Chapter 40

"Who told you about that room?" Alpha Leo growled and I was taken aback at his sudden change of tone. It was just a room. Why was he acting this way? "Nobody," I lied. "I just took a stroll down this wing and I saw how much that room was protected and I just got curious.

Alpha Leo pulled away from me. "You are free to check out every part of this mansion, but you must stay away from that particular room."

I frowned. "But, why?"

He looked away. "Just don't ask me about that room again. You can never go into that room and that is final."

What was he hiding? Why can't he show me the room like he showed Ivy and Ama?

I drew closer to him and hugged him tight. "I want to see what is behind that room. Please, show me the room." I pouted.

...like you

showed Ama and Ivy, I wanted to add, but I did not.

I don't know why I was acting or feeling this way, but I just could not help myself. With Alpha Leo, I always lack control of most of the things I do.

"Why should I?" Alpha Leo asked, frowning and my heart sank.

For a while, I could not open my mouth to answer his question.

"Why did you take me to see your parents' tombstone?" I finally found the voice to say something.

Alpha Leo's hard expression softened. "It's the same reason you should not go to the room." He brought his hands to my face and cupped it. "With time, you would get to understand why you should not go to that room. For now, I am not in the right mental state to explain why."

I have fought some battles without his help, because I felt it was best he did not get involved. I wondered if he was fighting something similar. But, he showed Ama and Ivy the room. Why couldn't he show me?

Without thinking everything threw and fueled by the jealousy I felt and my insecurities, I said: "If you don't show me the room, I will never let you come near me again."

I sounded childish and I knew I did, but I cared less. I wanted to know more about him. His past, present and even the plans for the future.

I was scared of falling helplessly for a wolf, but a part of me still wanted to share a soul with the Alpha before me.

I wanted us to be a soul in two bodies.

I immediately felt guilty for lying and keeping so many things that concerned me to myself.

"Alpha Leo-"

"Then so be it," He lashed out at me. "If I have to stay away from you. So be it."

It was

the first time he raised his voice this loud at me. Even when he found out that I had been on a date with Sebastian, he was not as angry with me as he was now. I wanted to apologize to him, but before I could, he dashed out of the room.

Chapter 40

This was definitely not how I had expected things to end. I decided to go to bed, but it was hard to sleep. I just could not sleep after p***ng Alpha Leo off.

I got out of the bed, changed my nighty to something more decent and warm and left my room for the woods, hoping that I was correct about him going to the woods. "Luna Rita?"

I tried mind linking him to know if he was nearby but I could not reach him.

1 spun around to see who had called me. It was one of the warriors guarding the room with the green door. "What are you doing out here in the woods this late?" He asked and I looked away from him and back to the thick forest, hoping to magically catch sight of the Alpha.

"I wanted to check if I can replace the Alpha here. He left the room angrily tonight and I can't sleep except I make sure he is no longer angry with me."

"Luna Rita," the warrior began. He sounded hesitant, but he continued talking anyway. "Did you by any chance ask the Alpha about the room we stopped you from entering today."

I turned to look at him immediately. "I did. I shouldn't have, right?"

He nodded and then sighed. "We shouldn't have asked you to ask for his permission. Just go back to your room and don't worry. Everything will be okay by tomorrow."

"I'm not going to bed until I make sure he is no longer angry with me."

"Trust

me, he is not angry with you. The way he is feeling is totally not your fault. I'll escort you back to the mansion."

"Don't worry about me. If you want me to go back home, you have to help me look for the Alpha. If you don't want to, I will do it myself."

"I can't leave you to go back alone. If anything happens to you, I won't be able to forgive myself and Alpha Leo won't forgive too."

I

me too.

Seeing that I could persuade the warrior to let me be, I let him escort me back to the mansion. Immediately he left me, I headed back to the woods.

Whether or not he was angry with me, I had to see Alpha Leo, apologize to him and make him feel better.

I wish he could share his burdens with me. I wish I could share mine to him too, but the so many what ifs I had was holding me back from doing so,

I was back in the woods.

It was hard to see through the thick darkness that surrounded me, but I forced myself to do so.

It was my poor eyesight and wolfless self against this forest. The same forest filled with different blood sucking creatures and

rogues.

Well, so far, I have not encountered any of these creatures, so they were probably just myths.

I sensed something huge behind me and I spun around.

There was a big, black wolf behind me.
