Reckless Regrets -
Chapter 76
Morgan
After the appointment with the doctor, Kade left to have his meeting with Henry, and I went to replace the girls to share the good news. As had become our habit, I found Alaia, Taylor, and Aires in the playroom while all the kids ran around like wild banshees. Cameron, being the oldest, was off on his own coloring a picture, Alex was having a temper tantrum that was being ignored, Genesis and Xayden were holding hands and dancing to some rhythmic song blaring from the TV, and Angelica, Julian, Jaden, and Isabella were all, somehow, asleep. There were so many children; it was usually a madhouse in here.
“Hey momma, where have you been? You disappeared after breakfast, and I’ve been looking for you,” Taylor looked up and stated.
“Kade and I just left the ultrasound; it was moved up to today since Dr. Bennett has to leave town.”
“How was it? Did you get to see the s*x? I hope it’s a girl; we already have five little boys,” Aires said.
“Vanessa Faith Thomas; she’s got ten perfect little fingers and toes, and has already stolen her daddy’s heart,” I replied.
“Ahh!! I love it! A little girl and her name is so beautiful and perfect! What did Kade say, did he love it too?” Taylor chirped.
I took a seat in the vacant glider and kicked off my shoes. “He was over the moon and seemed surprised by the name choice, but what else could we name her? It took a strong woman to give birth to and raise that husband of mine, and I want my daughter to follow in her footsteps.”
“That’s so sweet, Morgan, and I’m so happy for the two of you. One of each. Do you think you’ll stop with just two or have more? Alaia asked.
“I don’t know yet. We’re just getting used to Cameron, and soon we’ll have Vanessa to look after too, so I guess I’ll just have to see how it goes. But if we keep having kids, we’re going to need an entire floor instead of just one room for them to play in,” I joked.
“Well, someone had better start remodeling. Henry and I found out last night that we’re pregnant with number two,” Aires casually stated.
“Holy crap! You’re pregnant? Me too!” Taylor squeaked. Alaia jumped up from her chair and spun around, staring the three of us in the eye.
“Wait one damn minute here! All three of you are pregnant? What, was it some kind of pregnancy pact that no one told me about? What the hell?!” she yelled.
“Hey, I’m just as surprised as you are. Would you two like to explain?” I asked.
“It’s simple, chica. Mi Amor and I like to have s*x, lots of it, and we don’t use protection-”
“Stop! We don’t need the ‘Birds and the Bees’ talk; all of us clearly know how making a baby works. Did you guys plan for another?” I asked.
“No, but we didn’t try to prevent one either. We love our life, and our daughter, and felt that if we were blessed with a larger family, then it’s what’s meant to be, if not, we would be perfectly happy with Issy,” Aires replied.
“And what about you, Tay? I thought you were getting ready to start another round of heat, and now you’re pregnant. What’s up with that?” I inquired.
“I thought it was heat; you know the crazy emotional roller coaster I’ve been on lately. Since I’d never been like that before, Matt and Tyson figured that it must have been something else. I took a test this morning, and it came out positive.”
“Bitches. I’ve never felt so betrayed and left out in my life,” Alaia scowled at us and muttered.
“You’ve got two delicious husbands; you can easily hump and join the club if you’re so hurt about it. Didn’t you say that Alexi wanted more kids?” Taylor asked.
“He does. And he’s been bringing it up more and more too. Maybe it’s time to have a talk and see if we’re ready to make that move or not,” Alaia replied.
I looked out over the babies and was struck with a thought that made me almost fold over with laughter. “Tay! You already have three, and you’re pregnant again. What if you have another set of twins? That would be five, and over your ‘max’ amount,” I giggled.
Taylor rolled her eyes at me and frowned. “I had that idea of the ‘perfect sized’ family before I had two perfect husbands. They take great care of the kids now, and I don’t see anything changing once we add this one to the brood. So, if it’s one or three, I won’t mind. Both Matt and Tyson want big families, and I see now that I want whatever makes them happy,” she replied.
“Aye, Dios mio! Three? Oh no, that’s too many at one time. My poor sweet vajayjay couldn’t handle that much abuse,” Aires comically stated.
“I take it you’ll no longer be training the pack?” Alaia asked.
“No. I love to train, but Henry barely tolerates me getting hit when I’m not pregnant; he’d have a heart attack if I were to try and train or spar right now. It’s the only thing he’s ever asked me to do for him; everything else is 100% all about my happiness. Plus, this is his child too, so I don’t mind sitting out a few months to make sure the little one and I have a healthy pregnancy.”
“You two are so cute together, I absolutely love you guys as a couple,” I gushed.
“Aye, were just two people in love. Don’t make it weird, tiny oso.”
I had to laugh when I heard what she’d called me. “Tiny oso? Why do I have to be tiny? You don’t call Tyson ‘tiny’.”
“Of course not, the man is huge. But you’re not. Your bear isn’t fully grown yet, you’ll need at least two hibernation cycles before it is, and until then, you’re tiny oso.”
