Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 135

Silas was kicked off the platform, crashing into the group of reporters below.

The hall instantly plunged into silence.

The crowd looked at Adam in shock, their brains unable to process what had just happened.

Silas was also dumbfounded. He tried to get up, but he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. After a short struggle, he could only lie on the ground awkwardly.

"You son of a bitch, how dare you hit me?!" he cursed.

This was an unforeseen development, and he still could not believe that Adam had dared to hit him in front of so many people. This was akin to a social suicide for Hartley Group. Even Katie was shell-shocked, and she stared at Adam in disbelief.

Adam did not bother to elaborate and said coldly, "Bring everything here."

In the next moment, a burly man entered the hall. He wore a solemn expression as he swept the crowd with his cold eyes. The reporters quieted down and hurried to take a step back. "Hmph!" Black Dragon snorted and walked up to the projector on the stage, connecting it to a camera.

In the next moment, a video started playing on the wall.

What appeared before everyone's eyes was the beautiful scenery of Phoenix Mountain. Then, the camera focused on a cliff, and a person could be seen standing on the edge.

The man wore a windbreaker and a hat, but his facial features were not too clear as he was standing too far away.

The camera eventually zoomed in, focusing on the man's face.

Mrs. Mann was startled. "Is that my husband?"

The reporters were also shocked when they discovered who the man in the video was.

The video continued.

Carl Mann stood on the edge of the cliff and operated a device to measure the height of the cliff. In the next moment, two men approached from behind. One of them raised his leg and kicked Carl in the back; Carl to lose his balance and fell off the cliff. "Ahhh!" There was a piercing scream, and then silence.

The reporters were shocked.

Does this mean that Mr. Mann didn't lose his footing?

This was no accident. This is a murder case!

The crowd was in an uproar. None of them had thought that the truth would turn out to be so shocking.

Silas looked at the scene projected on the wall in shock.

How is this possible? Not a single soul should've been there to record this video!

Mrs. Mann was also shocked. Only now did she discover that her husband did not slip by accident but was murdered.

Katie also looked at the video in disbelief.

Adam said coldly, "Silas Camden, you must be surprised that this scene was recorded, right?

"You tried to pass off this murder as an accident to discredit Hartley Group. Too bad that your plan failed miserably.

"Not only did you murder Carl Mann, but you even tricked his son into taking a high-interest loan, forcing him to cooperate with you in this play.

"Then, you must have forced his wife to help you after threatening her with her son's life."

Adam's words reverberated in the hall like thunder.

The people in the hall became quiet.

Adam had long suspected that Carl Mann's death was not an accident. Last night, he asked Black Dragon to check all the hospitals in Lisle to replace that young man who was almost killed on Phoenix Mountain. After all, there had to be a reason if they were trying to kill him. When the young man woke up, he gave the footage to Black Dragon, and the truth was finally revealed.

"Are you the one who killed my husband? I'm going to tear your face off!" Mrs. Mann screamed and leaped out of her wheelchair, pouncing on Silas.

Silas wanted to dodge, but the pain in his abdomen made it impossible for him to move. Mrs. Mann pounced on him and started scratching his face with her fingernails, leaving behind bloody marks.

Silas cried out in pain and kicked the woman to free himself of her grip.

Dennis saw that his mother was in a predicament, and when he recalled that Silas was his father's murderer, he rushed up to him with bloodshot eyes and kicked him as hard as he could.

Silas' bodyguards, who were standing at the entrance, rushed into the hall. However, Hartley Group's security guards blocked their way.

The two sides broke out into a fight.

Hartley Group's security guards had the numbers on their side, but they were not as trained as the bodyguards of the Camdens. It did not take long for them to end up on the losing end.

"Hmph!" Black Dragon snorted and joined the fight. He moved among the bodyguards like a whirlwind, leaving only destruction in his wake. In less than two minutes, all of Silas' bodyguards were on the ground, moaning in pain.

At last, Silas managed to get away from Dennis and his mother. He tried his best to explain himself, "Please, listen to me! I have nothing to do with this matter. Hartley Group is trying to frame me!

