Third person’s POV

The human troops look at each other and wonder what they will do with these hikers. They can not make the hikers turn around. They also do not know where these hikers are heading to. They might run into werewolves, and their lives may be in danger. The general in charge of the operation does not want the humans going to the nearby village as he knows the town is full of werewolves, and he does not want to put their lives in danger.

“I will recommend that you turn around and head in the other direction,” The general says.

“But we just came from a village nearby, and the people there are friendly and very helpful. We can stay there until you replace whoever or whatever is responsible for the killings,” Walker says. The general frowns. If these humans were safe in the town, does it mean they got false information from their informant, and the town does not have any werewolves? He never gave them incorrect information before. They had better go and check it out themselves and ensure the information was correct.

“Fine, but ride with us, so we can ensure that you are safe,” The general says as he is confused. At least if the information is false or the coordinates are incorrect, the humans will be safe with them, and they can take them to a safe town. The general does not want to take chances with the lives of these humans, and he will instead take them with him and explain later that there was a plague and they had to kill the humans rather than leave them out there with werewolves roaming around. They drive to the town, and the soldiers and the general look confused as the people going about their business in the town are all human. It was the first time they got fake information from their informant. He radios into his head office while Walker, Paris, and their crew get off and start chatting to the wolves, explaining what is happening and telling them to act normal. They use mind links so the soldiers can not hear them. The troops know that werewolves can mind-link, so they always take them so deep underground at the base that they can not contact their packs or loved ones. The soldiers do not suspect anything, as the humans in the town are not all normal humans, and they have not spotted a werewolf anywhere.

“I think we can go back to base. Here is nothing to see,” The general tells his men, and they greet the hikers as they know they are in safe hands. They do not know that Walker, Paris, and the rest will follow them back to their base to replace out who they will call about what happened. The werewolves’ hearing is good, and as they run along the convoy, they hear the soldiers being disappointed that they could not take out a whole town of werewolves. It would have been the first town and not just single houses. Walker, Paris, and the rest are a little angry that the soldiers were so eager to kill werewolves. If only they knew how the werewolves had been protecting them for a long time and that they were not their enemies but their helpers and protectors appointed by the Moon Goddess herself. Humans have forgotten about the history of werewolves and humans and only remember the human history of wars and destruction. If they remembered the times when werewolves, hunters, and humans fought against evil forces, they would not be killing and tormenting werewolves.

“What went wrong? Why did humans and werewolves become enemies?” Paris asks.

“It is because of the rogues and humans that do not understand that rogues are not like normal werewolves, dear. Years ago, we fought rogues, vampires, and other creatures together. Still, humans watch too many movies these days, and sometimes werewolves are portrayed as evil creatures that want to kill humans. They do not realize they are watching films about rogues and how they live as single creatures. We live in packs, and we love peace. Yes, we have our wars and fight our fights, but we try to keep humans away from our battles and our fights against other evil creatures as we are their protectors. We are good creatures by nature and will do anything to fulfill our duty on earth that the Moon Goddess gave us. When I was young, and the hunters were hunting rogues, we would sometimes help them, and even though a rogue was one of us, he lost his human side. He was a danger not only to humans but to us as werewolves, because when he got his claws on the she-wolves, he would rape and kill them. He will kill little pups if he gets them alone, as he does not care who or what he kills. All he wants to do is kill as he has no soul or human feelings anymore, Queen,” Jeffrey explains.

“I know how rogues work, but when did the first rogue come to this island, and why?” Paris asks.

“His name was Noah, and he was a good werewolf, but when he and his family came to the island, their boat sank, and his family did not survive. He was broken and lost all his will to live as a human. He went crazy and roamed the woods at first, killing animals. Then one day, he came across a human city, London. He went into the city and started killing humans. He would stalk them at night and trip them to pieces. I had to call in the help of Val, and we went after him. We could not let the humans know it was a wolf killing them, and we made it look like a madman’s killing. They called him Jack, the ripper, because he killed and ripped humans apart. They thought he used a doctor’s or a butcher’s knife, but we knew better. One night, we cornered him and killed him. We took his body out of town without anyone knowing, and the killing stopped. Everyone thought the ripper had died or left town, and we kept quiet, but since then, we kept to ourselves in these parts of the world as we did not want something like that happening again,” Jeffrey says, giving them a quick history lesson again. They reached the human base and saw the general get out of the truck he was driving.

