Red Hot Love: The Morningstar Series: Book 5
Red Hot Love – Chapter 13

“You wanna hang out after school today?” Melia asked me as we sat down for history class.

I shook my head. “Busy.” I replied.

It’s been about a month since school started. Melia, and the rest of my few friends that know I met my mates, will not give me space. Everyday one of them is asking to hang out, and every day I tell them no.

Not that I win.

Everyone who doesn’t know I met my mates will also not leave me alone. It has been obvious that I’ve been different. I can’t even count how many times I have had to deny peoples advances. None of them are my mates, and I don’t want anyone who isn’t Ozzy or Olive.

Not only that, but I would never cheat on them. Even if they refuse to talk to me. They would feel it if I were with anyone, and I would never do that to them. Though, I was very thankful that I didn’t feel pain when they were together. Assuming they have been, which I’m sure they have.

How could they resist each other?

The teacher walked in shaking me from my thoughts. For a total of five minutes. School is impossible to focus on. Everything feels numb now. Sometimes I get spurts of anger, but that’s about it.

Two days after we realized that my mates were not coming to the school, Kee made me some medication. Mom and Dad thought it was best I take it until we can figure out what is going on with my mates.

They are little capsules filled with herbs. I have no idea what it actually contains, but it’s supposed to help with my depression. I guess it does. Though, it really just makes me feel nothing at all. It gets me through the day and that’s all that matters I guess.

I started to train again after school. When I was 14 I had stopped training with the rest of my family. I wanted to be a teacher, a history teacher, here. I love the history of the supernatural world. It’s so fasinating. So, I had stopped training every day, and instead only trained a few times a week.

Now is different though. I just wanted to feel something. With Ambrose taking over the BOC, that’s where I went to train. Ambrose has set up all kinds of sections for age groups. My siblings were forced to go, but for everyone else it was optional.

I pretty much only go to get my a*s kicked. I don’t even try. I’m not sure if I have some kind of a*s kicking kink or something, but I can’t stop. I need it. It’s the only time I feel… more.

When class was over I tried to quickly leave before Melia could press me more about hanging out. It’s not that I don’t love her, or want to be around her. It’s just… seeing her with her mate is too much. It’s all too much.

“Azai wait!” Melia shouted as she grabbed my arm. “My Gods, couldn’t you get away from me fast enough, geez.” She said.

I shrugged. “I told you I’m busy.” I said.

“Yeah, I know. I heard you, but we both know that’s a lie.” She said.

“I have training.” I told her.

Someone bumped into Melia nearly knocking her to the floor. It’s some big dude, probably a Werewolf. He didn’t even say sorry or acknowlegde her.

“Hey!” I shouted as I turned around.

The guy turned, and looked around before pointing to himself.

“You talking to me?” He asked.

“Yeah I’m f*****g talking to you. I think you owe my friend here an apology.” I said angrily.

The guys laughed.

“Your friend shouldn’t of been in the way.” He said.

Anger coursed through me.

“In the way? We aren’t even taking half the hall. Maybe you should learn some f*****g manners pup.”

The guys eyes flashed black. Yup, wolf. He stepped up to me.

“What the f**k did you just call me?” He seethed.

I stepped up to him ready for a fight, but Melia grabbed my arm.

“Don’t Azai, he isn’t worth it.” She said softly.

“Azai?” The guy asked, and then laughed. “You’re the Morningstar whose mates rejected you right?” More laughter. “Figures. I don’t blame them at all. Poor souls.”

I saw red. Nothing but red. My fist connected before I registered what I was doing. My vision is tunneled, and going in and out. I can barely hear other people shouting around us. I got the guy on the ground. I’m on top of him throwing blow after blow. This isn’t traning. He doesn’t stand a chance against me.

Suddenly I was pulled off.

“Azai calm down now.” That’s Max’s voice.

“What the f**k is going on?” Tia shouted.

I shrugged out of Max’s hold. Tia crossed her arms, and shook her head at me. Disappointment. That’s all I am to everyone.

“I can handle it here if you want to take him home.” Max suggested.

Tia nodded. “Come on.” She ordered me.

We left the school, and I was still fuming.

“I need to train.” I told her.

Tia shook her head. “No. No more training for you.” She told me.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because Azai, you are only doing it to hurt yourself. Ambrose is gone right now on a mission, and we are all sick of watching you purposely do this. So, you are going to sit in your f*****g room, and wait for Mom and Dad to call you.” She ordered.

I threw open the door of our house. f**k this s**t. This is f*****g stupid.

Walking in my home I smelled a few new scents, mixed with something else.

“Ugh, what is that smell?” I asked out loud.

Acaisia is here with a guy I haven’t seen before. Great, I bet he’s her mate. Everyone’s getting f*****g mated except me.

“Go to your room Azai.” Tia ordered me.

Grumbling under my breath I walked away. Once I got to my bedroom I punched a hole through my door. Sighing, I leaned my head against it. This is so f****d up. All of it. My life, myself. I just want the pain to go away. I just want to feel happy again.

