Remembering You
Miles Above

You sit millions of miles above me; always glowing as if life itself was not taken from you. A soft glimmer of red and blues flicker through you, as if to say you are more lost than anything. When will this light of yours dim? Every night in the same spot; always the brightest.

We sit on this ground, so cold and afraid to know what is out there. The tragic end that is awaiting us, as if we have any control over it. You sit miles above us, lighting up out nights while we run into it carelessly. We look up hoping to solve each other’s problems. How did we get so lost in this moment?

We sit here talking about the future we have, but silence always takes over. We do not know to handle the truth. In the moment, we let loose only to fear the outcome of our choices.

I was hoping to speak with you. I always get lost in the way a simple flicker always directed my eyes straight to you. I was so lost in the moment I forgot to breathe; that was until he looked at me the way I looked at the stars at their highest peak. Reading me like a book was just so easy when I was so lost in my own thoughts. I was closed off for so long, but right in this moment I am an open book. Not afraid to spill my secrets.

I only told you because you shined the brightest, but what happens when you are gone? Who will keep my secrets from the world? Who will fade away when the sun rises and not be seen again until that night? I told you because you were millions of miles above; with no one to tell.

A flicker of reds and blues, just a simple way to start a fire. We get so lost in these daydreams that we forget our further is near. I spilled my secrets to you when I was waiting for the next best thing. It sent a fire raging through my life to lead me to someone who understood me. Who was lit by the same flame.

But you see, I am telling you this right now because I have not met him yet. I tell him my secrets in hope that somehow, he hears my heart, my stories, and my fears. I tell him because I can tell he is out there looking at you without realizing I was as well.

We sit on this ground, waiting for a story to tell about how two people loved the same star so much that they spilled their secrets.
