PROLOGUE

I killed my mother. My eyes welled up with tears the moment I realized what had happened. I justfound out the truth about myself and what happened to my biological parents, just found out I'mnot human — never have been and it feels like my world is turning upside down.

I hadn't finished digesting this news when someone broke the shower door, I sprung from the tubin surprise.

Rakel, my werewolf mate, waited at the door, scanning my body and then the restroom. "Are you allright? I've been banging on your door.”

"I..." my voice broke.

How do I explain to him that I am a product of the precise thing they despise? What are they goingto do if they figure out who I am? What I am?

To distract Rakel from my nervousness, I grabbed a towel from the rack and draped it over my body. His gaze was drawn to my movement, but he did not enter the restroom. We were both simplystaring at each other.

Right at that time, a familiar feeling started in my tummy. My body began heating up. Then I sensedit for the first time, my wolf side calling for its mate. It craved his mate's touch.

My eyes widened.

God no! It can't be I'm going into heat, right?

I glance up at Rakel only to see him sniffing the air, his eyes which was usually obsidian black wereyellow. When his eyes met mine, I knew Rakel has lost all sense of thinking. He wants to mate righthere and right now!

The worse thing is... I wanted the same thing.

The heat, this time, came with pain a hundred times more than the last time. A spasm worked itsway through my body, causing me to fall to the ground.

A gasp escaped my lips. My body trembled as I slowly stretched my hands towards him.

*D... don't come closer!”

Rakel's fangs were already elongated. He took a step into the bathroom and paused upon hearingmy voice. It seems he was fighting his wolf.

However, his wolf will not allow him to resist this moment. He couldn't leave his mate in pain likethe last time when he was here. The moment he perceived Delaney's arousal, he rushed forward, picked her up, and tore the towel around her body.

CHAPTER ONE: PREGNANT

It was so dark. Everything was pitch-black. The only thing she could hear was screams. Screams ofslaves being tortured.

Delaney couldn't recall how long they'd kept her in this pit. The forty-seventh day maybe? She hadno idea who had kidnapped her, why, or what they were looking for. She couldn't help but wonderif the hunters were responsible. Vampires or werewolves: which is it?

Maybe they wanted her to be so weak that she couldn't lift a finger before they will revealthemselves to her. They didn't realize it, but her werewolf side had been keeping her alive. AsDelaney reminisced about all the good and awful memories she had, the darkness drove her insanewith ideas and that made her choke from remorse.

The final grimace on Knox's face flashed across her mind, adding to the lunacy of being locked upmade her head spin. He had to despise her after that night. No, both of her mates would despiseher at this point.

She's a coward who is afraid of the truth. Delaney couldn't bring herself to tell Knox and Rakel thatshe was one of the key causes of the werewolf-vampire conflict. She can't fathom how they'll reactwhen they replace out. Delaney was scared because she had slept with Rakel and Knox had caughtthem red-handed. So, she chose to flee from them, but who thought that she would be kidnappedright away?

Maybe, capturing her is for the best. Her mates can continue to live a good life without her. Theknowledge sent a pang to her heart.

Just in case you don't know, Delaney has two mates, Rakel, a werewolf while Knox is a vampire. Theydon't get along in anything they do, it got to a stage where they expected her to choose betweenthe two, but how can she choose when she loves both her mates equally?

I don't think Knox feels the same." Her conscientious mind said.

Yeah. She snorted.

How will he feel the same when he caught her sleeping with Rakel? Delaney didn't choose Rakelover him, things just happened, but how will he understand that? How will he understand that theheat came at the most unexpected time and it just so happened that Rakel's mind was overcome bypure animalistic instinct as he slept with her?

Yes, she knows they both wanted her to choose between them, but having sex with her wolf matedidn't mean she chose him! But what's done is done. Knox has already stated where he stands withher.

She still remembers it all, how it happened like it was yesterday. How her heart felt like it waspricked by a needle when she saw his eyes full of disappointment — his heart, breaking through theirbond as he shut her out.

"FUCK OFF!" A roar with pressure so powerful as he yelled at her when she tried to talk to him.Have you ever been in a situation where you feel that sometimes life gives you many reasons to letgo and just die to ease out all the suffering you've been through? It's the same for her too. She feltthat she shouldn't even be alive as it is. She shouldn't have been born!

What's the point of being alive when everything was working against her?

She was startled awake by the sound of a hefty footstep. She sat up straight in her cage, her back tothe rusted iron bars, and listened intently. She's learnt how to employ some of her skills sincediscovering she's a hybrid. Because she could sense the changes in her, it appears that the witchwho placed the spell on her is no longer alive. She had always thought she was human until shelearned the truth about her birth on that faithful night.

