Ch 26

Trinity pov

The days and weeks have been flying by and even though I know we are ok I still can’t shake the feeling that I’m being watched. I still feel Raston around but I know there’s no way. I watched his body burn in front of my own eyes. Yet here I am walking around the property and can still feel him. I’ve gone down underground multiple times with my father and have seen Raston’s ashes locked up under lock and key. My father holds the key and makes sure it’s in his possession the whole time.

Today I’ve brought a basket of food and a blanket so I can just sit here and watch everyone moving around the pack house. I get to a shady spot and place a blanket on the ground and sit down placing everything I need out. I look down and rub my ever growing belly when I feel a rumble from within. I giggle because someone is hungry and apparently I’m not eating fast enough. I set everything out and take little bites while doing it which gets the little pup to calm down.

I look around and see the bees buzzing from flower to flower gathering the pollen it needs and other insects making their way in the world. I slowly eat and drink my water when I get that sense again. A shiver goes up my spine because this is the strongest I’ve felt it. I don’t know how to interpret the feeling. I’m scared but not scared at the same time. I look around me and see nothing but feel it get stronger and stronger.

I brush it off and keep eating while watching my surroundings, but even my wolf is on edge. Something isn’t right but we can’t figure out why. I feel Raston around me but can’t see anything and know that he’s dead. But still something isn’t right. I mind link my dad and Tarnac and explain what I’m feeling. They say something back but I feel a wave come over me and my eyes close and feel a comfort around me. I rub my belly and feel such a peace that I don’t even realize what is happening around me.

It’s like the whole world has faded away and I start to feel sleepy that I instinctively lay down on my side and start to feel sleepy.

Tarnac pov

Baphomet and I got the mind link and we knew something wasn’t right when we responded but got nothing back. We kept trying to mind link but it was cut off by something. We couldn’t get through anymore and quickly sent out a mind link to the guards to replace Trinity. We went running out of the pack house when we heard back that she was in the field under a tree. As we quickly shifted and ran they updated that no one could get close to her.

What the hell was that supposed to mean? Except when we made it to the edge of houses we could see exactly what they were talking about. It’s like some kind of whirlwind was going around her with her in the center remaining undisturbed. Anytime the guards got close they were thrown away. What the hell are we supposed to do? How am I supposed to get to my mate?

We go running up and can barely get near when I start screaming for Trinity but she’s sound asleep and can’t hear me. Even her dad starts screaming and she still isn’t responding. Tons of people start showing up and no one can get remotely close. With all the screaming going on all of a sudden it becomes completely silent; it’s as if the world has stopped. We all look at each other and stand in silence.

When the wind starts to die down and a figure starts to appear in front of me. I can’t quite make out who it is but as it comes into focus I watch it step inside of the wind and kneel down next to Trinity. This figure starts to solidify and the moment it does my guards try to rush in and get thrown back. My blood starts to boil, and I can feel the bile rising from my stomach.

“Did you really think she could get rid of me that easy Tarnac? My goddess, she is stunning carrying your little bastard pup. What I would’ve given for it to be mine. I will be watching over her because I know there will be another fight when that pup becomes of age. Rest assured though I will be able to have access at any time if I want to. I knew she would end me in the underworld and made plans ahead of time.”

I watch as he leans over caressing her face and lightly kisses her forehead when her eyes slowly open looking straight at him. They open wide and I can see tears start to fall when we all realize she can’t move. We just watch as she stares at him pleading with her eyes not to hurt her.

“Don’t worry my Trinity, I would never hurt you. Even though it isn’t my pup I’m not that big of a monster. I will see you again soon but until then.”

Then in an instant the wind picks up again when her eyes close and she passes out. It whirls around everyone and disperses in an instant. I rush into Trinity and when I pick her up her body is limp. I quickly pick her up and run towards the hospital as fast as I can. The guards run with me to protect us and I hear Baphomet let out a loud rumble that shakes the ground.

When we enter the hospital I take her in a room when the nurses and doctor quickly come in to assess the situation when I exit the room and just pace back and forth outside. When I turn around I see Baphomet standing there and just about run right into him. The look on his face is all I need to see to know we are in trouble. He steps aside and I see a small woman standing behind him pale as can be.

“Mr. Tarnac, my name is Moira. I’m part of the staff from the underworld. I have been watching the ashes from Raston around the clock to make sure they stayed locked up. While I was sitting there watching them I felt a weird feeling enter the room and his ashes slowly just disappeared. I didn’t believe what I had just seen so went and looked at the cameras and it was caught on tape.”

She pulls out a phone and starts playing a video while I watch intently. I see her sitting there next to the cell with some demons on the wall watching also. Everything seems normal when all of a sudden all of them start looking around. Like they sense something but don’t see anything. Then she points to the ashes and all of a sudden they slowly lift up and start disappearing. She runs up to the cell as the last bit vanishes.

She quickly grabs the keys from the desk and opens up the cell and searches around but can’t replace anything. She starts yelling and tons of demons show up and start disappearing to search the underground. She runs to the cameras and sits down typing and can see she is rewinding on the screen and can see her start to shake.

I look at her visibly shaking when I instinctively pull her in for a hug. That’s when she starts bawling, apologizing for what happened. I kneel down and place my hands on both her shoulders.

“Moira, it’s ok! You did what you were supposed to do, and somehow he had help to escape. How we don’t know. Who we don’t know. But it’s not your fault. So please don’t get so upset. We knew this could happen given his warning.”

She nods her head as Baphomet directs her back outside when I stand up and just watch them leave. I hear a door open behind me and see the doctor walk out.

“She’s ok. Still in shock about what she saw but she’s just fine. We are going to let her rest and suggest you stay here just in case.”

I nod my head and make my way into the room. If I have to keep battling against something none of us can see, it’s going to be a very long time until this war happens.