I went and sat on my bed. Pulling out my phone I pulled up the texts that I have been sending to my mates. Goddess, I sound like such a f*****g stalker. I still couldn’t help it though. I’ve called, and texted them continuously. It was like I couldn’t help but hurt myself over and over.

f**k, I would rather be killed over and over again then go through this.

Tapping on my window got my attention. I got up, and walked over to it. Sliding the curtains back I saw Bexley’s bubbly face. I opened the window and the screen.

“What the hell are you doing? I’m on the second floor. How did you..?” I looked down to see her just dangling there.

“Nix is using air magic to hold me up.” She said.

I looked down to see Nix standing below. She waved up to me, and I waved back. Then I looked back at Bexley.

“What are you doing here?” I asked her.

Bexley wiggled her eyebrows. “Wanna get high?”

“High?” I asked.

Bexley nodded.

“Nix and I grew this strand together. It’s Friday. We figured, hey let’s go get the saddest guy we know, and see how he feels about our new shit.” She said in a teasing tone.

I rolled my eyes. Bexley and Nix have become my closest friends. They never pressured me to be happy like everyone else did. They simply just understood that I am the way I am right now. That was something I was forever thankful for. It was no wonder why Kee became best friends with them.

“Okay, but move over I have to jump out.” I said.

“J-jump out? You’ll break something.” Bexley said.

“Well get down there, and catch me.” I teased.

“C-catch you? My guy, who do I f*****g look like to you?” She asked with a forced laugh.

“I’ll catch you with my wind.” Nix said from the ground.

Bexley blew out a breath. “Oh thank the Goddess.”

*********************************************

A few minutes later, and we are deep in the woods. This is the spot we always come to. It’s far from the swimming hole, that my sisters think I don’t know about. It’s a small clearing with a field of wild flowers. I am laying on my back with Bex to my right and Nix to my left, passing a blunt back and forth.

“How are you guys able to grow pot here?” I asked them.

“Uh, hello, we are like the two most powerful creatures next to your family.” Bexley said.

Nix giggled. “We grow it in our room. Kee spells an area to not smell.” She told me.

“Wow.” Was all I managed. “How are you able to grow s**t that get’s us high though?” I asked.

Bex giggled. “Uh, we are just that badass I guess.” She said.

I turned my head to her. “Pft, everything you touch get’s us f****d up.” I said. “What’s your secret?” I accused.

Bexley giggled some more. “I have no idea.” She said.

I turned my eyes back to the sky. It’s a sunny day. White fluffy clouds are floating through the evening sky. All of them look like Ozzy and Olive. Even being stoned out of my mind, they never leave me.

“Well sad guy, how are you feeling?” Nix asked.

I turned, and looked into her golden, scarred eye. “So pretty.” I reached out, and trailed a finger down her scar. “If the people that did this to you were still alive, I would kill them.” I said.

Nix laughed. “I think that, like, a million people would have beaten you to that.” She said.

“Yeah, me included.” Bex said.

I turned to her. “I thought you did kill them?” I asked.

Bexley looked at Nix, and then to me. Then we all burst out in laughter. Gods, this was the best I’ve felt in months. The pain and hollowness is still there, but the fog in my brain is over running those emotions, numbing them.

“Soooo?” Nix pushed.

I sighed, and looked back at the sky. “I feel high if that’s what you want to know. So high that everything else is foggy. It’s making it hard to focus on the pain.” I told them.

“Good. At least we can give you an out that doesn’t involve hurting yourself like a total moron.” Bex said.

I turned to her. “You want me to spend my nights getting high instead of training?” I asked.

Bexley giggled. “I mean, yeah.”

“It’s what Kee does.” Nix said.

“She does?” I asked.

“Kee doesn’t want to hurt herself.” Bex said.

“I don’t want to hurt myself.” I said, and they both looked at me. “It’s just the only time I feel anything. Other than anger or sadness. The rest of the time I’m just.. hollow.” I said as I held my hand in the air and stared at it.

“Well, I can always kick your a*s if you want. Ya know, outside of when I do at training.” Bexley offered.

“Really? You’d do that for me?” I asked.

Bex giggled. “Of coursre I would. It would be my plessure to kick your a*s homie.” She said.

“Maybe don’t start with that Bex.” Nix said.

I laughed. “Bex.” My laughter continued. “Bex rhymes with s*x.” I said.

Bexley slowly clapped her hands together.

“Good job Azai, you know your words.” She said sarcastically.

I sputtered out some more laughter.

“I miss having s*x.” I said.

“So have s*x.” Bex suggested.

“Bexley.” Nix scolded him.

“What? His mates are being total f*****g asshats. I say do it. They hurt you all the time, and don’t even have the decency to tell you why. I say do what you want.” She said.

I sighed. “I can’t.” I said sadly. “They could do this to me for the rest of my life, and I would never cheat on them. I love them too much.”

Bexley clicked her tongue. “Well, how’s about that a*s kicking then?”

