Special Chapter: Kayden’s POV

“If I’d known, I would have pleaded with you to reject me because if you did, we wouldn’t be in this situation today. At least she wouldn’t have tried to kill you and Evelyn wouldn’t have risked her life. What if Evelyn had been unable to stop you from consuming the poison? Or what if Evelyn hadn’t found out Margallo’s plan and tried to stop her, then what? I would have probably lost you and I would have become a widow. What would have happened to our child? Margallo in her pursuit of revenge wouldn’t have stopped until she ruined our pack and it would have been all your fault.

She isn’t to blame, you are. And to think we’re supposed to be mates, Richard, doesn’t our bond mean anything to you? You know everything about me, from my bra size to the size of shoes that I wear so how could you have kept such a huge secret from me? How long did you plan on hiding it from me? I feel like I don’t even know you anymore. Only Selene knows how many more things you may be hiding from me.

Didn’t you ever think once that I would replace out eventually? Didn’t you think about the effect it would have on our relationship? You’ve shattered the trust I had in you.” Elsie said and wiped away her tears before sniffing.

She walked over to the prison cell where Margallo had been watching everything quietly, I know that she must be enjoying this. She enjoys creating havoc in the lives of others, it’s become a habit of hers.

She reached through the bars and took Margallo’s hands in hers.

“I’m sorry for what Richard did to you Margallo, I really am. When an Alpha commits a mistake, it’s up to his mate and Luna to try to fix it and so I’m ready to pay for my mate’s mistakes.

You wanted to ruin our family just because he offended you, you tried to kill an Alpha and that’s a huge offense no matter what he might have done to you and I’m willing to free you of punishment if you leave from here and go far away never to return. I want you to leave and never make contact with this pack again. You’ll have to swear that you won’t plot any more evil against us or come to this pack ever again.” Elsie said and I was pleasantly surprised at her bargaining skills.

Alpha Turner has been quiet since Richard confessed to it, I wonder what he might be thinking.

Margallo burst into a laughter that left us all puzzled, how exactly is she replaceing this funny?

“Do you really think you’re in a position to bargain. I know what I did and I’m perfectly aware of how the law works. Richard can go ahead and punish me as he pleases, he’s been doing it for a long time now and you may not believe it but I’ve grown quite immune to the pain. I’m no ordinary she wolf that you can just scare with your empty threats. I’m Princess Margallo of the Prime Wood pack and I’ll become the next female Alpha of my pack so do you really think I’m scared?

After Richard gives his punishment to me, I can simply report him to the wolf council and get my revenge. I can simply say he raped me, knocked me up, abandoned me and then caused me to have a miscarriage. I’ll also tell them that’s he been blackmailing me and he also threatened to rape me again and kill me if I told anyone about what he’d done and that’s why I had been quiet all along. I might even challenge his right to punish me by telling them that I tried to kill him so the blackmail would stop and so I could secure my life and future and they’ll have every reason to believe me.

I still have those love letters that he used to send to me and I have a blackmail note from him which stated that I stopped contacting him or I would face the consequences. I have solid evidence and it’s all genuine so who do you think they would believe? I have my tears as well and believe me, I can cry up a stream. Years of practicing with actual pain have helped.

I have so many things against him. He may be an Alpha but he still remains powerless against the council and with my influence and position, he’ll surely be the one getting punished. Are you also ready for war with my pack?” Margallo said with a sadistic smile and I huffed.

She was acting so pitiful just a moment ago and it’s almost hard to believe that she’s the same person. She changed so suddenly and is enjoying blackmailing us.

With how terrible she is, it’s hard to believe that she was actually ever good. I can’t bring myself to believe that one heart break could make someone become so evil and dark.

“It’s possible that she was good in the beginning and yes, some heart breaks can turn someone dark, especially if her wolf is in support of her. Maybe they both really believed that Richard would be their mate and when it didn’t happen, they flipped. Don’t you remember how dark and violent we suddenly became when we thought Evelyn was going to die, we might have actually killed Alpha Turner if Richard hadn’t stopped us. We had someone to hold us back, she didn’t and she seems to have grown so accustomed to this darkness that it’ll be hard to pull her out. Some emotional bonds we form with the people we love and care about can be stronger than even the mate bond. Mate bonds are easily broken either through rejection or death but nothing can break a deep emotional bond and that’s the difference.” Neko explained and I sighed, I hate it when things get so complicated. What are we going to do about Margallo?

Though the situation was dire, Elsie’s next action left me completely stunned.

Elsie dropped to her knees and kept her head bowed in tears.

“Please Margallo, I beg of you. I’m currently on my knees. Please don’t do this. I’m willing to do anything you ask but please don’t take this matter to the council and please don’t start a war. Many innocent lives will be taken for something that can be resolved amicably.

I’m ready to give you anything you ask for but you have to swear to the goddess with your b***d that you’ll leave our pack alone after this, you won’t try to blackmail us ever again and you’ll stop plotting evil against us and move on. I’ll give you anything you ask for but you’ll have to swear it first.” Elsie said, still on her knees.

“Elsie, no!” Richard growled and rushed to her, trying to get her to stand up but she was stubborn and remained kneeling despite her condition.

“You don’t have to do this for me, I’m the one who made the mistake so only I should be punished. I’ll never let you get humiliated like this. You’re the Luna of this pack and you’re not subject to anyone. I won’t let you kneel before this brat. She can do whatever she wants, we’ll be ready to take her head on but we’ll never bow.” Richard argued.

“Richard, you still haven’t changed, have you? You’re still the same arrogant and stuck up fool you’ve always been and it seems you haven’t learnt from your mistakes. You claim to be a father to your pack but you’re unwilling to surrender in order to avoid war. Some Alpha you are.” Margallo said with a scowl and Richard growled and glared.

He moved towards her, looking like he was going to pounce on her but Elsie held him back.

“Stop. Just let me handle this.” Elsie pleaded. “What do you want, Margallo? Name your price, I’m willing to give anything in my possession.” Elsie said and Margallo lips twisted in a wide smile.

“Be careful with your promises, Luna because my demands will be hard to meet.” Margallo said but Elsie remained unperturbed.

“Just tell me what you want.” Elsie pushed on and all of us were expecting Margallo to say that she wanted Richard but her demand stole our breaths away.

“I want the child you’re carrying.” Margallo stated, her eyes dark.
