Luca’s POV

Mariana and I have been terrorizing my father and his vampires for days. He is too afraid to let too many of them out at a time, as he needs his army at home to protect him against whatever is killing them. He sent the vampires to the Kingdom, but they did not return. He is spooked as he does not know where they went and what they found. He is scared, and he knows he needs a bigger army. He hears him call all his troops back to the Castle. Everyone that was in the cities and all the humans he had left. He knows their plans for the dogmen have failed miserably. He needs to do something else and forget about world domination for now. I listen as he calls everyone he knows to come back to the palace to prepare for war as he thinks the wolves may attack his Castle, and he will need all the help he can get.

“We need all the vampires from around the world at our side. Contact as many as you know and send the word out,” My father demands one of his men, who immediately walks away, gets on his phone, and starts calling everyone he knows.

“There are not many vampires in America left, Duke. It is like some have just disappeared, and the others are not answering,” He tells my father.

“It is impossible! Keep trying,” My father shouts. I know the wolves have given the good vampires daylight tattoos, and they will not answer, and the rest that got the tattoo and were not good creatures turned into dust. I smile because we are always one step ahead of my father at this stage. I know we could not get all of them, and some will come to help my father, but we have wolves worldwide, and they will come and help us, that I am sure of. The vampire keeps calling, and he replaces a few of their friends.

“I called everyone I know, and they will spread the word, Duke,” He says, but he does not sound very optimistic. He has called everyone he knows, and I can hear he has tried Europe. The gypsies are helping the wolves give the vampires daylight tattoos, and the shamans are doing the same in America. I know the King and Queen have arranged all this as they did not want too many of Mikhail’s friends to roam the world and be able to come and help him.

“Well, at least we know some of our friends will come to help. Now call the humans and tell them to come to the Castle,” Mikhail orders one of the human generals with him.

“Yes, sir!” He says. He walks out to another room where I know they keep the radio they call their troops on. He also calls the generals in America. He also does not look too happy, as I know most of their labs and troops have been destroyed. I know he does not want to tell my father that, as my father will be furious. So I am interested to hear what he will tell my father. He walks over to my father in the other room.

“Sir, the troops we have left are coming,” He says, and he looks nervous.

“What do you mean that we have left?” My father asks.

“Well, sir, we took a bit of a knock in the states and a big knock in Russia,” He says.

“Those damn wolves! I bet they are uniting all the wolves against us, and we do not know where they are,” My father shouts.

“We have tried everything to replace them and their Kingdom, but we could not replace it,” One of the vampires says.

“I know, and we all the vampires we send out to replace them. We can try again, but it seems like they know everything we plan and stop us whatever we try,” My father says.

“Do you think they have planted something in the Castle that can see and hear what we are doing? Remember they were in the Castle a few times and killed some of our men and vampires,” The human general asks.

“I do not know. It is like a ghost in this Castle is killing off the vampires a few at a time,” My father says, and he looks spooked.

“Sir, this Castle is a fortress, I do not know how someone can get in here undetected, but I am sure we will replace out sooner or later how. We have been looking for maps of this Castle and even looked for tunnels near this Castle, but we could not replace anything. We can call a company and see if they can get aerial photos of this place and see if they can detect any tunnels leading to this Castle,” The human general says. I need to warn the King and Queen, and we need to protect the tunnels from being detected even by aerial photos. I am sure the gypsies and the magical wolves can stop it. I run away far enough that I know they cannot pick up my cellphone sign or conversation and call Walker. I tell him what they are trying to do, and he says he will send someone over immediately to stop them from detecting anything. I know I can trust him and that I will have to go and wait for the one he is sending over, as we arranged to meet the one he is sending at one of the entrances to the Castle. I know the one he is sending is Miriam, and maybe Cadilla also. They are the strongest of our magical creatures. I hope they will come soon. Mariana and I are waiting for them at the entrance. We know it can take a little while as they will need to fly in and then run to us. The flight will not take long, and they can run here before the morning. I want them to run to us before the sun sets again, as I do not want any vampires to track them.

“I hope they set Miriam and Cadilla,” Mariana says. We know the wolves are back in the Kingdom to try and protect them.

“Me too, my love,” I say. We have time to spare, so we start talking.

“So when are you going to ask me?” Mariana asks me.

“Ask you what?” I ask, not sure what she is talking about.

