepted the bottle and I was relieved he did not ask anymore questions. "Sound fancy." He said.
"Just wait till you taste it. "I said with a smile.
While cloaking, I made sure the witch preserved everything so it would look the same when someone came back. That was my last wish before I died.
We were outside. Inside was kind of a local restaurant but it was mainly my dad's but others from the pack were also invited.
I kept the whole place hidden because it was the last thing I had of my dad. And this was an opportunity to see it.
I went in and got a glass and came back out. We poured the drink in a glass and clicked our glasses together.
We took a sip. It still tasted the same. It was cool and refreshing with a hint of sweetness. It made you feel warm, like you had nothing to worry about in the world. "Wow, "Kyle said with a smile. "This is amazing. "he said taking another sip.
"Told you,"I said. "Sometimes all you really need is a little magic to see things in a new light."
I recalled my dad saying that to me the first time I had this. I fought hard for a tear not to drop so Kyle would see it and begin to ask questions, which I wouldn't have the answers to.
We spent the next hour talking and laughing. I knew we were both going to regret this tomorrow. No matter the magic in this, it was still alcohol. We were looking forward to a headache.
I saw how Kyle looked relaxed. And for the first time since I had known him, he looked like he could breathe again.
"Thanks Lyla. "he said. "I really needed this."
"Anytime Kyle. Just remember you're not alone and you have people who care about you. You'll get through this."
We sat for about thirty minutes under the glowing lathern. I enjoyed the soothing sound of the blowing wind. It seemed like the old times.
"Okay. We gotta go. Aria must be worried about me. "I said standing up.
"Noo. Just a few minutes. "he pleaded.
"Remember you didn't want to be here before. So no. "I responded.
"I didn't know it was this chilling. "he begged.
"No Kyle. We have to go. "I couldn't live him here.
If I left first, he wouldn't see the building. And he would replace out.
"Fine, I'll go. "he said turning to go.
Then he stopped and turned around. "Thank you, Aria. "he said
I smiled. "You're welcome."
"Don't think I'll go easy on you in training because of this. "he said and left.
He always liked having the last word. "I wouldn't want that to." I said to myself.