“Do you ever shift into your bear? I’ve never seen or even heard about it,” Alaia said.
“My vampire genes are dominant, so I just have the strength, size, and senses from my mother’s side of the family. No shifting into bear form,” she replied.
“You don’t need to shift; you’re perfectly kick-a*s the way you are,” Alaia replied. We spent about an hour or so talking and laughing before all of the kids were ready for naps, and it was time to take a break. We, along with the help of the nannies, took our little ones to their rooms, and I silently watched Cameron’s sweet face. After a few minutes, I felt like a major creep, so I left him in peace, but I was so in love.

“Wake up Sugar Bear, I’ve got news to share,” Kade whispered in my ear. I didn’t know when I’d made my way to the room and passed out, but I was lying in the middle of our bed, stripped down to my underwear, and having one of the best naps in the history of time. This news Kade had had better be epic, or it was on.
“You look really excited, so I’m guessing the news is juicy. Hit me with it,” I said as a huge yawn escaped my lips.
“Guess who’s knocked up.”
“Aires and Taylor; what else have you got?” I asked.
He frowned then immediately replaced the frown with a huge smile. “I didn’t know about Taylor! Henry just told me about Aires at our meeting. Wait, why haven’t Matt or Tyson said anything to me yet?”
“They just took the test this morning, babe. I’m sure they’ll tell you the next time they see you,” I replied.
He still looked a little hurt, he loved babies more than any man I’d ever known, and I made a mental note to have Tyson share the news with Kade ASAP. After a few seconds, he seemed to get over himself and smiled again. “I’ve got something even better to tell you. It’s major,” he stated. Kade looked like he would explode, trying to hold this news in, and his excitement began to rub off on me.
“Oh, my God. Now you’ve got my attention, and I really need to know what’s up. Tell me now!” I demanded.
“I need k****s first, then maybe I could be persuaded to share what I know,” he replied with a smirk. I grabbed his ears and pulled him towards me, biting his l*p then shoving my tongue down his throat. Kade wasn’t expecting anything like that, and I couldn’t help by laugh into his mouth at the up-close shocked expression I saw on his face.
“You’re a crazy woman, I swear. But it’s just how I like you. Anyway, Xander gave us his wedding gift, and it comes in two parts,” Kade stated. He held out two envelopes, one blue and one red, and it felt like some weird scene from The Matrix.
Never one to practice patience, I grabbed the blue envelope and ripped it open, pulling out the papers inside. There were documents for À la Carte Pastry and Baking classes in Paris, an adorable pied-à-terre overlooking the Tuileries Garden, and round trip flights in the private jet. “He’s sending us to Paris? Are you serious right now?” I asked in total awe.
“Not really, Xander is just supplying the plane; the rest was all me. Do you like it? I figured I’d take you on a surprise honeymoon since we didn’t get to plan anything out,” Kade replied.
“I love it. I’ve always wanted to go to Paris. And you knew not to book a hotel. This little apartment is adorable; it’s so perfect. And French baking classes?! Holy smokes, that’s insane!! I can’t believe this, when do we leave, how long, oh my God, I need to pack!”
I threw the covers off and ran to the closet with the sound of Kade laughing behind me. He had no idea how psyched I was, well maybe he did, which was why he picked Paris and everything else in the first place. This was a dream come true, and my heart was beating like crazy.
“Come back, baby, we don’t leave until Saturday, so you have plenty of time to pack!” he yelled out to me. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed that he wasn’t whisking me away that very moment, but at least this gave me time to put together the perfect outfits and make sure I didn’t leave anything behind. When I walked back into the room, Kade was waving the red envelope in front of his face. “One more surprise, Sugar.”
I took a tentative step forward and took the paper into my hands. I was still totally amped over the honeymoon; I hoped that this was a little more demure so that I wouldn’t pass the hell out. I slowly opened the envelope, which was much thicker than the one before, and pulled out a stack of papers covered in legal mumbo jumbo that I flat out did not understand. I saw my name, Morgan Thomas, and smiled at the first time seeing it on paper. Then I saw Kade’s name, then Cameron. Wait, what was this? I looked up and stared Kade in the eyes, too afraid to hope that I could be holding what I thought I was.
“It’s only temporary for right now, but Xander got the Elders to agree to give us custody of Cameron. He won’t go to an orphanage, and no one can take him from us. Our son will stay in our home until the adoption is finalized,” Kade said.
“He’s ours? Like for real, ours?”
“Right now, yes. And barring one of us losing our f*****g minds and going on a cross country killing spree, there’s nothing that will keep the adoption from being approved. We just have to be patient and let the case work its way through the system.”
“He’s ours,” I whispered while gently running my fingers over our names on the page. This was so much better than the honeymoon, but instead of ridiculous levels of excitement, I felt calm. I felt complete. I dropped the stack of papers on the bed as Kade pulled me to his chest in a tight hug.
“Thank you so much for this, I’ve never had someone work so hard to make me happy, and I’m so grateful,” I said.
“Anything for you, Sugar; your happiness is my happiness.”
And his was mine.
