Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 120

"One month ago, I visited Alameda County for the first time. Since no one here knew who I was, I decided to use my skills to make a lot of money before leaving the county.

"I went to the capital's largest casino and used my skills to win 15 million dollars from Mario Morales.

"My plan was to take the money and leave that very night. However, Mario couldn't accept his defeat and sent his subordinates to the hotel where I was staying. They kept me trapped in the room and forced me to play another round.

"I could see that Mario wasn't someone simple. As I didn't want trouble, I decided to lose some money intentionally.

"In the next two hours, I lost 10 million dollars, but Mario was still not satisfied; he wanted to keep going. Seeing that he wished to clean up everything, I lost my temper.

"I thought that in the worst case, I could simply leave the capital, never to return. The world was so vast, and the chances of meeting Mario Morales again were very low. Even if he wanted to look for me, he wouldn't have an easy time regardless of his background. "Therefore, I no longer held back and began cheating.

"What I didn't expect was that Morales had long prepared for this possibility. There was someone very skilled with him who caught me in the act.

"According to the rules of the gamble, if one was caught cheating, their hands and feet would be chopped off.

"I'd fallen into his trap, so I could only beg Mario for mercy. He gave me two choices. I could either leave my hands and feet behind, or I could help him with something. He asked me to go to Lisle and open a casino there.

"He told me that all cities in Alameda County had a casino that belonged to him, except for Lisle.

"As long as I completed the mission, Mario promised me that he would set me free. And so, I headed to Lisle.

"I thought that it'd be easy as I had the backing of both the Swindlers' Guild and Mario Morales. With this kind of backing, no one would dare to oppose me. But I didn't expect that I'd end up meeting someone like you... "After I failed, Mario sent Mr. Greed here.

"That's the whole story."

Joseph finished recounting everything that had happened to him.

Fannie was furious and wished to kick him again. However, she managed to control herself and said in a disappointed tone, "How could you be so stupid? Why did you put money above your life?"

Joseph sighed and said, "Ma'am, I'm sorry for all the trouble I've caused you."

Fannie snorted angrily.

Adam frowned and asked, "Since you had already left the capital, why didn't you take the opportunity to escape?"

A sorrowful look flashed on Joseph's face. "They captured my sister."

Adam nodded as if he had expected this much.

"When you helped Daniel Smith fool my father-in-law, did you do so out of convenience?"

Joseph nodded. "Yes, since I had to come to Lisle, I thought that getting the help of a local would be beneficial for the plan, but..."

Joseph did not continue with the sentence, but the helpless look on his face spoke for him.

He had two missions in Lisle, but he ended up meeting Adam both times and failed. The more he thought about it, the more depressed Joseph felt.

"Since this matter has nothing to do with the Swindlers' Guild, you can go," said Adam.

At the same time, he heaved a sigh of relief. His real identity had not been exposed, and Joseph Alfieri was not someone his enemy had sent.

"Uh..." Joseph thought he would get another beating, so he was surprised when Adam let him go.

Fannie raised her hand and slapped Joseph on the head twice. "What are you waiting for? You should hurry and leave! Ah, right. I've kicked you out of the Swindlers' Guild."

Joseph's expression changed, but he could only nod helplessly.

Fannie stomped her feet in anger and hissed, "Sigh, you're so annoying! Why did I have to meet someone so stupid? I'll try to do something about your sister, but I can't give you any guarantees, as I'm not sure if Mario Morales will listen to the Swindlers' Guild. Otherwise..."

Fannie's eyes brightened and she pulled Adam's sleeve. "Boss, why don't you help him?"

Adam frowned.

Joseph seized the opportunity to get off of his wheelchair and kneeled before Adam. "Please help me! If you save my sister, I'll spend the rest of my life repaying you!"

"Boss, don't forget who you are. You're the embodiment of justice!" said Fannie as she pouted her lips. In an instant, she had gone from a willful princess to an adorable teen.

Adam's frown deepened. "I have nothing to gain from helping him."

"If you refuse, I'll run to your wife and tell her that I'm your mistress!"

Adam snorted. "It's useless to threaten me. Moreover, aren't you one of the guild's leaders? It should be easy for you to save his sister. Mario Morales has so many casinos under his control, and they should be full of hired cheaters that are part of your organization. As long as you order them to go on strike, Mario will be forced to fold."

Fannie's complexion changed, and she said coyly, "What you said is correct, but I'm still young, and those old codgers refuse to obey my orders. Boss, can you give me a hand, pretty please?"

Joseph suddenly shivered.

Fannie slapped him with a swing of her hand.

Since she was so insistent, Adam could only agree.

Sigh, why did they have to put this girl in charge of the local branch?

"I'll put in a good word for you." Adam finally compromised.

"Hmph, that's more like it," said Fannie.

Then, they headed downstairs.

Fannie took Joseph and drove away in her car, while Adam called a taxi.

As the taxi headed to Adam's hotel, it accelerated beyond the speed limit. Suddenly, the driver braked and steered toward the roadside, crashing into a telephone pole side-first.

And the side that crashed against the telephone happened to be the same side where Adam was sitting!
