Jeffrey’s POV

I was standing next to King George when all hell broke loose. During the chaos, I moved to King Joshua and told him to hand his Kingdom to Walker Brooks, his grandson. King Joshua did as I said, and I was surprised. I cut his hand and waited until Oliver and John were busy shouting orders, then I ran for it. I ran out the door, followed by a few younger wolves. Ben was with me as I told him to wait outside for me. Princess Alicia and Carl joined the other wolves and me as we made our way to the small town in the middle of the kingdoms where I knew Walker and his men were staying. The town is on the border of all three kingdoms but belongs to Sussex.

I see the town and whistle as Walker tells me to in case I need him and must come to his village. He will then know not to attack. Walker, Paris, and the rebels show up out of nowhere, and I am relieved to see them. I am glad they got away from King John’s men. I walk over to Walker. I still have the goblet with his grandfather’s b***d in my hands. I grab Walker’s hand, cut it, and drip his b***d into the goblet. I can see Walker’s eyes becoming shielded as if he does not want to do what I am about to do.

“If you do not accept the throne, John will make your grandfather give him Sussex. This is the only way to save the wolves of Sussex, Prince Walker,” I say. Walker sighs.

“Can’t she become Queen?” Walker asks and points to Alicia.

“No, King Joshua handed the Kingdom of Sussex to you, and if you refuse, King John can take it over. We could not let him give the Kingdom to Princess Alicia as she was a captive at that moment,” I explain.

“Fine, but I am not happy about this. I accept the throne of the Kingdom of Sussex,” Walker says.

“Well, you are King now, but you can set the wolves free when the time comes. We need to plan your wedding and unite the two kingdoms, and Sussex and Essex will become one. Since Sussex has to declare war on King John for kidnappings and trying to steal the crown, Essex and Sussex might as well become one and fight Mercia together. I do not think John thought that over and thought that there would be a new King and Queen. Now he is at war with two kingdoms, not just one,” I say.

“He is stupid, and f**k knows why you had to sleep with him. I should prefer to have another father,” Walker says to Alicia. Alicia blushes as she looks at Carl. Oh, s**t, they are mates! “Walker, it is no way to talk to your mother,” I say. I can feel Princess Alicia’s embarrassment in front of her newfound mate.

“She is not my mother, Dakota is my mother, and Aldo is my father. They are mighty shamans in my pack back home,” Walker says.

“Shamans, you say, hmm interesting,” I say. I wonder if they are the ones helping Cecelia with her magic.

“Yeah, shamans, why is it interesting?” Walker asks.

“Shamans or a shaman are working with Cecelia. You know she is not a very good shaman, but suddenly, she can break the mind-link of the Essex wolves. Oh, by the way, as the Queen, you can restore it, Paris,” I say.

“That is interesting, but I do not think Aldo and Dakota will help Cecelia willingly,” Walker says.

“How do I restore the mind link?” Paris asks.

“First of all, Aldo and Dakota might help Cecelia because they want you back with the pack in America, and secondly, how do you know they will not help her willingly? What do you know about your adoptive parents? Princess Alicia only gave your to them to protect you against your father,” I ask. Aldo and Dakota never adopted Walker legally, but they have acted like his parents since Alicia left him in their care. Alicia only did it to protect Walker from his father, King John. She told me how she missed him and wished that he could have grown up with her, but it was impossible as King John wanted him dead since his birth as he was the oldest son of King John and the rightful heir to Mercia’s throne.

“I know Aldo and Dakota better than I know my mother. Besides, she is the King’s mother now and not a Princess anymore,” Walker says.

“Walker, I never wanted to give you away. I had no choice but to get you as far away from King John as possible. I was not strong enough to protect you against him. John wanted to kill you since you were born, and he said no illegitimate child would ever get the throne of Mercia. When Oliver was born, he came to me and told me he would replace you and kill you if it was the last thing he did on this earth, as his legitimate child would inherit his throne. I could not even visit you as I was afraid he would follow me and replace you,” Alicia says. She is close to tears as she loves her child. She knows Walker blames her for giving him up, and they do not talk much, so I let them speak and take Paris aside. We need to restore the mind-link of the Essex wolves and do it fast, as I want to know how the grandfather of the Queen is doing.

“Hmm, you did not abandon me as Aldo and Dakota told me you did?” I hear Walker say before we walk away.

“Well, luckily, you and Wallis are here as I can’t remember all the secret tunnels to the palace. We need to save the hostages. We can not let John get away with it,” Paris says.

“Since you are the Queen now, you can restore the mind link between the wolves of the Kingdom of Essex. We will need all the pack to work together to save the hostages as John has his whole army at the palace, and I think he will stay there until he knows it is safe to go home or move the hostages,” I say.

“Okay, tell me how,” Paris says. I can see she is eager to learn.

“Open your mind and let your wolves in. Flame is now the Queen Wolf of Essex, and she will invite all the wolves in. Flame is a unique wolf, but I will tell you about her one day. She is an old spirit that comes a long way and appears in Essex’s history many times. You are not reincarnated, but wolves are spirits that can be born and reborn as many times as the Moon Goddess wants them to appear again. Flame explains everything to the wolves, and they all know that Paris and Flame are now the Queen of Essex. They are two beings but also one. Their spirits are connected for as long as the Moon Goddess pleases. Wolves are spirits inside the werewolf and control the human’s body when it shifts into a wolf. Some call us shapeshifters, as the spirits the Moon Goddess gave us can change into wolves. There are other forms of shapeshifters, but some are evil. We will not talk about them. The wolf is a pack animal, and the Moon Goddess created the werewolves to walk the earth as she needed them to protect her children on earth. We are noble beings with a noble mission. We are here on earth to protect the children of the Moon. The Moon Goddess adopted humans as her children a long time ago. We all know the Moon Goddess appears in all forms and shapes, but we never know where and how she will appear. She only appears to those she wants to appear to.

“Jeff? Are you okay? I think I did it as I could hear all the wolves, and I reassured them that we would free my grandfather, grandmother, and the rest,” Paris asks. I blush as I am deep in thought, and I nod to her.

“You did great! Now you need to stop swearing, as your wolves will hear you. They will follow you to the end of the world if they have to. The wolves are loyal to the royals and will do anything you ask of them,” I say.

“When do we have to do the wedding?” Paris asks.

“Are you in a hurry to become Walker’s mate?” I ask.

“Duh, of course. No wolf is complete without its mate,” Paris says.

“Yeah, I know,” I say. I remember my mate. I have not seen her in a long time. She did not reject me, but she also did not want me. It is as if I am her backup plan if she can not get who she wants. The wolves of Essex and Sussex will be linked by their bond, and the two kingdoms will finally become one. The Kingdom of Wessex.