"Adam Drake, you said that this was my plan, but do you have any proof?" said Silas, his face and neck full of bloody scratches.

Anyway, what the fuck is going on? How did this happen? It wasn't supposed to go like this!

Adam said coldly, "If you want proof, you'll have it."

Black Dragon took out his phone and made a call. "Bring them here."

Less than a minute later, two guards brought over five burly men.

The five had been beaten black and blue, and despite their ferocious appearance, they looked like frightened rabbits.

The quintet looked at Silas, who looked back at them, warning them with his eyes.

The five men were thrown to the ground, and Black Dragon towered above them. "You better start talking."

One of the five men cracked and spilled the beans.

"We are loan sharks, and we tricked Dennis Mann into borrowing some money from us. He borrowed 20 thousand dollars at first, but it turned into 300 thousand dollars over time.

"Yesterday, we made a scene in front of his place, but the main objective was to see if people from Hartley Group would intervene.

"We did all this because Mr. Camden told us to do it."

The crowd went into an uproar.

"What, these guys turned a debt of 20 thousand dollars into 300 thousand dollars?"

"I wonder how many people were harmed because of their greed!"

The reporters had seen too many youngsters ruined by loan sharks. Even if some of them regretted it and wanted to turn over a new leaf, they would have a hard time with the high-interest rates. In the end, they would either have to involve their family members to pay the debt or would be harassed nonstop by the loan sharks. Some of those who could not bear the pressure would even commit suicide.

Loan sharks were the cancer of society!

"Kill these bastards!"

Several reporters picked up the bottles of water on the ground and threw them at the five men. Some even picked up chairs.

The clothes of the five men were now drenched with water, and Silas was no exception. When the water came in contact with the wounds on his face, he felt a burning pain.

"Ahhh..." Silas cried out in pain, his eyes bloodshot and full of hatred. "Adam Drake, don't think you've won just because you managed to hit back twice.

"As I've said, this is just the beginning. No one will be able to save you!"

At the next moment, several police officers barged into the hall.

"Which one of you is Adam Drake?" shouted the police officer in the lead.

The crowd immediately quieted down.

Silas said with a sneer, "Adam Drake, you're done for. Even if you kneel and beg me for forgiveness, it'll be of no use!"

The police officers arrived before Adam. "Are you Adam Drake?"

Adam nodded indifferently.

The captain gestured with his hand, and a police officer took out a pair of handcuffs. "You've been charged with assault and battery. You'll have to go back to the police station with us." Before Adam could reply, the police officer handcuffed him.

Black Dragon was stunned. He flew into a rage and slapped the nearest police officer. "You dumbasses, what do you think you're doing? How dare you arrest him!"

The police officers were stunned by his actions. However, they soon returned to their senses and pulled out their handguns, pointing them at Black Dragon's head. "How dare you assault a police officer! Bring him in as well!" Black Dragon's eyes burned with fury. "Do you think I won't dare to shoot you dead on the spot?!"

Then, he tried to reach for his pistol.

"Black Dragon." Adam stopped him.

The hall was too crowded, and if Black Dragon took out his pistol and started shooting at the police, things could go south very quickly.

Black Dragon ground his teeth but stopped in his track. "Get the hell out of here! Do you even know who he is?"

The captain said coldly, "I don't care who he is. No one is above the law."

Black Dragon glared at him. "Even if he killed you guys on the spot, no one would dare to arrest him! Even if your boss were to come here, he would at most shake his hand and let him go!"

The captain sneered, "Amazing! You'll have time to make your position clear at the police station. I'm starting to get curious about your background with all this hype."

Black Dragon could no longer bear it. He kicked the captain away and shouted, "He's a big shot, I tell you. Now, open your f*****g eyes and take a look at this!"

He then threw a badge in the captain's face.

The reporters, as well as Silas, stretched out their necks to take a look at it. In the next moment, they were petrified.

One, two, three...

A three-star general!