*********************************************

A few hours later, and I’m limping back home. Where did Bexley learn to fight like that? She’s f*****g stupid strong. Girl whipped my a*s. I guess she did say it was going to be an a*s kicking, but I didn’t think it’d be like that.

Has everyone I’ve been training with been going easy on me?

Bexley broke my left leg, right in the shin area. It healed, but not fast enough for me to not limp home. Since Ezra still isn’t with me, my healing as become much slower. Tia said similar things happened to her when she and Max were going through it. I’m not even sure if I should be worried about that or not.

Would I even ever see my mates again? Would Ezra be lost to me forever?

I walked through the front door, and immediately arms were wrapped around my middle. I winced at the pain it brought me. Bexley got me good. I think she f*****g broke a couple of my ribs.

“Where the hell have you been?” Belle asked.

Wow, I didn’t even realize it was her that hugged me.

“I was just hanging out with Bexley and Phoenix.” I told her as I unwrapped her arms and made my way to the kitchen.

“Where have you been? And why do you have a bloody l*p?” Tia asked as soon as I walked into the kitchen.

She, along with her mate, Belle, and Robby are all sitting at the table. I rolled my eyes, and walked over to the freezer. I started pulling out bags of frozen veggies, and putting them under my shirt and on my face.

f**k, that feels a bit better.

“Get into another fight?” Max asked.

“Yeah, one with a f*****g Demigod.” I muttered.

“Who?” Tia asked.

“We were just messing around. It’s not Bexley’s fault that she can kick my a*s.” I said.

I pulled out a frozen bag of pees, and held them to my jaw. f**k, when Bexley told me she was going to kick my a*s, this is not what I thought she meant. It was what I asked for though.

“Azai sit down.” Tia ordered me.

I g*****d. “I just want to go to sleep Ti-“

“You don’t sleep. Don’t start that s**t. Sit down.” She ordered again.

I rolled my eyes, and plopped into a seat. How does she even know I don’t sleep? She’s barely even here.

“Have you eaten Azai?” Belle asked. I nodded to her, even though it was a lie. “I’ll heat you up something anyways.” She said as she got up.

“Please don’t. I won’t eat it anyways.” I argued.

“You will. Even if I have to force every bite into your mouth.” She told me with a sweet smile.

I rolled my eyes. Never would I have thought that Belle feeding me would be such a pain. I wish they would all leave me alone.

“Azai, I talked with your teachers today.” Tia told me.

“Parent-teacher conferences already?” I asked snidely.

Max chuckled.

“No, they came to me because they are worried about you. You don’t pay attention in class, and you apparently don’t care about your grades anymore. You’re failing everything.” Tia told me.

I shrugged. “So.” I said.

What does it matter? My mates don’t want me. What kind of life can I have without them?

“So? So, what about college? I thought you wanted to be a teacher?” Tia asked me.

I shrugged, and leaned back in my chair. “Things change.” I said.

“You don’t want to be a teacher anymore?” Belle asked me.

I looked down at the table. “I don’t want to be anything anymore.” I stated sadly.

Tia sighed. “Azai, I talked to Olive and Ozzy’s parents today.” She told me.

I perked up instantly.

“You did? How are they? Is everything okay? They’re okay right? Happy?” I rushed out.

Tia nodded. “Yes Azai, they are fine.” She told me, and I blew out a breath.

“Good. That’s good.” I mumbled.

“Azai, I told their parents how things have been for you… I asked them if there was any way that we could get your mates here.” Tia told me.

“You did? What did they say? Are they coming here?” I asked.

Tia shook her head, and my body slumped. Of course they aren’t. That would be silly. My mates wanting me… silly…

“You are going to them.” She told me.

My head snapped up.

“What?” I asked.

“They refuse to come here. So, we are sending you there. You still have to go to school, and listen to them. Be good.” She told me.

I nodded. “I will. I will.” I said.

“Your grades have to improve, or I’m bringing you back.” Tia threatened.

“I will I swear.” I said, and Tia gave me a nod. “When do I leave? Tonight?” I asked.

Everyone chuckled at me.

“You leave Sunday morning.” She told me.

I smiled, and hopped up from my seat. “I’ll go pack.”

I pratically ran up the stairs. I haven’t felt this happy in a while. I’m going to see them. Finally, after these last few months, I’ll get to see them.

Immediately I started packing in a panic. Halfway through I stopped to check my phone. Do they know I’m coming? Will they be happy? Should I call and warn them?

I haven’t acutally called either of them in a few weeks. I sent texts every single day, but I haven’t called. Maybe, now that I’m going there, they’ll answer. I pulled up Olive’s contact. She might answer just out of anger if she knows.

Straight to voicemail.

“Uh, hey, it’s me, again.” I started.

“I don’t know if you know, but I’m coming to see you. I…” I blew out a breath. “I know that neither of you are happy about it, or will be happy about it, but.. I just.. I can’t wait to see your beautiful face. I can’t wait to just.. be around you. Even if you still don’t want me. I will always want the both of you. Forever. And I’m coming to fight for you. See you soon, my little Fury.”
