Chapter 59

ALPHA LEO'S POV

"It is Ivy. Whatever I did was on Ivy's directives," the scared-face warrior shouted as soon as I took out my knife.

Of course, it was Ivy. But I knew she was not the only one. She could not have been the only one.

"And: Ivy and who?"

At that moment, the door swung open and a maid ran in. The guards at the door tried to stop but before that could get to her. I raised my hand, signaling them to hold their peace.

"Alpha Leo, greetings." She said out, genuflecting. "I noticed that the sanctum that was meant to be off limit for the Luna was not guarded for the very first time and I heard a new maid talking about seeing the Luna go in with Ivy. She is new so she does not know how bad that is. I am not and 1 very much know that

Before she could complete her sentence, I was already at the door. My eyes widened in alarm. "Take care of him," I said to my guards, referring to the warrior. "I'll interrogate him later."

I dashed out of the room and ran to the sanctum, my heart racing fast.

My mind flickered to the last day I saw Ama. It was over ten years ago, but the memory was still fresh in my head.

Lunas or fated mates of Alphas alike were not to know about that sanctum. Any Luna or fated mate of an Alpha that did and entered into that place will die and that was simply why that place has always been protected.

According to legend, the statue of the moon goddess in that sanctum had a jealous spirit in her. She could tolerate an Alpha getting himself a mate or a Luna. What she could not tolerate was an Alpha flaunting the mate before her and the spirit believed that an Alpha bringing his mate before her only wanted to flaunt his mate.

I, on the other hand did not believe this legend. Then, it sounded stupid to me. Ivy had fueled my disbelief the time I told her about it. I told her on our third encounter and she proposed having a date in that sanctum.

was young and stupid then, so, of course, I agreed to it. Ivy did not die and since she did not die, my belief in the legend waned completely. It did not occur to me that Ivy was not even my mate. Fast forward to when I realized that Ama was my mate, she had taken a sudden interest in that room. Why she took interest was something I did not understand then, but now things were beginning to become clear. Ivy most probably had an hand in it.

I took her to the sanctum.

Ama died there.

An autopsy was carried out and nothing was found to be wrong with her. She was not poisoned. Not sick.

Nothing. She just died.

The legend turned out to be true.

As the memories came back slowly, my eyes turned black and my veins began to pop in every part of my body.

I was sweating profusely too.

And, my heart was racing abnormally fast.

With every iota of strength in me, I raced to the sanctum.

When I got there, like the maid had reported and top my utter dismay, the outside of the sanctum that was usually packed

with guards and warriors both day and night was completely unprotected.

1 immediately felt a strange feeling-

Fear.

I felt fear for the first time in my life. I was trembling. I. Leo Salvatore, the Alpha of Noctus Umbra pack was trembling. My heart began to pound faster.

My adrenaline surged and 1 kicked the titanium door open. The door was pushed open and I heard a loud thud on time ground. Someone whose face was covered with veil had fallen and immediately time veil flew off I clenched my fists and gritted my teeth.

It was Ivy. My eyes darted across the room and my face paled when they finally fell on my mate. She was sprawled on the ground.

Her eyes closed.

"Rita," I screamed, but not even her finger twitched.

My eyes burned as they were stared at her body. My chest tightened and at the same time felt like it was ripped apart.

I slammed my fist against the wall and I let out an animalistic and primal howl.

IVY'S POV

I would describe the greatest thing I have ever felt throughout my existence in one sentence. That will be watching my rivals, fall to the ground and to their death because of one of my schemes.

First, it was Ama.

Now, it was Rita

My mind flickered to the night Ama died.

That day Alpha Leo had taken her to the sanctum to have a look at the moon goddess statue. They had a drink there 100.

The sting in my heart I felt was still fresh in my head. That was our thing. He took me to that sanctum first and it was infact an idea of mine. Watching him take someone else to our spot just because an overated old lady was busy matchmaking instead of solving actual problems pissed me off.

But.

I watched silently. I just had to be a little patient and like I had predicted, Ama fell to the ground and drew her last breath.

1 smiled, proud of myself.

It was also an idea of mine for him to bring Ama to the sanctum. I just did not tell him directly. I planted it in Ama's heart just like with Rita.

> 1

Alpha Leo was here, but he had no prove that I had a hand in the death of his mates. I could say that I was only an accomplice. Rita was no child for me to force to come in here.

Oh, yes, I did not just trick them into entering the sanctum. I killed them too. The legend was a myth.

I killed Ama.