“You are back fast. Did the wolves leave?” A woman asks, and they do not know her, but she looks in her late forties.

“The town is human, and there are no werewolves. Our informant got his facts wrong,” The general says.

“Impossible. He will never betray me!” The woman shouts. She has known the spy since she got here and knows when someone makes him angry, he will let her know where to replace him and his family. She knows he is mad at the King and Queen of werewolves and does not see them as his King and Queen.

“Well, I am not going to kill humans, so you contact your informant and tell him that there are no werewolves and that we are not going to kill our kind. You can not tell him about our technology if he tries to turn against us!” The general says. He is unhappy about all this and wants her to know that she wasted some of their resources. The wolves turn to Mariam.

“Let’s go and do the spell so you can see for yourselves who the traitor is, because if I tell you, no one will believe me,” Mariam says. They walk to the table, where Mariam puts the letters down again, and she starts chanting, and the letters start moving. Everyone looks at the letters as they move into place. Paris and Walker’s mouths open in disbelief at first. Then Paris looks like she is about to kill someone.

“I knew it, and I never trusted him!” Paris shouts. They are far from the humans’ base, and the humans can not hear them. Walker stares at the letters and can not believe that his old friend is the traitor. The name on the board spells George Wellington.

“He always cheated at chess, and you can not trust someone that cheats at chess!” Paris rants on. Her grandfather is the traitor, but why? He always fought with his men, and why does he want to betray them now? Kaleb looks stunned at first, but then it is as if something has hit him.

“I had a fight with George when we were in battle. He wanted to attack Oliver’s men from the south, and we went in from the north. Although we won the struggle, he was furious at me, and I looked like the hero, not him. He told me I would pay for it to make him look like an i***t. I did not know what he meant, and the next thing I know, my family was gone, my house was burned down, and I thought they were dead,” Kaleb says.

“So he is mad at us for taking everything away from him? Is it because of his kingdom? Is he that mad that we took his crown or his money?” Walker asks. He is also pissed off at George, as he always thought he was one of the good ones.

“I don’t think my grandmother knows about it as she is a good person, and the spell would have mentioned her name as well,” Paris says. She is now worried about Ben and London, who are still with him, and she feels she needs to get them as far away from him as possible. Walker is thinking the same thing, and they need to get to George before he can betray them.

“You guys stay here, watching the humans. We will confront the traitor and get the truth out of him. We were going to look after him and the other royals but not in the way that makes them rich, as the riches belong to the people,” Walker says. He and Paris start running to old King George’s castle. They need to get a hold of him and ensure he does not hurt any more wolves anymore. They wonder what the other wolves did to him that are in captivity. Samuel and Jasmine make sure that the woman can not get hold of George to confront him. They intercept her calls and radio calls to the old King and make sure she can not get a hold of him. At the castle, George is walking up and down in his office, waiting for the call from his human lover and a woman general in the human army. He once met her when he was busy with the war, and she told him that she was looking for wild wolves that killed humans. He told her about his species one night while they were in bed making love. He knows his Queen will not feel the pain of a mate cheating as he was cheating while she was sick. He always made sure she was sick and would give her wolfsbane so she would not feel the pain of cheating, as the pain of the wolfsbane was more potent than his betrayal. He would feed his mate wolfsbane every time he went to meet his human lover. He could not wait to hear from Florence. He wants to see her and gives her a whole village this time. She should be happy with him and give him what he wants tonight. He had already given his mate the wolfsbane as he knew he would get lucky with his lover.

“Grandfather, we need to talk,” Paris says from the study door. He looks at her, irritated, as he does not want her around today and wants to see Florence.

“Can it wait! I have other stuff to do,” George says.

“No, it can not wait! We know what you did,” Walker says as he walks in.

“What do you mean about that?” George says.

“You know! You betrayed your own kind, and for that, you will pay with your life,” Paris says. Her grandmother walks in looking sick. She knows what George has been doing and is not stupid.

“It treats you right, George. I hope you and your lover go to hell,” Victoria says. She is tired of living with a cheater and a traitor, and she will not help him as he betrayed and hurt her in their older days.