To be honest, Delaney is still undecided about whether or not she should despise her hybrid side. Her vampire part has awakened after being starved for days. She knew she needed blood, but shehad sworn she would never feed on anyone. To her, that will turn everything into reality. She stillhasn't come to terms with her supernatural part, but can you blame her? She has been human herwhole life.

She can't become a vampire solely to satiate her bloodlust, so she relies on her werewolf side byeating anything her prisoners give her, even if she suspects it's been drugged. It won't work on heranyway because she isn't human anymore.

Her brows furrowed as the heavy footsteps got closer. This is a first. At least three people wereapproaching her cell. Normally, only one person comes up here to offer food, which happened oncea week.

When their footsteps came to a halt in front of her cage, her heart thudded. They walked in throughthe rusted bars and shone a flashlight in her face, causing her to flinch. She hasn't seen any light ina very long time. Her eyes were hurting from the bright light.

One man came toward her and threw a punch in her face. “If you try anything stupid like running, you'll regret it.” with that, he ordered his second to take off the chain on her legs.

Though Delaney was terrified and confused, she wanted to know what was happening. Where werethey taking me? Was I about to replace out who captured me?

Once the chain came off, she spat a mouthful of blood she obtained from the punch andcooperated with the men as they dragged her out. Delaney lowered her head to hide the fact thatthe smell of their blood was making her hungry. Not only that, she could hear the thumping of theirveins as blood flows through their body. She was still new to this side of hers. She couldn't help butgulp as her tiny fangs elongated. However, she would not be tempted. I can not feed on humans! To the guards, they thought she wasn't as troublesome as some other slaves, so they lowered theirguards toward her. They didn't know she was trying to stop the urge from ripping their throatsapart.

Delaney notices many other shabbily clad hostages being dragged out of their cells as they maketheir way into the filthy hallway. She also discovered that the slaves were werewolves, not humans, after inhaling their scent. They were omegas. Omega wolves are the weakest of the wolf species, whose strength is compared to that of a human. The only difference is their super-hearing abilities, sense of smell and a few other things. They strolled aimlessly as if they had been subjected to aseries of torments. Their eyes had darkened for a long time, replaced by pessimism and defeat. How do they manage to apprehend so many of them? She recognized at that time that her captorswere not ordinary people, but skilled men. Because werewolves would not hold their type hostages,it could only suggest that her kidnappers were hunters or vampires.

When Delaney stared at them, the slaves lowered their gaze. It's as if they know that she's also awerewolf, but different from them. They know she’s an Alpha she-wolf.

The guards gathered them in a hall before leaving. Delaney was confused! She hasn't experiencedany of this since they captured her.

In other to get more information, she focused her attention, wanting to try out the mind link. Thiswas her first time attempting to use mind communication with a stranger. It can't be that hard, right?

“What is going on?’ she asked.

She was expecting the dark-haired girl to reply. Imagine how appalled she was when all the slaveswhipped their heads to look at her.

Scratching her head awkwardly, Delaney muttered You all heard that?’ through the mind link.

They bobbed their heads discreetly.

Delaney gulped. She can't be that powerful, right? Being too powerful can also get her killed.

The nearest wolf closed to her wasn't able to use the mind link as she was weak. She leaned towardDelaney and whispered. “It's a usual routine they do when someone important is coming or whenthey are about to sell us.”

What?

Do they trade werewolves too?

Does Rakel know about this?

Before the slave could say any other thing, a tall, scary human walked in. His sharp, red eyesscanned the slaves as they stood, causing them to shiver and tremble in fear.

“That's Colton, the Warden Avoid getting under his eyes.” the slave whispered in a hushed tone. After scanning everybody, he shouted, “Strip!”

Delaney watched in horror as everyone shuffled to take off their clothes. W- what is going on? Theydon't expect me to take off my clothes, do they? No way!

“What are you waiting for? Do as he says or else you won't like what they will do to you! If not foryourself, do it for the little one in your tummy.”

Her words sounded like a thunderclap to Delaney's ears. “You... What did you just say?

“You are with a child, Luna. We all can smell it.” With that said, the slave begins taking off herclothes with the rest of them.

Delaney remained frozen on spot not knowing which news was the worst. Whether she should stripor cry at the fact that she was carrying Rakel's baby. She has never thought of getting pregnant tobegin with, nor does she know anything about pregnancy, so what the hell was she supposed to dowith a werewolf baby?

Her hand moved, settling on her stomach as she fell into deep thought. Delaney hasn't had herperiod in months, she assumed it was part of the changes from her hybrid nature, but it isn't. Wasthat why I've been craving blood lately?

This changes everything!
