Ch 24

Trinity pov

I just stare at Raston and slowly try to understand what he just said. That he will be back. How can he come back if I kill him? How would that work? I stare down at his beating heart in my hand and the whole room goes silent. I can hear the heartbeat and watch it beat in my hands. I get so engrossed in the moment that I don’t hear what he said next.

“Are you having a problem ending my life? What is the little Trinity going to do? Is she going to squeeze the life out of me? Is she going to watch me slowly die? Oh the decisions you have to make and are contemplating. Did what I said make you question things? You have no clue what I’m capable of, my little Trinity.”

I just look up at him with a firm grip on his heart when I motion for the demons to let him go. He knows in a split second it can end so how stupid would he be to do something. He smirks looking down at me when I feel an arm snake around my waist pulling me right up against his body. I just stare in disbelief when his lips come crashing down onto mine and for whatever reason my body instantly melts.

I know what he’s trying to do and it’s not working. I grip his heart, crushing it in my hands when I feel his body go limp and fall to the ground in a heap. I quickly stare down and slowly back up as blood from the heart is running down my arm onto my gown. I want to say the nightmare is over, but it’s really not is it. He’s already given me a fair warning, and now we prepare for the future. What will happen and how will it come about? When and how will he show back up? Will we be prepared? So many questions are running through my head I don’t see that the demons are all staring at me waiting for their orders.

“I’m so sorry. How do we burn the body?”

That apparently made a lot of them happy because I actually saw smiles. Didn’t know they could even smile but I’ll take it. They all join in and pick up his body and I follow behind as we make our way down the hallways to a big open room with candles lit all the way around. A few demons scramble up ahead and swing open a door. I can’t see anything on the inside but see them all disappear inside with the body.

After a few minutes they all come out and the door shuts. I see them pointing and pulling me to a spot at the wall. I look closely and see an on and off button and I see all these fingers pointing to the on button. So I laugh and press the button and hear something start up when I step back. Soon I see a glow from inside a window on the door, and slowly walk up. I see Raston’s body inside as the glow gets bigger and bigger.

I can feel the heat coming off of it, but I continue to watch no matter what. I need to know that he will be nothing but ash after this. They start pulling me back as it intensifies, but I refuse to move. I stand there and watch him incinerate to nothing when the fire starts to die down. I feel a tear roll down my face and for some reason feel like I’ve lost something. Like a little piece of my heart is missing.

Once it’s dark again I open the door and get a wave of heat but see nothing but ashes inside. I shut the door and slowly turn to make my way back out to the main entrance to get to the staircase. Ascending the stairs I thought about everything he had said. How he gave me the warning. How he kissed me and made my body react. In an instant my stomach turns at how my body did in fact react. I’m absolutely disgusted with myself, and don’t know how I could even face Tarnac again. I’m sure he felt it through the bond and I can only imagine what he’s thinking.

When I reach the top and open the door I’m back in the underworld palace and see Moira and all the other staff waiting patiently. I just smile and even she can tell it’s a fake smile.

“Trinity what’s wrong? Everything is finished right?”

“For now yes, but he forewarned me that he will be back and that the pup I’m carrying will have a battle on their hands in the future.”

“Oh my, so what do we do for now? Who will be in charge?”

“I will replace someone to do it who can keep the peace between this world and the above world.”

“But you’re our queen! Don’t you want to be here with us?”

“My life is on the surface. But will come back and visit regularly to make sure everything is taken care of and balanced. I promise you all that, but I need to go.”

I turn to the front door and when I open it I see the field near the cave. I take one look back and walk through closing it behind me. Why do I feel like I’m leaving my children behind? I slowly walk towards the doors when I see the guards quickly start yelling in through the doors and everyone starts rushing out. I stop and look up watching everyone rush towards me except Tarnac. He slowly walks behind everyone and just stares at me.

My mom and dad stop by my side but see my gaze is fixed on Tarnac which makes them stop in their tracks. I watch Tarnac stop a ways away and just stare at me. I can see the disgust written all over his face and now I know he in fact knows what happened. I feel a hand on my forearm and look over and see my mom and dad smiling from ear to ear.

“Trinity, are we going to be grandparents?”

I just nod my head yes and look at Tarnac who is still just staring at me. I can’t imagine what he must be thinking. I just look down, shaking my head and slowly back away from everyone. I see him take a step forward but I can’t be here a minute longer. I turn and just start running as fast as I can. I try my hardest to shift but my wolf is shaking her head no. So I just keep running as fast as I can.

Within moments I hear the pounding of paws when the tears start falling down my face. Within minutes I see a white wolf pounce in front of me when I start screaming at him to leave me alone. I try to run another way and he jumps in front of me. The emotions of everything I’ve been through in the last couple days are coming to the forefront and my tears are matching its intensity.

I finally give up and just collapse into a fetal position, because I know there is nowhere to run. He will block every way I try to go. I just close my eyes, bawling and holding my tummy waiting for him to say something. But I hear nothing but his wolf breathing. He shifts back and soon all I hear is his heavy breathing as he gets closer and closer. I have no clue what he is going to do, but my body is having a mind of its own and starts trembling in response.

I feel a hand on my tummy covering mine when I slowly open my eyes to see him staring down at me. I quickly scramble away protecting my tummy when he puts his hands up.

“Please Trinity, don’t run again. I know I wasn’t giving the best welcoming reception. I’m having a hard time understanding how I feel, and wondered if there may have been a chance that pup was Raston’s. But once I placed my hand I felt the instant bond which made me know that it was mine.”

The rage that I was feeling was building up inside me was something I never thought I would ever feel towards my mate. Before I even knew what was happening I stood up and marched right over to him and let my hand fly. The slap that was heard when my hand met his face echoed through the forest. He just stared wide eyed, holding his face when I leaned in to talk to him.

“How fucking dare you ever think that I would have ever mated with that bastard! Besides even if I had you would have felt it you piece of shit! All he ever did to me was kiss me because I refused to give in to him.”

“Trinity, I’m sorry! I just….”

“Don’t say another fucking word! We have bigger issues because before I killed him he forewarned me that he would be back! Our pup will have a battle in the future. I don’t know when or how or why, but he will be back at some point!”

“How?”

“I don’t know! But one thing I do know is I don’t want to be around you right now. Thinking I’m pupped by that piece of shit! Just leave me alone!”

I go to walk away and right in front of me is the moon goddess. I just roll my eyes because I don’t want to deal with anyone right now.

“If you roll your eyes at me one more time I will make a scene. Tarnac, how dare you even think she could be pupped by someone else. That’s not how it works and you know that so don’t play dumb now. That slap was well warranted, and I don’t blame her one bit. Now as for his forewarning. How he can come back is beyond me, but there must be someone else at play here. He has to have had something done to be able to come back. Trinity, what did you do with his body?”

“We burned it to ashes.”

“Then something must have been done before he was killed to make sure he would be able to come back regardless of what Trinity did with his body.”

“So what do we do now?”

“We live life Trinity, and once that pup is born and ready we start training. Your powers and Tarnac’s will transfer to the pup.”