“If I am willing to become a vampire or not,” Mariana answers me, and I am surprised that she is the one that brings it up first.

“I was afraid to ask you, and you will say no. Then I will be alone for the rest of my miserable life if you are not willing to live with me forever. I know you do not like vampires, as you are a hunter,” I say.

“Well, you will have to ask me if I am willing before I answer you,” Mariana says with a smile. I look at her, and my heart, which was once cold, is beating like a drum.

“Well, are you willing to become a vampire and stay with this stupid original for the rest of eternity if someone does not kill us?” I ask.

“Are you ready to be with one creature for eternity?” She counters me.

“Yes, I am. I love you, Mariana, and I will forever love you. There will be no other than you in my life,” I say.

“I am willing to become a vampire-hunter hybrid for you, darling,” Mariana says.

“Are you sure? You know you will have to live with this a*****e for eternity?” I ask to make sure.

“I am, and you are not as big of an a*****e as I thought,” She says.

“Are you willing to do it tonight?” I ask. Still not sure if she is serious or not.

“Yes, I am,” Mariana says. I look at her skeptically.

“Are you sure? Being a vampire is not fun, and living forever is not fun. I have been living for decades, and I was lonely and had to do stuff I did not want to do,” I say.

“I am willing to take that chance with you. If we are two, we will not be lonely,” She says.

“But what if something happens to me, and you have to go on living all by yourself?” I ask, and I do not know if I can do it to her.

“I will just kill myself and be with you wherever you are,” She says with a smile.

“Are you really sure? I do not want to put this curse I am carrying on you,” I try again to really make sure she is ready to commit to this forever.

“Do you want me to live with you forever or not?” She asks. She looks sad, as if she is starting to doubt my love.

“Darling, I love you so much that I am willing to let you go instead of letting you live under this curse. I want you to understand what it will be like to be under this curse and that it is irreversible. It is not all fun and games, and it is not nice to live like this with a b***d thirst for the rest of your life,” I say.

“Baby, I love you and can not live without you. I would rather be a vampire and be without you for the rest of my life,” She says.

“Then let us do this. Darling, if you are sure, I will turn you now,” I say.

“Please, baby,” She says.

“Okay, but there are a few things I have to warn you about. Luckily, there are no humans around. When you turn, you will have a bloodthirsty that will drive you crazy. We will have to keep you away from humans for a while until we know you are not a ripper,” I say.

“A ripper? Like your brother? That goes around and kills humans because of b***d thirst?” She asks, and I can see she is panicking a little.

“It rarely happens, and I am sure it will not happen to you because of your good heart. Besides, we will have a magical creature with us tomorrow morning at the latest, and they can give you the tattoo, which will give you your soul back, so maybe it will be better if we wait until we have a magical creature here. We will be sure you do not turn into a ripper, as you will still have your soul,” I say.

“That is a great idea. We will wait until they are here before you turn me. I love you, honey,” Mariana says. We decide to wait until the following day. We make love for the rest of the night in the cave we are waiting, and early the next day, we are up and waiting for the magical creatures to arrive. We have decided first to turn Mariana, and then we will show them the map to cover all the entrances and tunnels that leads to the Castle. We prepare breakfast in the cave and wait. To our surprise, Miriam and Cadilla arrive just past nine in the morning. We are happy to see them and explain everything to them.

“Well, then turn Mariana so we can give her her tattoo, but first bind her, so she does not attack us before we can do our spell. You know she is a hunter and strong, and we do not want to fight her and let any of us get hurt,” Miriam says. Mariana agrees as she knows she can hurt us, and we can hurt her, and we do not want that as she also knows we will not hurt her and try to safe her. We bind her to a rock in the cave so the sun can not touch her and destroy her before she can even live as a vampire and I bite into her neck drinking just enough b***d to turn her. As she turns she looks around and shouts at the magical creature to give her the tattoo. I know she is b***d thirsty and the two magical creatures starts chanting giving her the tattoo as she scream out in pain. I have to cover my ears as I know how the tattoo hurts. It is a relieve when her screams stops and she looks up at me and smiles.

“You can untie me now, my love. I am okay,” Mariana says. I see her tattoo and Miraim nods to me. I untie Mariana and she falls into my arms kissing me.

“We are at last going to be together forever,” Mariana says.
